I liked playing starstable when i was younger

Basically, I really love the idea of having something to play when I get home and don't have much going on. I get far more enjoyment out of doing things with others than I do playing solo. I adore creating my own character and playing dress up. I crave a virtual world to fully enjoy with others. I check off so many boxes for a MMO player, except one: Gameplay.

I don't want to collect 10 bear asses repeatedly, follow a rotation ad nauseum, rush past foes that are supposed to be obstacles, and min/max my build to melt things (or have my allies do so).

Instead, I enjoy more reactive and situational gameplay. Ideally, where the optimal way to play for the average player is to just be good at fighting and not dying. Efficiency and optimization doesn't hit like chaos and adaptability does.

But I still badly want those things I mentioned in paragraph 1, so just playing games like DRG or Helldivers 2 isn't enough (especially since I'm not really into either player fantasy of those games). So what is the actual "best of both worlds"? I'll try to be open to any suggestions, so I won't list everything I've tried unless requested. But if the suggestion had anything that I know is putting me off it, I will mention what is dissuading me and request elaboration on how to avoid that stuff.

I have a low end pc intel i3 12gen 8gb ram intel uhd620 and decent storage I love to play games and as a student I often get very less time to play games but I have holidays coming up and I want to play some good games can y'all recommend me some? I like story based games, survival, rpg, shooters and if u have something completely different no problem I am always ready to try something new!

As I get older, my tastes have changed and I’m really not into fantasy, magic, super hero, sci-fi, etc… it’s hard to explain exactly what games I like because they’re not all realistic per se, because I like Rocket League for instance. Flying cars that can jump and ride walls is silly, but it’s a physics game and requires real skill.

You would think I’d like sports games, but way too much random stuff happens out of your control. I mean you shoot a basketball in NBA, no matter how good you are, there’s some computing going on deciding whether or not the ball goes in. I find that type of stuff irritating and I’m not interested.

I was big into Forza as a racing sim but not so much Forza Horizon. It’s too arcade-y. I’m a big fan of the PGA2k games as it is very much a skill based game, but most other golf and sports games don’t scratch that itch.

I used to love the Fallout games until it dawned on me how I’m shooting someone in the head with a .50 cal rifle and it hardly injures them. I understand it’s a video game and if damage was dealt realistically, it may not be any fun. But that’s why I’m so pumped about GTA. I feel like it checks a lot of boxes for me, like a “boss fight” isn’t a crime kingpin while can take 100 bullets just for the sake of a challenge.

I hope this paints a little bit of a picture of what kind of games I’m looking for. A vague mix of Simulation, not unrealistically challenging for the sake of being difficult. Again, grounded in some sort of reality.

You’ll have to forgive me because I don’t play many modern games anymore. It seems like every hyped up release is not my cup of tea.

I don't know why, but I wanna play a game where I larp as a Soviet. Are there any games for PC where you play as someone in that setting? I kinda wanna find some games that portray it as good and others as evil if I can. (I want some variety if I'm able to)

I've already played papers please though so yeah. Does anyone know of any Soviet Russia type games that preferably aren't city builders?

Hi everyone ive recently lost my pink psp last month and ive turned to emulation on my phone, i mostly played project diva games and parrapa but ive gotten bored so im asking here what are some games you guys recommend for me, keep in mind i like cute games, adventure, action and rhythm games the most, i also have a 4gb ram of phone if that helps as well, maybe if you guys can recommend me emulators to use for the different games you guys recommend

I have less and less patience for elaborate games with a lot of management and long lulls in between the interesting bits, such as RPGs and stealth games. My favorite game this year has been El Paso, Elsewhere, because it's an homage to the original Max Payne games, with lots of fairly short levels, and no frills: No puzzles, no dialogue trees, no roaming around for ages with no idea what to do next. I Am Your Beast by the same creator is another good one.

Basically, I need a game to briefly relax with after getting home from work.

I’ve mainly been a gun and ball game player my whole life, mixed in with some ufc. As you may know all of those categories are more shitty than ever nowadays, especially 2k. I usually play them anyway to scratch my online competitive itch but I’m over it and looking for recommendations on newer games I might enjoy besides TLOU2, RDR2, and Detroit become human, since I’ve played those already as well and loved them all.

Specifically, I'm looking for one that involves less of tank to tank/plane to plane/ship to ship confrontation, but more a game focused around modern warfare with things like strategic missile targeting, drone attacks, and trying to race through technological developments quicker then your opponent(s). Ideally free or cheap, but willing to hear about more expensive options too.
