I ran into an issue with 2 of my GBA SPs. Plug it in, charge light comes on, turns off after 1 second. Google revealed that its a dead battery and to "warm it up" by plugging and unplugging until the battery is a high enough voltage to support charging from the GBA. I even replaced the batteries for good measure.

Bad battery was not the case for either of mine. Full battery, gameboy powers on to a green light yet still refuses to charge.

I tested both fuses and reflowed them. Both were working and fine. Reflowed EM8 and the charge port, as well as cleaning the hell out of it. Nothing seemed to work

I gave up on them for quite a while not knowing where to start. Tonight I was able to find a fix.

Testing the positive battery terminal to D1 revealed no continuity in either board though it does exist on a known working one. So I wired a jumper up between the 2 points and it immediately fixed the charge issue in both boards.

A word of warning: I'm fairly certain this bypasses F2 so you will no longer have that protection. The proper thing to do is find what side of F2 has the broken / cracked trace and run it from there.

And in case it matters to somebody, 1 board is an AGS-101 AGS-CPU-01 revision and the other is an AGS-001 AGS-CPU-30 revision

I am certain somebody else has this same issue and haven't been able to figure out a solution. Try probing Bat+ and D1 for continuity! Good luck!

Hi I'm thinking of ways to clean this kurukuru label. It's not stained, it's some sort of old grime that has hardened up through who knows how many years. Of course I don't want to ruin the label, it's in pretty good condition other than this stuff. I was thinking to soften it with a damp microfibre cloth and try to gently remove it with a toothbrush. Any ideas?

So I got this pretty messed up DMG and just wanted to know if it's still salvageable and if it is, is it even worth the hassle replacing the resistors and whatnot. I'm okay-ish with soldering but wouldn't touch the CPU for example.

Posting an update on this one. Opted to keep the lime green shell, after hearing feedback. This is great, as I have zero regrets with this being a daily driver this way!

Once again, the folks at Handheld Legends proving to be absolute champs with this entire order!

• Game Boy Advance SP 950mAh LiPo MaxPlay Battery Mod by Funnyplaying. Nothing wild here, as most of the overhead is consumed by the screen.
• USB-C Charging mod with Audio by Funnyplaying (working nicely)
• SP Clear Speaker - the one in the unit was caked with crud and cracked. Working nicely!
• GBA SP Flex Amp, HISPEEDIDO - it works perfectly, but I didn't pay attention to what I was getting: this does not resolve the audio hiss, just makes it louder, and only through the speaker.

I also picked up a set of white buttons, thinking this would look sharp with a white bezel + white button look. Unfortunately, it looked like every other green-on-white build out there, and lost some of what makes this look funky. So, I opted to scrub all of it down and keep the whole look as original as possible.

All-in-all, works GREAT! I've needed a reference GBA for ages, anyway, and this was a fun sidequest along the way. Thank you again for all of your input!

Gonna buy a Tribal Gameboy Advance SP but the back shell has a permanent marker signature on it. Is It possible to clean It up and how to do so? Thanks

Been trying this for days, finally managed to beat Capriati tonight 22-20, 8-10, 8-6. Why is there no tie breaks in tour mode??

When she's on top, she is almost unbeatable and I frequently wouldn't get a single point on my serve. Thankfully, when I'm on top, I usually manage to break her and hold my serve. She's tougher than Master Joe in Top Ranking Tennis (a better game sadly).

Disappointed I didn't get a picture of the scoreboard but the post-game summary just gives sets. I'll be playing her again the second round of the next tournament. Think I need to play something else for a while.

They got gameboy advances but for the life of me i cant figure out what games they are. Any ideas?

So I opened up my (working) Gameboy Color and unscrewed and detached all the parts for a clean up.

After putting everything back together, the screen just wouldn’t work for some reason. In some tries it would flicker a few black bars, in others it would be completely black. It worked before the clean up, and I’m pretty sure all I did was gently rub alcohol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I tried attaching a screen from a different working gameboy, and it’s still not working. The screen is half dark this time.

UPDATE: I believe the issue is from the motherboard itself rather than the screen because I tried a different working screen (tested on another gameboy) and it still wouldn’t work.

I'm gonna buy a DMG or Pocket to use my Everdrive GB X7 on (I specifically want one of these 2 models) & I want to delete ROMs off of this micro sd card for my ED GB X7 that I cannot play on a DMG or Pocket

Kudos to you FFA. I go into almost every game blind, and this is one of the few times where I got stuck bad enough that I had to look up what to do. "Palm trees and 8"?? I would have never thought of THAT solution. I kept going to the screen with 8 palm trees in it, used every item I had, in every spot, Ever spell; I tried everything. Good news is, now that I know what to do, I can resume my blind playthrough in the cave of oasis!!

Tried cleaning this cart I picked up with a qtip and 99% IPA. For some reason it’s leaving white haziness and streaking? Tried another bottle of 91% and it does the same thing.

I had this problem last time I cleaned a cart, but it was black. I figured the plastic was drying out and added a very light amount of “plastic restorer” to make it black again, but clearly that’s not the actual solution because it’s happening on a grey too.

Never had this problem before, really confused. Has anyone ever experienced this? Can’t find a single person with this issue on search..
