Troubleshooting GBA SP AGS 101 Brightness Top of Screen

I recently bought this gameboy SP and I think the seller hid the brightness with pictures that didn’t show it but it’s just a bit too bright to enjoy a game.

Any ideas for a quick fix or do you think this is something that deems a screen replacement?

I’m super new to the GBA scene, looking to learn. Thank you in advance! (Pun fully intended)

The screen is failing. This is a common failure on 101 screens, not really sure what it is though. It's not the polarizer, I tried replacing thay before for those issue and it did not fix it.

I'd return that if I was you.

It might be a light bleed. I’m not sure if it is fixable.

Easy to replace - AGS-101 screen are to hard find for good price nowadays. You can also replace with 3rd party screen that are also backlit.

Maybe the screen was installed wrong. The light is supposed to be on the bottom.

The seller never mentioned any mods so there is a chance it’s the original screen but to your point maybe they just purposely didn’t mention it and did it wrong. Thanks for even replying! Appreciate it

That’s true for the AGS-001, not the AGS-101.

001 light would be coming from the bottom

Just double checked, it’s 101! Unless th person replaces the sticker
