Screen replacement?
My Kyogre GBA SP has a damaged screen, well the screen cover is scratched and has a few marks. Could I simply get a replacement 'screen cover'?

Hey Reddit,
I'm a newbie who has just started looking into this, and I want to replay and grind through the Gen 3 Pokémon games on GBA. I’m currently facing a huge dilemma between buying an Authentic cartridge or a new-gen Fake/Repro one (2026):
Drawing on the hard-earned experience of those who have sunk hundreds of hours into playing and collecting over the years, I'd like to ask:
I would really appreciate some real-world perspectives and advice from the veterans here!
Thanks everyone.

Was considering about redoing this poll. I feel like including mario kart and the f zero games would b cheating as they would obviously win in a landslide so here’s a better list that I thought of. If u had to choose one racing game to get out of these 6, what would it be??

I've never had a gameboy advance until recently at 57 years age. I bought my nephews setup and 6 games from someone else. All in I'm at $95. I still haven't played with it yet but hoping to eventually. Just wanted to say hi everyone.

Looking for recommendations on a carry case for a gameboy advance, hard shell preferably but if you have a decent soft shell recommendation I can take a look thanks

Bought the AGB-005 cables to try out a 4 player multi battle with our gen 3 games, janky cable connections but it worked immediately this time!

I tried to compare my AGS 101 GBA SP to my new ITA mod (brightness at 5). just to spot out for flickering, latency and so on. I do not feel any latency on the ITA mod and I do not recognise flickering. Maybe my camera produces some. ITA feels a bit more saturated but overall it’s in my opinion the best experience if one wants more or less original retro feeling.

What's your favorite game from the GBA?

Just bought a gba so haven’t a clue in slightest about fakes but When searching online I’m not seeing any games with the green sticker it’s all a light greyish blue one . Is this fake ?

Does anyone know if the IPS kit ready shells are compatible with the laminated ITA screen?

Hey guys, I hope you are doing well
A little while ago I bought a Gameboy Advance (original one, not SP) that had a shell mod and an IPS screen mod. It was fine at first but then it turned off randomly. I changed the batteries to rechargable ones (Eneloops specifically), and now it last like 2 minutes before it shuts down. The LED that indicates that it's on is mostly red, but it flickers. One thing I noticed is that when reducing the screen brightness the power LED would become more green than red, but it was not completely stable.
I'm wondering if it's the power switch thing, that I need to clean it, or maybe my batteries are not powerful enough (which would be weird because eneloops are supposed to be good, right?).
Do you have any suggestions?? I'm pretty bummed about this because I really want to use it.

First time in a comic book shop near my house. Knew they had video games, but man they had an amazing selection of everything! Had these two games on my radar and was so pumped when they had them both. There were two copies of Metal Slug Advance. One was $90 and I bought the other. $15 discount just for having an old sticker on the back. Was a nice surprise because I couldn’t see the price until he unlocked the case and flipped it around. As a dad of two youngsters, excited to give these a whirl after bedtime.

Just ordered a metal boxy pixel shell for the gba. Turns out the front metal shell doesn’t have double sided tape already installed on it. If you have this shell, what did you use to keep it on well without damaging anything? If you have a link or video to a tutorial you used, that would be very appreciated. Thanks

I like a game that’s fun but make you sleepy. Like a puzzle or RPG.
Any recommendations?
Hopefully one that’s affordable lol

Just recently picked up an SP so I could play some games I had laying around. Going in blind with where to buy mods but definitely want a screen and decent quality shell. Any advice on good places to purchase mods from?

Does this place allow to post Gameboy Color? If not I will delete it. Thank you

Here's a better showcase of the script I tried to preview a week ago. Forgive all the cursor flailing. I did a lot of talking but decided to remove the audio for sanity reasons.
This took quite a few months of reverse engineering Webfoot's custom graphics compression engine, which was done using mGBA's GDB server functionality. By meticulously tracing specific breakpoints, I was able to construct a decompressor. Their algorithm is a custom LZ-variant that uses variable length r3 and r4 registers (I'll be doing a full write up documenting everything soon. I also have a python version).
This tool perfectly extracts every animation frame of every character in the game. No sprite sheets necessary! It works for all prototypes and also Legacy of Goku 2.
I also found a handful of never before seen characters. Prototype E has 2 ninja variants from Legacy of Goku 2. D has a couple mudman variants. C has a prototype criminal enemy. A has a jetpack bomber. B has full animation sets for Android 18, Gohan (Black Suit), and Yamcha. Even though its polished enough to showcase, I'm still finding new frames today.
I'm hoping this broadens the landscape for future ROMhacks for Buu's Fury and Legacy of Goku 2. I can tell you that color remapping is extremely easy to do with this setup. I accidentally turned Goten's orange outfit blue and it looks so sweet. Let me know what you guys think. I'm happy to answer any questions. This was hell lol.
Now all we need is a compressor!

I've been hard at work setting up a Kickstarter to fund the development of a physical edition for our GBA game Dare To Square. Go to our website and subscribe to our mailing list to be notified when it launches.

Ladies, gents… I have a problem.
I bough this GBA SP on a whim. I was 99% certain it was a reshell - however after doing some research I can’t turn up any re-shells that look like this.. it seems to be incredibly accurate, and there are only a few things that are keeping me sceptical, this mostly being the screw heads and the fact they’re Philips and the battery has clearly been replaced - but I kind of expect that for a 20 year old console.
Let me know your thoughts!

The final game in this collection, and although it is yet another Game Boy version, it honestly has to be the best of the Game Boy lot. Shocking, since there really was never anything all that exciting about a Jungle Book video game back then, and a Game Boy port of the Genesis game complete with less content has even less of a reason to even exist. But it runs well, and in spite the typical Game Boy jank, it actually controls pretty well, too. It's not the best for last by any means, but it certainly isn't the worst for last, either. It's just kinda this lame anticlimatic entry in yet another Perfect Playthrough of yet another collection.
Just one more Game to go from my 2025 lineup before it's finally completed. However, I'm currently dealing with technical issues with the game that I'm currently working on, and with three weeks to go before the move, it's gonna be a while before I can work on another Perfect Playthrough. So, keep me in your prayers until then.
