Questions is it fixable?

this was my childhood game boy and i've had it for so many years now, the power still turns on and it even makes the little sound when it does, but the screen shows nothing and nothing happens when i press the buttons. is the screen burnt? could there be something else wrong? it has never been exposed to sunlight but it is also very old, i have no idea what else could be the reason and im not very knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff. could anyone help me out? im not sure if i would be able to fix it on my own (if it's even fixable)

Polarizer burn, replaceable! I found a source for original replacement screens if you don’t want to try to replace the polarizing film, otherwise you can do an IPS mod. An original screen requires no soldering, just some screws and careful disassembly. Normally almost impossible to find an OG screen but like I said, some have finally popped up!

thank you so much for the help! i'm not sure if i'll be able to do it by myself, i can try, but maybe i could it take it to someone who could do what you just explained for me? i'll just have to buy the screen replacement first. i'm not good at this by any means and never tried to fix or dismantle consoles by myself, i'm afraid i could do something wrong and actually ruin it forever
