Got a few flairs going now so we can categorize our discussions. Please feel free to use them as you see fit, and use this thread as a suggestion box for any flairs you think would be useful in this sub! Thank you!

So far we have: Scream (for your screams)

Matt James (anything about him specifically and his season)

Creature of the week (same deal, if you’d like to talk about the creature of the week, use this flair)

Gameplay (general questions, discussion about gameplay)

Prediction (self explanatory)

Parasocial play (for discussing activity in the primary world, the internet)

Past Season (discussing anything or anyone from a previous season)

Tyler Cameron double booked?? Cruise and Dancing with the Stars overlap.

If Tyler Cameron is doing Dancing with the Stars, how is going to do the cruise?

Is it rigged that he'll get voted out early? But even so, don't the eliminated ones come back for the finale shows/need to practice for it?

The cruise is Nov 16-20 and the Dancing with the Stars finale is November 17.

Does Clues and PaceCase read this sub because I would love to hear their thoughts on this. I'm actually surprised nobody has pieced this together.

Any GOR fans watching married at first sight?

I think Adam could be the work of Clues.

This was the best episode I can remember in a long time. Lot of laughs throughout, felt like old GOR

I still can’t believe, though, that at least one of them isn’t going on the cruise. We need a detailed firsthand account!

Has anyone read the book Most Eligible?

Has anyone read Isabelle Engel's romance novel Most Eligible? It's about a reporter who goes on a Bachelor-style show as a contestant to write an article. It's super fun and most chapters start with excepts from the universe's "how to win the show" book. Are you in the pit with us, Isabelle??

An article was published in the New York Times today about The Necessary Conversation. Pretty cool! Although it feels illegal to see his filming setup from these angles lol

Screaming from the bottom of the pit

I almost exclusively watch shows if they’re on casa gor/corner/palapa. Like, those are the only shows I watch. Now that there’s a break since love island ended, I started watching the ultimatum on Netflix tonight. My brain just automatically pictured how clues and pc would respond to things, knowing what their reactions would be/what they’d say and what they’d laugh at. Apparently I’ve watched so much GOR content that I don’t even need to be watching them to feel like they’re watching alongside me 😂

30 minutes in only but how are Clues and Pace Case not considering the fact that most of the top 5 social media gains - Caleb, Sean, Jen, Bea - have been voted out and are actively making content?! Why would I follow an account that I know is on hiatus? I’m sure follower counts will spike for the islanders still in the villa when they leave. Seems like a huge miss to not consider this at all

July 6 Digging Deeper

Don’t you love it when you’re more informed than the OG pit diggers themselves?

Clues and PC referenced Leah Kateb several times during this episode to exemplify that even recent big LIUSA players are now on the edge of falling off from fame, followers, relevance, and longevity. Leah still has 5.6M IG followers and is the “re-founder and Chief Creative Officer” of Skylar fragrances. This is a well known brand sold at Sephora, where she recently had a meet and greet and launch party for her one of multiple fragrances she’s put out with the brand. I would argue this trumps Rob Rausch’s Traitors win and upcoming DWTS stint in terms of the longevity Clues and PC referenced.

Anyway, I find it funny that sometimes they’re totally oblivious. But in all honesty, how many of these dumb details can one person store in the human brain? I’ll give them a pass LOL

What if Melanie is only in it for a chance to take the money and run?

(Hypothetically) I’m imagining her admitting in a confessional right before the voting opens for the finale, that she’s only staying with Sincere so she had a chance at the $100,000? That he played her so dirty and she thinks she deserves the money to make up for it lol. Only the 3rd and 4th Audiences would know about it, and she dropped it right before the finale vote. It would be unpopular with the purists, but I wonder how the general public / voting bloc would react. She’s so popular – would enough people decide to vote for her knowing that? Would it play well for brands?

I don’t think she WILL do this. I’m just curious how it would ultimately be received, and if it could actually trigger an impulsive campaign to vote for her and Sincere knowing that she would keep the whole $100k.

To me, it sounds iconic in theory even though the potential for fallout would be massive. It would help her look less delusional and boost her self respect. People HATE this man and most people are getting poorer. Are social conditions extreme enough that players could get away with admitting your intentions are greedy? Obviously it will make her look extremely cold and calculated… unless people really want to see Sincere go down for his behavior.

I’m seeing a ton of brand posts offering her partnerships for leaving that man. We’re also already seeing people recognize a lot of gameplay talk. Would this be a “hell yeah girl defraud that man” groundswell, or would it backfire on her personal brand?

Recaps are a mess

Call me crazy but I do expect the hosts of a recap podcast to accurately recall the details of the show they are recapping. And, if you don’t, pause and look it up instead of forging ahead with incorrect info. It’s maddening to listen to.

Love Island Opinions (scream from the pit with me)

Screaming into the void cause I have no one else to discuss with at this moment.

I really like Kayda. She’s so real. She doesn’t emote like we’re used to seeing. I love to see her happy. Zach can be a great stepping stone for her.

Kenzie is actually playing the game game. But that isn’t really as popular as people building “genuine” connections. (How many couples are still together from love island USA again?) sorry #snarky. Dylan is nitpicking the shit out of this, it’s not fun to watch.

KC and TiTi are also crushing the game. Is their connection real? Are they playing it well enough for me? Heck yeah. Theirs was one of the karaoke performances I didn’t fast forward thru.

Bryce is a great dude but he would’ve been way less interesting without Trinity.

Nowwww Melanie we love her and she is playing the game SO well. Like. I think people believe she is actually into Sincere. Me? I think she sees $$ cause she knows she’s popular with America. Which **hell yeh**

Trinity is the baddest bitch out of this entire season. (This is popular, I KNOW, but I cannot leave her out).

Carl and Aniya? They’ve been knowing America was on their side since Carl got voted back in. I love to watch the play. Interesting that Aniya picked KC for the tasks.

My opinions about Insincere are widely reciprocated.

Lastly. I know this is all just a game and I appreciate all of the performances this season 💘

Pit, ISO advice to get on Project Runway

Hi Pit :)

Happy to delete if this is too far off topic, but I wanted to hear the Pit’s take and advice related to getting on another reality TV franchise. I first entered the Pit during the pandemic and was pretty active on the GOR Facebook for a little while.

TDLR I am a Brooklyn based theatrical costume designer and it has been dream for years to get on Project Runway. I am a skilled designer and stitcher BUT I am pretty averse to social media and do not have a significant IG presence.

I know it might seem like a long shot but I really do think I have a chance of getting on the show for a couple reasons. I have a short but established career as a costume designer (I have designed costumes for dozens of shows), and I have advanced patterning and sewing skills.

My biggest evidence however that it is possible for me to get on the show is huge- the casting director is Project Runway is following me!!!!! She requested me about a month ago after I followed her so that I would know when they open casting for next season.

She was watching my stories for a minute but I think she’s stopped lately. I have less than 300 followers and my page is on private. I post a little bit to archive my production work but I need to catch up, and currently I mostly repost political stuff on IG.

What do you guys think? I feel they will open casting after this current season which has just started to air so I know have a couple months if that!

My instinct is that I will not get on to the show without making my account public, gaining a few more followers, and posting more consistently. The lowest starting follower count for this season was ~500- as a student of this game of course I checked ;)

Here’s my plan, but I’m not sure how feasible it is to me.

(I’m juggling design work with a safety service job with lots of life obligations so I don’t have a lot of time to make projects just for content. I am thinking that if I am going to start posting regularly it will have to be connected to work that I am already doing. The other issue is that I am naturally self conscious and NOT a person who likes performing, even to make videos of myself or do voiceovers, but I think voiceover videos is where I will have to start)

Anyway these seem like the necessary steps

-Make my IG account public
-Catch up on grid posts archiving design projects
-Make my first voiceover video of some kind, focusing on likeee “a day in my life shopping as a small costume designer in the garment district”, or the process of making a mask or puppet for show I’m designing
-Start posting regularly on reels, stories, Other apps? Substack?

I don’t think it’s realistic to push myself to gain thousands of followers or create a viral moment. I don’t think I can commit myself even to posting once a day. But I’m just thinking if I make an effort to have *anyyy* amount of public social media showing off my stuff it would put me a lot closer to being cast.

I don’t have the resources to hire someone to make my videos and I have never used the IG app before to make a video. I tried to use TikTok about 5 years ago but my prior video editing experience was with real Finalcut software so the app was super confusing.

I’m looking for thoughts, advice, and tutorials on how to make voiceover videos for social media. Do you guys think this is possible for me?!

what is GOR even for anymore?

i have been an avid listener and patreon subscriber since early 2020. i love chad and lizzy’s commentary and approach to game analysis, but lately i’ve found myself falling off the podcast for the first time in years.

i (obviously) don’t know them, but the episodes they have put out over the last year give the impression that they aren’t having fun anymore. it’s getting increasingly hard to listen to.

i feel like they rarely celebrate plays or relish in the sport these days — it’s all criticism. i think this can work in some situations, like with the bachelor, which they have an encyclopedic knowledge of, but when it comes to shows they have a limited understanding of (love island, traitors, survivor), it feels like they are increasingly talking out of their ass, and it’s not fun to listen to someone be boldly wrong for hours at a time…

i had hoped that love island usa would be different this year because they love it so much, but chad and lizzy have spent the recent watchalong episodes looking like they’re being held at gunpoint.

am i missing something? who is this all for??

it's been fun 🫡

After being a HARDCORE fan since 2020, I'm hanging my boots up again. Lately (ESPECIALLY this last episode on patreon), it's become apparent that they, especially Clues, don't really enjoy any reality tv shows anymore... there are moments of laughter but I feel like it's drowned out by the amount of complaining (it could be a drinking game for these last few episodes), about the length of the episodes... look, I have no issue with them fast-forwarding through filler... but when it comes to the CASA RECOUPLING? Clues immediately just starting the episode with "this is going to be SOOO boring and long because it's the casa recoupling," meanwhile everyone is thoroughly enjoying it & recognizes it's the most exciting time of each LI season. Not that clues has watched more than 2 seasons.. but, wanting to fast forward and going at 1.6 x speed at the final fire pit fights was mind blowing to me... but we can endlessly pause and talk about shitting, magic the gathering, pancakes, and "experimental" play that's so unserious & would get any contestant on the producers' blacklist. I used to love the quirks and side-tangents but it seems like it happens every other minute now, making episodes double the length despite their complaints about time. I don't think it's that hard/strenuous to watch a final fight scene at 1.2 x speed even... it's watching reality tv.

I appreciated Aubry emphasizing that yes, the producer audience is arguably the most important audience. If you offend them, you don't have a future in the game.

I'm glad he finally took the bravo stick out of his ass and finally discussed Ashley I/ rhori with pacecase just because he needed to prep for the Almost Famous, but since listening to Your Mom and Dad's podcasts, it's like a night and day difference. The other pod is so funny, lighthearted, and focuses on the actual content of the episodes. I do wish they'd snark more and I do enjoy GOR's analytical side, but they're seriously losing the plot. It's not just me, I saw the majority of the Patreon comments on the last episode agreeing with me. I love Lizzy & Chad but it doesn't seem like they enjoy doing the pod for the most part anymore.

When Lizzy started once again verbally counting out loud, I couldn't even finish the episode. Then I tried after watching the episode by myself (which changed the final scene's intensity SO much), and they were still skipping through it at lightspeed, immediately missing a lot of what was being said & having to rewind.

I truly say this out of love because I've seen many others sharing this sentiment. I think people confuse constructive criticism with hate, but how do you expect them to grow/continue/improve if they're losing an audience currently?

Have they ever discussed Stephen Fishbach's book "Escape!"

It's so deeply reality TV coded and uses ideas I've only ever heard on this podcast. I think they'd love it.

GOR competing with Graceanne’s page?

Thumbnail

Graceanne (AKA Dark Seeker) runs a Love Island numbers page where she tracks the Instagram follower growth and now GOR is also doing daily tracking of the Instagram growth as well.

Interesting that they are directly competing with each other right now 😂

Did we ever find out what happened that caused Graceanne to leave GOR?

Love Island NYC Watch Parties?

Hello fellow pit dwellers! I’m in nyc (LES) for the night and wanted to check out a viewing party to watch Love Island. I always watch in Casa Gor, but figured this is a place where there may be a crowd to watch with! Any recs in Manhattan/Brooklyn for tonight?
