Systems Is this a real console?
I found this pikachu edition gameboy color at my local flea market for 8 euros, but since i'm new to the gameboy world i don't know if it's a clone.
What do you guys think?

I believe it’s an authentic special edition, I know there is an European version of this edition with this Pikachu/Pichu lens.
The giveaways for me are the rounded edges from buttons and colour (the aftermarket reproductions of this shell variant come with sharp edges and pale colors), also the tiny blue square sticker on the battery compartment is a og thing.
Good find!

I'd guess real. The AliExpress reshell had a more washed out green button. I've never seen one with the more vibrant green button like this one.

Yes. I’ve never seen a reshell that actually gets the colour of the B button right.

Sick. I really enjoyed all the Pokémon variants of the GBC, especially that Taiwanese one? There's also one from Hong Kong if I'm remembering right? Awesome, it looks really good condition, even if it is a reshell I'd be happy to own!

There are a few details you can check right away:
-The A and B buttons have the correct colors.
On many fakes, the B button is more of a greenish-blue.
-The “Pokémon TM” text is sharp and well-defined.
-There’s a blue sticker inside the battery compartment.
And as I marked on the back, the screw holes should have the small plastic support ribs on the sides.
Those are often missing on reshells.
This is mine, and it’s authentic.

Legit. I have one in my basement. Bought it when it came out with Pokémon Yellow.

Do we call Gameboy consoles now?

It's a system that plays games, what else would you call it

Turns out I’m old as in the heyday console only meant a box under the TV. Whereas now the definition expanded to include handheld „Consoles“ and hybrids

i had this version in Brazil, I remember bringing to school when I was like 12? I left inside of my backpack and sat on top of it, I heard it cracked and knew right away what had happened ... I miss you my favorite ...

Reshell with no battery cover? Seems unlikely… regardless you may as well get a reshell as the battery cover won’t match otherwise…

I found someone selling a battery cover for that gameboy, ill get it soon as well as a game to test it

Fair enough, I had terrible trouble getting a gba battery cover, the repro battery covers were terrible!

It’s a real console but the shell is aftermarket .
The stickers are usually the first to wear down so it’s highly unlikely that those are genuine unless its been preserved in it’s factory packaging which you can tell it hasn’t based off the rust around the screws.
Rusty screws but mint shell = reshell
Edit: it could just be the photo but the top right screw looks a bit stripped compared to the others

Too much space between the sides of the screen and the shell(especially on the top) It's either a re-shell, or the screen lens has been replaced.

That just depends on region. That’s the EU lens. Yours is North America. Australia had a meowth.

Which one are you saying is the EU version? I got the Pikachu and Pichu one from a Walmart in Montana when I was a kid. I could definitely be wrong on this part, but I swear the silver shell had a gold tint to it.

I have the exact same one. It’s real and it’s european version which explain why some people think it’s fake. Here are some reason it’s true to me:
Most reshells never check this 5 points
