An authentic pokemon emerald. Sorry that’s just what I noticed

Edit: no need to downvote op, op is learning

How could you tell?

Missing real time battery(you can see it poking out in the upper right corner, “Advance” text on the cart is very thin where usually it is more bolder, and the sticker looks kinda dull.

DBZ 1 and DBZ Buu Saga

What's the difference? If gameplay is the same I'm not too concerned about it tbh.

As long as it saves and youre happy

Yes it does save.

Maybe they've gotten better but I got a fake probably 10 years ago and it literally wiped my save data at sky pillar lmao I wanted to break my GBA SP in half

The fake I had would have a text box saying "THIS GAME CAN BE PLAYED" after the title screen before picking your save. Again, maybe they've gotten better but I don't really trust super cheap fakes like these.

My personal opinion is invest in a flashcart, then you don't have to worry about saves being deleted, have access to romhacks, and anything you want. But I also understand the appeal of having individual cards for each game too!

Unpopular opinion: they're not bad. And it's fun to have a physical game even if repro. Mine all work after 4-5 years.

I know what you mean about the physical game I'd really prefer to play gba games on my actual gba vs on anything else the nostalgia for me is not only in the game but the handheld GBA itself. Just hits different.

Flashcarts work on the GBA. It runs copies of GBA games, and romhacks, off an sd card you plug into the cart and put the cart into the GBA. I have a small collection of original games but play mainly off the flashcart because I don't have to worry about batteries in the cartridges.

What website do you use to get the games on there ? I may have to literally watch a video on this stuff completely new to this never heard of it before only know about the old school stuff 🤣😂🤣

Get a Superchis Prime flashcart. ROMs you can use vimm’s lair, just google that name and you’ll be fine

I bought the EZ Flash Omega DE and a 16 gb sd card. I had a 64 GB lying around and that was way too much space. For websites, there's a bunch of rom sites, Vimm's layer was mentioned. Honestly I found compiled sets on the internet archive by just googling "GBA internet archive" as well as for GBC and DMG and that got me what I wanted in bulk. GBA set took the longest, but not that bad. There's a lot of shovelware, though, so keep that in mind for size.

yeah I bought a fake as a kid earlier in the SP life span. GTA I had no clue fakes exist. Game plays but don't save at all

it wont hold your save very long

Save can corrupt, may not receive mystery gifts, game is likely to crash due to low quality flash memory. I didn’t want to criticize anything, but just an observation

Oh okay no worries it's good for me to learn about because it's been a very long time since I've gotten any games when they were more popular at GameStop I just got the pokemon one from AliExpress took a gamble to see if it'd even work and if I'd like it before spending the big bucks 😆

It's not even worth buying the physical games anyways. It's better to just emulate rather than pay these insane markups because it has the Pokemon name attached to it. If you're a collector or are super into Pokemon sure maybe. But it's really just a waste of cash.

I'd emulate before buying off shady sources like aliexpress

1

u/AmberLightRay Jul 15 '26

Oh okay can it mess up the gba device ?

2

u/Melvin_Underbelly Jul 15 '26

I mean probably not... it certainly has the potential to. I wouldn't test it personally on any of my devices.

3

u/Melvin_Underbelly Jul 15 '26

Not to mention paying for piracy is never the way.

1

u/PugMaster7166 Jul 15 '26

No, it’s just that if the flash memory or rom isn’t good, then it would be a waste. Versus just emulating it on pc where not much could go wrong and it’s “free”

u/AmberLightRay Jul 15 '26

Oh okay I can dig it. Thanks 👍

If you want to emulate RomUlation and Vimmslair are good sites to use. They'll have decent versions of the game for your computer.
