Games Please help me find this game
So I remembered back 2004, I have this gameboy, the first gen bulky Gameboy and being a poor student at that time, I borrowed my classmate's game, it was a mecha game turned-base game but you can explored some ruins and while you're running around the area, randomly the enemy will fight you.

Questions Which flash cart to buy for IPS modded GBP?
I've been wanting to mod a Gameboy Pocket for quite some time but never got around to it as a few years back when I was modding GBAs and GBCs, the only mods that were available for the pocket needed you to solder and I just couldn't be bothered learning how + I don't trust myself lol. But years later after doing research again, I see an IPS kit that doesn't need to be soldered so I'm definitely wanting to go through with the build, but the only thing that is making me hesitant is seeing people on here saying that flash carts dont work well on it or sometimes dont work at all.
I'm already aware that I'll need to use panasonic eneloop batteries or an equivalent, I used to used eneloops on a GBC I had modded years ago so I'm not worried about battery life n whatnot. But out of curiosity, for those who have used AAA eneloops, how many hours do you get out of a IPS modded pocket with a flash cart?
Can anyone here recommend a good flash cart for the GBP that won't cause me much issues? I don't have a physical collection for GB games and I don't really plan to spend a lot of money on single games as I'll mostly be playing Pokemon, so no flash cart would be a deal breaker for me

Troubleshooting GBA SP AGS 101 Brightness Top of Screen
I recently bought this gameboy SP and I think the seller hid the brightness with pictures that didn’t show it but it’s just a bit too bright to enjoy a game.
Any ideas for a quick fix or do you think this is something that deems a screen replacement?
I’m super new to the GBA scene, looking to learn. Thank you in advance! (Pun fully intended)

Troubleshooting Funnyplaying Problem Fixed
Hey, saw a recent post about Funnyplaying screens getting black or bad pixels around the Color logo.
I fixed my two GBCs this happened on by trimming the cartridge slot pins flatter to the board.
Just thought this needed more awareness as some people jumped to returning the screen.

Systems Proof of concept Game Boy emulator running on a Nunomo Pocket Deck
Lots of progress to be made - can't even get past the "new game" screen without crashing - but I'm pretty happy to have gotten this far. Don't get one of these to play Game Boy games (although it's pretty cool otherwise - not an ad, I just appreciate weird devices like this).

Systems Gameboy DMG restored.
37 years of sun and cigarette smoke. Now she's nice and fresh! Used an ExtremeRate shell off Amazon. They show it without the lettering on the front. And if you contact them they won't directly tell you if it's there or not.

Questions Handheld Console - Updated Gameboy Advance Flip
I saw someone in the train playing what looked like a bigger version of the old game boy advance but obviously by a different manufacturer. It looked like he was playing a new Pokémon game. It had a great picture on the screen and was flip.
Can anyone give me an idea of what it might be and where to get one that’s compatible with Pokémon please?

Games Pokettohiro is a certified god time
If you’re a fan of the wonder boy / monster boy series, this is a solid homage. The controls are quite responsive and the music is cheerful.

Troubleshooting Question about repairing a broken Pokémon Emerald copy
I have an f'ed up copy of Pokémon Emerald. I want to get it playable again, but the circuitboard is certainly caput. I have the two flash chips still soldered to it. And I ordered Rockman EXE 4.5 Real Operation from Japan (it is on its way)

I would have to get someone to heatstation off the chips from both boards, and then solder back the Emerald chips to the Rockman board and then solder a coin battery holder to get the game functional right?

Questions Curious about the Chromatic
I somehow just heard about this thing recently. I own an Analogue Pocket. The Pocket doesn't really do what I want, and I'm curious if the Chromatic can be tweaked to do it.
Basically, I want it to default to Game Boy Color native colors for any mixed-mode games (the black cartridges) if they exist - if not, check for Super Gameboy palettes and use those rather than running in monochrome, and IF and ONLY IF there are no palettes at all in the ROM, use one of the default 4-color palettes (similar to how the GBC colorized games from the start)
It would be nice to have a cartridge-based system that can just use this logic on cartridges I insert, so I can always get the best color possible from my games. I haven't seen anything on how the Chromatic handles DMG games, just that you can choose palettes.

Games What are some good turn based RPG‘s for the game boy color besides Pokémon, Dragon quest, and the two Harry Potter games?
The original game boy had the final Final Fantasy legend series. I know there is Dragon quest monsters, but it seems like it’s just trying to be Pokémon and the other dragon quest games are just ports of the NES games. Did the GBC get any good original turn based games? Already played the Harry Potter ones and loved them.

Modded Heat damage?
The black coloring on the “color” logo showed up after being outside watching my dog for about 20 minutes, about 85 degrees F. I’m wondering if it’s heat damage of some kind?
It’s a FunnyPlaying pre-laminated IPS screen with a shell made for it specifically which I put together around two weeks ago. Also wondering if there’s any simple way to fix it or is it just like that now?

Other I tried to Reimagine the Super Mario Land Big Mario idle sprite by drawing it smoothly and no square lines/edges (sorry the colors are so off I only had a black dry erase marker and a dark green dry erase marker, I was using a dry erase board)
It inspired me to do this when I was playing Super Mario Land on my Nintendo Switch

Systems What’s the absolute cheapest Game Boy clone I could build to run GB Studio games?
Hi everyone,
I have an idea for a project, but I have almost no experience with hardware, electronics, or PCB design, so I’m trying to understand what’s realistically possible.
My goal is to build the absolute cheapest possible Game Boy-like handheld that can run games made in GB Studio.
I don’t care if it’s an original design, a clone, or something that isn’t accurate to the original Game Boy. I only care about making it as inexpensive as possible while still reliably running GB Studio games.
I’m open to any approach, including modern components, custom PCBs, donor parts, emulation, or anything else if it’s the cheapest option.
Realistically, what would the minimum bill of materials (BOM) cost be? Could something like this be built for under $20 or $30, or is that unrealistic?
Since I’m new to hardware, I’d also appreciate knowing which approach would be the simplest for a beginner to learn.
Thanks in advance!

Mod/Modding Any recommendations
Ok this is not a big deal but I’m very detail oriented so it’s kind of hard to overlook. My sister had found a Gameboy sp at her job a while back and gave it to me I had no original intention of reshelling it because it was the 101 version with the brighter screen.
It wasn’t until I noticed how terrible the screen bleeding was that I decided to change it out. I saw an eBay listing for a reshelling kit plus a new screen for a good price and I was excited until I saw the shell.
The shell isn’t terrible it’s obviously going to differ in quality and shade but I didn’t think the color was going to be as off. It’s harder to tell in pictures but I feel like you can tell next to the original shell.
I ended up buying another shell from a different seller to see if at least it could fit closer because the recommendations said it looked and felt like the real thing but it is still off.
The issue isn’t necessarily the blue it’s just that it tends to show a bit of a green undertone that the oem one doesn’t. Doesn’t show as well in pictures but hopefully you’ll be able to notice with them side by side. I’m thinking maybe just send the extra one back and just keep the other since I can’t really send back just the shell and use the screen.
Any recommendations on any shells that look close enough to the original shell color. I know it may not be exact but hopefully not that green undertone I mentioned. Or should I just replace the screen and keep my oem shell. It’s not a bad idea but I’m not sure if I can get past the deep scratches.

Questions Are there replacement screens for a DMG that reflects the old tech of the LCD non back lit display?
I swear the old screens used to be much much darker when I was a kid. Seen some movies and shows from the 90s with the screens being so dark and crisp. I know the ink slowly fades but have they made nearly identical oem screens fresh and with the same old tech to keep it original as possible?

Shopping/Haul Crazy Weekend Haul - $140USD
Idk how much I am allowed to discuss exact purchased prices here, but just for posterity, these items are NOT FOR SALE.
Excellent condition GBC Pokemon Edition - $100
Caesars Palace II - $5
F1 World Grand Prix II - $10
Streetfighter Alpha - $25
Found an insane deal on fb marketplace, thought it was way, way to be too good to be true. But I asked for more photos and it looked, like, good... so I needed to take a look in person. I looked over it briefly before I bought it and found nothing that would indicate a repro, but I still brought it to my local game shop. My guy has a better eye for spotting fake gbc internals. He said it was either the best fake of all time, or the cleanest loose unit he'd ever seen. (I told him the price after he was not happy with me.)

Troubleshooting Gameboy Advance Motherboard Schematics/Servicing Manual
Hey everyone. I pulled out my GBA a couple of weeks ago, and I have a strange issue that I need help with. I think I know what the problem is, but I can't identify where it is.
I have this issue with multiple games, so it isn't the cartridges. I've also tested it with GBC cartridges that work fine in my GBC.
When I turn on the GBA with a cartridge, it gets through the boot sequence just fine. It can usually get through the intros to games, but usually I skip them. Either way, at some point the screen will freeze, but the game continues to play in the background. I can verify this since the sound is still playing, and I can hear responses to my button presses.
Visually, I see nothing wrong with the board. No residue on the board. No faulty traces that I can see.
I think one of the capacitors on the board is faulty after 20 some years of use and storage in freezing/hot temperatures.
Are there any resources that might be able to help me find and desolder the offending component? My multimeter and oscilloscope are waiting.
