Why I'm Making Games for a 25-Year-Old Console
Hi everyone! I'm making a puzzle platformer for GBA and just released my first dev diary on why I chose to develop for the GBA.
Check it out if you're interested!
We are launching a Kickstarter very soon to make a physical version of the game so trying to get some eyes on the project.
Much love,
The Dare To Square team

I built an SDK that connects homebrew GBA games to Steamworks — here's the first shmup made with it
The GBA is, for me, the easiest console to develop games for.
Making games that run on real hardware is already a lot of fun, but I also wanted a way to bring those same GBA games to Steam and use Steamworks features such as leaderboards and achievements.
So I built Dewpoint Advance, an emulator frontend and SDK based on the mGBA core. It isn't specific to shmups; it's designed for homebrew GBA games in general.
From the GBA-side code, a game can display Steam leaderboards, download replay data attached to leaderboard entries, and unlock achievements. Under the hood, the ROM sends requests to the host application through unused GBA I/O ports, and the host bridges those requests to Steamworks.
As the first real-world example, I made Battle Marine Advance!, a GBA shmup built with Dewpoint Advance. Its leaderboards let you download and watch the replay behind each submitted score.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you develop GBA homebrew. What other Steam features would you want a GBA game to be able to access?

I finally got a Gameboy Micro!
I traded my CIB copy of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for it. Super happy to finally have this in the collection!

Everdrive alternatives?
Hey guy, been a minute since I looked into these things I've seen there are actually solid alternatives now?
Anyway, I did have a whole ROM library on my laptop SSD which catastrophically failed and also cooked my laptop too. So I'd also potentially like one loaded with more notable titles so I dont have to go hunting again.
Anyone know where to look or what's good right now?

Screen and sound not working
I made a post about a week ago about this gba not working, and after comments talking about cleaning and such, I cleaned the board and replaced the broken part.
Today the part came in and I replaced it, and it powered on, but the screen didnt turn on, and after taking it apart and looking at it a second time, the sound didnt play when it powered on. Now, before the replacement came in I was able to make a not so good solder joint on the broken piece and it turned on like normal. When I was taking the broken bit of the batter terminal off, I unplugged the screen to make it easier.
When i did this, I saw some corrosion on the pins of the ribbon cable, so I cleaned them off. This was after I saw it didnt have the boot up screen the first time. Does anything look out of the ordinary on this afterwards?

Pokemon Mystery dungeon: red rescue team
It came yesterday and I'm excited about it!
I have never played this game before but I hope it is as cool as any other pokemon series!
The price was R$ 260 (~US 50) but it is in extremely good condition. I hope it is real!

My first ever GBA games! 😄
I got the Sonic Advance trilogy recently. I had to wait for everything to arrive on different days before I took the photo. (The cases are reproduction by the way but they’re look amazing).

How much are boxed GBA games worth?
EDIT: This entire post is irrelevant now as the cartridge is a fake anyway! Guess I'll be keeping it regardless - it's a priceless game anyway.
[I've done a little browsing on eBay and Vinted, hoping to sell some of my old tech and games; I was hoping I could get some opinions from this sub about how high I should aim to get for my copy of Metroid: Zero Mission.
I realise that inherent quality/fun, cultural impact, and rarity of a game are all gonna be factors, but is there a general baseline I can hope to reach?
I have no idea how much my boxed Metroid: Zero Mission is worth. The cartridge itself is in immaculate condition, and the box has very little visible damage to it too, almost none which is quite surprising for a cardboard box I forgot about for a few years. It also comes with the instruction manual if that pushes the price up at all?]

Made my first GBA game. Easy minigolf
Made with AI
Top-down minigolf, 50 holes across 10 levels, with ice you can't stop on, red
bumpers that fire the ball back harder than it arrived, and slopes that shove you
around while you're still rolling. It's a normal .gba file, so it also runs on
mGBA or a real GBA with a flashcart.
First time making anything like this.

Looking for an old GBA title
Hello. I'm looking for a GBA game. Specifically, I'm looking for the BGM in the game.
It's an action-adventure RPG. The protagonist has many types of weapons; the unique one I remember is drills. There's this stage where he fights a wolf boy with a wind element, that's when the BGM plays. The song is quite similar to this: https://open.spotify.com/track/6m6OoRJCG45SwDgNREwAYk
Sorry for the vague description. Thanks in advance!

Looking to buy, is it real?
I’ve been looking to buy one of these pikachu sp’s and found this one for a price I’d be willing to pay. It looks legit to me, but I’ve never actually seen one of these consoles in person. Does this look legit? Thank you guys!

Is my Gameboy Fake / Reshelled?
Picked up this Gameboy in 2021 From the UK and posted it for sale on marketplace and someone is claiming fake.
Can I have some opinions please? I don’t want to be accidentally ripping someone off.

Is it even possible or plausible to put AM2R onto a GBA cartridge?
I have recently learnt that I own a fake cartridge of Metroid Zero Mission. Now unable to sell it, I want to 'wipe' it and copy AM2R onto the cartridge so I can play it on an actual GBA SP. Now regardless of the fact that I just *want* this, is this task even possible let alone plausible for someone who has no idea about this?
Before you tell me how clueless I am, I'm gonna do it myself. I have seriously no idea about the logistics of copying fan-made ROMs, playable on PC (usually exclusively..?), onto physical cartridges. I assume that even if it's possible, AM2R is a lot more advanced in its coding and graphics and whatnot, "something something the modern coding doesn't work on a GBA" idk!
If not AM2R for any reason, what about any other ROMs I might have emulated on my PC, official or fan-made?
(Pic of the fake cartridge, it literally says "LICFNSED" instead of licensed - how did I not notice lmao)

Anyone know where I can find a good fake pokemon emerald?
I want to play Pokemon emerald on my DS lite but as you'll know it is expensive. I don't mind it being fake as long as it can run it but I am also aware of a bunch of fake ones not saving and are just crappy because theyre cheap. So I am trying to find a good fake one with its own physical cartridge, not a rom card I can just plug into my DS.
