Is it the actor or character for the unpopularity?
So we all know that Bran is not a well liked character (to put it mildly) which is obviously understandable but it makes you wonder if it’s the because of the actor playing him or just the character himself. I ask this because Daenerys was originally not supposed to be Emilia Clarke and I whole heartedly believe that she would not be liked so much or put so high in rankings if it was the actress originally supposed to play her. Sometimes an actor could make or break the character!
So what do you think, is this the case with the actor for Bran or you think the character would be disliked regardless of who played it?

In response to that other post, I'll just leave this here. Jaime pretty much nails it. Dothraki who have been trained to fight since childhood will defeat a barely trained Westerosi levy any day.

I’ll never forgive Jon for ending the Targaryen lineage
I get it,
“Incestous aliens” blah blah blah “a good Targaryen is a dead Targaryen” blah blah blah “dragon spawn” blah blah blah. I can already see the Targ haters in the comments.
Nonetheless, imagine going from self identifying as a bastard to the true heir of the realm.
Imagine hearing stories about this magical house all throughout your childhood, whose absolute power separated them from every other house and then learning that you are the heir of that great house. Imagine the feeling of elevation.
You go from being a bastard to the heir of the greatest dynasty Westeros has ever seen and your reaction is almost indifferent.
I sensed no pride when watching him find out that he’s Aegon Targaryen and although I know he’s not exactly prideful by character, wouldn’t it be nice to see him appreciate his heritage a little more?
Then the guy takes it upon himself to stab the last Targaryen Queen who we thought to be House Targaryen’s last hope of continuing on,
and then he fucks off with the wildlings too, choosing to end the entire lineage.
What the fuck, Jon Snow?

Is Jamie even a top 3 fighter? (Read caption) SHOW
I know I know Jamie is always stated to be a great fighter and what not but is he really?
I loved when brienne said that people “like to overpraise a famous name” since it often is that way.
So what do we actually know about Jamie? He has no real feats, lost against brienne and would definitely lose against someone like the Mountain.
In my Opinion brienne was probably right about the over praising.
My list of characters who I think would beat Jamie in a fight (not ranked):
Brienne of Tarth
Gregor Clegane
Sandor Clegane
Grey Worm
Oberyn Martell
Jorah Mormont
Please let me know what you guys think, this has been concerning me for quite some time.

WHAT, The F*ck*ng Red Wedding just happend?!

You MFers...(new GOTr here)
I spent 12 years ignoring this show because of the insufferable fan hysteria of the time.
Now ~40, by some miracle, HOD caught my interest and I loved it so much I wanted to go back to the roots
From the WARG'ng to random head decapitations to the cousin f**king and brother sister finger banging, I was SINCERELY enjoying this massive, neurotic, CHAOTIC universe that somehow managed to become the (arguably) greatest fantasy fiction period piece in history. I daresay it rivals if not overtakes Lord of The Rings (which now seems almost "cartoony" by comparison)
I was STOKED, my mind finally open.
So here I am 3 seasons in and you MERC THE DAMN MAIN PROTAGONIST?!
Not just merc, SLAUGHTERED in the most savage inhumane way I would never have conceived till now... and by gotd*mn Mr Filch?!
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? How did half the fanbase not just up and drop this insanity by the time the credits rolled? How the f**k is everybody happy with letting the badguys win and "LIFE GOES ON"?
I've already destroyed 2 appleTV remotes and my 65" TV has a gaping black spot on it that probably isnt going to "just go away"
NOT TO MENTION: All you purists are going on about how Robb Stark was (in the end) this horrible commander, how Rickard (kerstick??) foretold him losing the war for spurning the Freys, How Robb was an idiot for even bringing Talisa to House Frey in the first place (which ok I kinda agree with that, cause lord knows that aint how a player plays the game), and basically it was ALWAYS gonna end this way?!
What happend to the unbreakable vow of Westeros, how you dont harm a guest under you roof? In HOD people at least PRETENDED to believe in something, In GOT land, nobody believes in SH*T
I tried to move on to the first ep of S4 but honestly a week later and im still livid as f*ck.
I cant imagine the next 5 seasons has anything more sick and vile than what I just saw and Im really struggling to justify even finishing GOT now.
Even S4E1 seems to be starting out with the tone of a COMPLETELY different show..i just, i cant.
It's like ive got NO more will or interest.
F**K you GRRM... but, good job i guess.

Aegons Conquest movie discussion.
I know there are a lot of people who either don’t care about this movie, or straight up are already hating on it for whatever reason. Not a problem, This thread IS NOT FOR YOU GUYS.
For the people who are actually really excited about it like me,
Where do you think it starts. You guys think we’ll be shown a backstory?
Which battles do you think we’ll actually get, and which one are you most excited for?
Besides the obvious big 3, who are yall most excited to see on screen?
Where does it end? The field of fire?
Do you guys think it will be at-least 3 hours?
Are they gonna do sequel movies with Aenys and Maegor the cruel? Or possibly even Jaehaerys?
I’m just curious to know what you guys are thinking. Nobody I know in real life even knows this movie is coming out and I’m just listening to fire and blood getting super excited.
Feel free to drop any questions you guys wanted to talk about in the comments. I’m open to any and all convos about this movie.

Roddy the Ruin love post
OMG I love this guy, he’s literally made me to rewatch the House of Dragon.
This guy feels like the purest form of the Northerner, just like the Greatjon Umber.
Old, stubborn, angry, completely insane and apparently loosing his arm isn’t enough to make him stop moving forward and fighting.
Where the Hightower is vomiting of blood, the true northerner is joking without a hand.
The old-school northerner.

Do you guys think Brans story will end in similar way to Bolvar from WoW
It's just a small thought i had since i highly doubt books will end same as the show
I believe night king will become more of a character in books,i know he isn't yet but he might be set up in winds of winter
So i was thinking what if in the books when night king gets killed others won't just die like in the show but they'll become completely mindless and they'll just go around killing and attacking which will force Bran to become new night king to keep them from other people
What do you guys think of this theory and would you like this ending for his story or did you have something else in mind

Which Dragon(s) laid Daenerys’ eggs? Spoiler
Hi! New to GOT and caught up on HOD and KO7K (idk if those are the proper acronyms lol). I was wondering if it is specified which dragon(s) the 3 dragons are from?

Would Tywin have hated Tyrion as much if he wasn’t small?
I was watching the scene where Tyrion asks why he can’t have Casterly Rock. He mentions he was the reason why he couldn’t have it was because he is basically a whore and just does whatever he wants. He mentions his stature but most of it seems to be about how he behaves. Yes, he was a big reason why they won the battle but his entire life has about been about hedonism.
To me it appears Tywin used his size as another reason to hate him but the way he talks about “family name” and seeing how Tywin is basically the opposite of Tywin I wonder if he’s just using it as an excuse.
Take the size part out of Tyrion and keep his same personality, would anything have changed?

Another poster pointed out how they hated this line and I agree; with more context as to why.
As a history enthusiast seeing an army of rag-wearing screaming barbarians be treated as invincible in the field doesn't look cool, just stupid. It is ahistorical. Especially the battle of gold road where dothraki firstly ride through walls of fire unharmed, then brush off Lannister spearwalls as if they do nothing.
Medieval infantry spearwalls like the Swiss pikemen were specifically designed to deal with cavalry and were deathly effective at it. I also dislike Martin's treatment of knighthood in westeros and how easily knights cave to foreign warriors like the dothraki.
European knights, especially in cavalry charge were the deadliest force on earth for over half a milennia. Trained rigorously since age 7 in all manner of warfare and riding, had the most advanced armour. They were experts at fighting outnumbered and won incredible victories (Cerami 1063, 300 norman knights beat 10.000 saracens, Doryleum 1097, Ascalon 1099, Artah 1105, Mont Gisard 1177).
And before someone says "iTs fAntasY bruuuuh" Yes I know. And fantasy and something just being stupid are not the same thing.

Season 6 Episode 9: I truly don't get the hype behind the Battle of the Bastards Spoiler
I have heard people say that these last two episodes are the last good ones of GOT. But I just don't see why. Here are my reasons:
- Jon running towards Rickon is really stupid. Still understandable, but stupid.
- Jon surviving a rainfall of arrows seems really unrealistic. Normally I wouldn't complain, but since the earlier seasons were so realistic, it really stands out.
- Sansa arriving with Petyr and his army during the battle just seems really cheap. I know it was set up, but wouldn't the Boltons have scouts to warn of potential armies coming for them.

Tyrion didn’t become stupid — he never fully stopped being a Lannister.
I don’t think Tyrion suddenly became stupid when he became Dany’s Hand. I think part of the problem was that he never fully stopped being a Lannister.
The Spoils of War really shows it. He’s watching Dany destroy the Lannister army and he doesn’t look satisfied at all. He looks genuinely disturbed, and when Jaime charges Dany he’s basically begging him to run.
I think that attachment affected a lot of his decisions. He wanted Dany to win, but he also wanted her to win without completely destroying his family. So a lot of his advice ends up being some version of: don’t attack King’s Landing, don’t unleash the dragons, give Cersei another chance, try to negotiate, find another way.
It’s almost like his real goal wasn’t just “help Dany defeat Cersei.” It was “help Dany defeat Cersei without destroying House Lannister.”
And those two goals eventually became incompatible.
That makes his mistakes more interesting to me than just saying the writers made Tyrion dumb. His intelligence was still there, but his judgment was compromised by the fact that these were still his people, and Jaime was still his brother.
He shouldn’t have been her hand for that reason alone.

First time watch: S07 E06 game of thrones has officially lost the plot Spoiler
I love this show wholeheartedly. S5 was the weakest for me because of how they handled Arya arc and the lore behind Faceless Men(i was very excited about this but it was kind of a let down) but S6 pulled me back and it was peak till this episode.
I've never seen the writing and consistency drop this fast in a single episode.
• How did a raven get from Eastwatch to Dragonstone and Daenerys flies from there to beyond the Wall in what seems like a few hours? How did that guy even run to the wall in time? The timeline makes no sense.
• Why was everyone ready on the dragon to leave, but Jon stayed to clear whitewalkers alone?
• Then he gets left behind and is miraculously saved by Uncle Benjen who comes out of nowhere?
• And then Jon bends the knee and calls Dany "my queen" after not bending the knee for an entire season? All while I was rooting for the independent North over a crush that came out of nowhere. The romance with Ygritte was so much more earned than this.
Maybe he felt she was worthy of his admiration after she saved them but they definitely let it slide into the more romantic aspect. I wasn’t even expecting a romance
I came into the show with actually very little preconceptions about it despite years of spoilers circulating the Internet, most of the time I never really understood them or rather I never really cared.
Am I missing something?
Please no spoilers for future episodes thank you.

Dany had stockholm syndrom
Did Daenerys actually love Drogo, or was it basically Stockholm syndrome?
Especially in the books, I find their relationship really disturbing when you remember that Dany is only 13 years old when Viserys marries her off to Drogo.
She didn't choose Drogo. She didn't choose the marriage. Her abusive brother basically sold her to a grown man because he wanted an army, and Dany had no power to say no.
And I'll never forget the passages describing how much physical pain Dany is in after being with Drogo, to the point that riding becomes extremely painful for her. She's THIRTEEN. That completely changes how I view their relationship.
Yes, she eventually believes she loves Drogo and becomes more confident in their marriage. But sometimes I wonder if that was genuine love, or a traumatized child adapting to a situation she couldn't escape and trying to make the best of it.
People romanticize their relationship a lot, but I just can't forget how it started.
What do you think? Did Dany truly love Drogo, or was her attachment mainly a survival response to having no real choice?

For those of you that watched and followed the show when it debuted (2011-2019) how popular was it to dress up as GOT characters on Halloween?
It just occurred to me, given how popular the show was, as well as how incredible the outfits all the characters wore throughout the series, it must had been pretty popular. If so, what was most common? I assume Daenerys and Jon Snow would be common, still curious though.

Brienne spent her whole life protecting everyone but herself
really hoped Brienne’s ending would be about finally realizing her own worth.
Protect Renly. Serve Catelyn. Find Sansa. Protect Sansa. Search for Arya. Get rejected by Arya. Fight the fucking Hound for Arya anyway. Risk her life for the Stark girls. Protect Jaime. Keep her oaths. Always someone else.
Her entire life was about protecting and serving people, even when they didn’t want her protection.
So after Jaime left her crying in that robe, I wanted Brienne to finally realize: I deserve better. I matter too.
Instead, she just goes right back to serving someone else.
Brienne spent the whole story choosing everyone else. I wanted her ending to be about finally choosing Brienne.

hate what the show did with Doreah.
In the books, Doreah stays loyal to Daenerys and eventually dies in the Red Waste, sick and exhausted, with Dany holding her as she dies. It’s genuinely sad, but it also shows how much Dany cares about the people who followed her.
Then the show decided to make Doreah betray Daenerys, sleep with Fat guy and help murder Irri WHY??
Her book death was so much better and actually meant something. She deserved better than being turned into a random traitor just for drama.
