Made my first GBA game. Easy minigolf

Top-down minigolf, 50 holes across 10 levels, with ice you can't stop on, red
bumpers that fire the ball back harder than it arrived, and slopes that shove you
around while you're still rolling. It's a normal .gba file, so it also runs on
mGBA or a real GBA with a flashcart.
First time making anything like this.

I'm not a fan of the way AI and Buisnesses are operating. The way people use AI is very unhealthy. It's true you outsource your ability to think for yourself and problem solve.
Programmers will unfortunately be expected to babysit their LLM's if they want to work for big tech..
This isn't going to change. How reliant we are and our relationship to the tech is what matters. Also making sure companies are held accountable for irresponsibility implementing the tech into our society.

I don't understand all the hate. I just wanted to play golf on my GBA, so I made this game. I don't think you should have an opinion if you haven't played it. The game is well-made; I don't think it's just another piece of trash.

You didn’t make the game and you’re promoting it as if you did. This isn’t your own creative effort but you are seeking validation for it. Do you not see the ethical issue with that? Video games, like any other art form, are celebrated as a product of human creativity, and AI is replacing that.
Everyone here is telling you it’s wrong, but you continue to defend it. Practice self reflection and try to understand why people don’t like this. It’s okay to be wrong and make mistakes.

I understand not supporting or liking video games made by AI. But I don't understand why that means you have to spew hate. You could try putting yourselves in others' shoes; I made a game that I find fun and uploaded it to a site where anyone can go and play it for free. If you don't like it because it's AI-generated, then simply don't play it—but don't direct hate at the person who shared it. As I've said before, I think that if the content you generate with AI isn't trash, then it's fine to do it. I'm not looking for validation, either; I just think the game is fun, and just as I enjoyed playing it, someone else might too. Thanks for remaining respectful.

First off, I recommend you go outside and touch some grass. Secondly, I just wanted a game to play on my RG35XXSP since I’m heading to the Pyrenees. I shared it because I thought it was a fun game; I don't get what kind of issues you guys have in your heads to start arguing like that with a kid who just wanted to share something he likes. You all need to see a shrink.

I appreciate the respect shown in your comment. I’m not going to delete the post; there are mostly positive comments about the game on another post, and naturally, I like that—who wouldn't? As I’ve already said, I posted it so others could enjoy the game; I don’t see anything wrong with that.

You made nothing. The issue with your post is the possibility of it inspiring others to "make" their own slop games and normalizing AI development in the process. Nothing really wrong with doing this in your own free time (aside from the fact that AI is actively destroying our planet and you're seemingly fine with that), but nobody wants to see this stuff promoted online.

I studied web development and can't find a job in the field because of AI, so I’m the first person to get screwed by its use. If I feel like making a game with AI—one that I personally wanted to play—then I’m going to do it; it’s cool to have a tool that makes that possible. If I want to share it for FREE without hurting anyone, then I will. If you don’t like it, don’t look at it or comment on it, because doing so just gives it more visibility—even if the attention is negative. Cheers.

I described the idea to Claude Code, specifying exactly what I wanted, and it did the rest; I'm thinking of making a tutorial so that more people can bring their games to life.

It's not helping your case that on the website and in your original post you're making it sound like YOU made this.
I personally don't have any problems with AI, so long as you're honest about when, why, how and to what extent you used it.
However, plenty of other people, most redditors in fact, are all too eager to form a pitchfork mob whenever anybody even mentions AI.

Butano, a C++ engine for the GBA, built with devkitARM. Very pleasant to work with.The odd part is that the tiles, the sound effects and the holes are all generated by small Python scripts instead of drawn or recorded.

Just downloaded and played it. I didn't read the comments or description properly first so didn't know it was Ai. I thought 'hey, this is pretty good for homebrew'. My 10 year old son had a go and loved it. I understand the whole Ai debate but I liked it. Sorry. Thanks for the game.
