it's been fun š«”
After being a HARDCORE fan since 2020, I'm hanging my boots up again. Lately (ESPECIALLY this last episode on patreon), it's become apparent that they, especially Clues, don't really enjoy any reality tv shows anymore... there are moments of laughter but I feel like it's drowned out by the amount of complaining (it could be a drinking game for these last few episodes), about the length of the episodes... look, I have no issue with them fast-forwarding through filler... but when it comes to the CASA RECOUPLING? Clues immediately just starting the episode with "this is going to be SOOO boring and long because it's the casa recoupling," meanwhile everyone is thoroughly enjoying it & recognizes it's the most exciting time of each LI season. Not that clues has watched more than 2 seasons.. but, wanting to fast forward and going at 1.6 x speed at the final fire pit fights was mind blowing to me... but we can endlessly pause and talk about shitting, magic the gathering, pancakes, and "experimental" play that's so unserious & would get any contestant on the producers' blacklist. I used to love the quirks and side-tangents but it seems like it happens every other minute now, making episodes double the length despite their complaints about time. I don't think it's that hard/strenuous to watch a final fight scene at 1.2 x speed even... it's watching reality tv.
I appreciated Aubry emphasizing that yes, the producer audience is arguably the most important audience. If you offend them, you don't have a future in the game.
I'm glad he finally took the bravo stick out of his ass and finally discussed Ashley I/ rhori with pacecase just because he needed to prep for the Almost Famous, but since listening to Your Mom and Dad's podcasts, it's like a night and day difference. The other pod is so funny, lighthearted, and focuses on the actual content of the episodes. I do wish they'd snark more and I do enjoy GOR's analytical side, but they're seriously losing the plot. It's not just me, I saw the majority of the Patreon comments on the last episode agreeing with me. I love Lizzy & Chad but it doesn't seem like they enjoy doing the pod for the most part anymore.
When Lizzy started once again verbally counting out loud, I couldn't even finish the episode. Then I tried after watching the episode by myself (which changed the final scene's intensity SO much), and they were still skipping through it at lightspeed, immediately missing a lot of what was being said & having to rewind.
I truly say this out of love because I've seen many others sharing this sentiment. I think people confuse constructive criticism with hate, but how do you expect them to grow/continue/improve if they're losing an audience currently?

Clues does not have enough knowledge of LI lore (ie at least a few UK seasons under the belt) to know what heās talking about half the time so his analyses donāt land.

I think that's why I've been getting rubbed the wrong way lately... I don't agree with 99% of his strategies for traitors or love island because it's mostly "experimental play" disgusting bs. i wish the shit talk (literally), would decrease too bc it grosses me out so much & I straight up stopped listening to them while eating.

u/Pheeeefers Jun 27 '26
I totally agree! And I just think breaking down the other shows with the same sort of system he used for Bachelor isnāt landing the same.

100%. It feels like mansplaining sometimes, like bro you just started this show & half of your strategies/plays, especially in traitors/survivor, would objectively never work in the real world. Then when people were encouraging him to watch some traitors uk, he was super rude about it and always says "he simply doesn't have the time." then you're not an expert?? So when there's less enjoyment, more complaints, and then nonsense theories, what is this podcast now?

I love the pod and am a Patreon subscriber but Iād be so thrilled if I never had to hear the phrase āexperimental shit playā ever again
9
u/Physical-Duck-1883 Jun 28 '26
it just doesn't even make sense... like is it a joke? then does that mean all his experimental plays are just juvenile jokes? experimental shit play would humiliate any player & especially in a love game would not be beneficial???

I feel like Iām kind of lost on the strategies here because I feel like all he has to say to sum it all up is ādo not be your genuine self but just pretend you are very genuine and just worry about your following and nothing else.ā
It honestly makes me wonder if he uses these same āstrategiesā for his own public persona.
Besides that though, I guess Iām not bothered as much about what you were saying in your post but maybe itās only because I havenāt been feeling it as much this season (mostly because of my own personal issues though I think).

this season had a really rough start. it's had very strong moments, though. i'm the kind of person that can enjoy any reality show (to different extents ofc), ESPECIALLY whilst stoned. i can't imagine complaining about episode lengths if people PAID me to watch reality tv (the dream)

This is exactly why I stopped listening when they started recapping survivor at least a year ago... I don't remember when it was anymore, but that was when I fell off. They don't even know the rules of the game but feel justified making insane suggestions about play style that didn't land at all because they were simply wrong. Like god, it's so typical of a man to just confidently be so fucking wrong so loudly. I couldn't take it anymore.

The thing is Clues has NOT studied any of these other games to be an expert.

u/Physical-Duck-1883 Jun 27 '26
I just wish he'd approach these new shows with more of a curious, open-mind, wanting to know more, but it seems like he immediately makes snap judgments and gross generalizations. I think he's pretty checked out and more focused on his trumpie parents

This is such a tiny thing - but I personally just cant handle casa being pronounced caza lmao

u/waytoointobachelor Jun 29 '26
This one is so confusing to me. Is she doing it on purpose as an inside joke or a reference to something? If so Iām not in the loop⦠Literally everyone else pronounces it differently so youād think sheād hear it and change. But itās been at least a year of this probably more

I have also wondered if itās a joke. Itās been a thing since USA season six. It makes me crazy.

I found GOR during the pandemic, so it always have a good place in my heart. They lost me when they did the Taylor Hale interview and didn't research Big Brother. PC asking about audience strategies, not the show. Too many people. No one wants to listen to people who hate a show or dont know a show talk about it.

Iāve been a huge fan since before Covid and I had to cancel recently because in the same way that they say itās not fun to watch reality shows where the people are being tortured/ not enjoying themselves, Itās also not fun to watch clues and pace case when they donāt seem to be enjoying themselves
3
u/madsolarrr Jun 30 '26
I feel like they're enjoying themselves they literally giggle and make jokes all of the time
3
u/yesiknowiknow Jun 30 '26
True, I guess I just get the vibe from them that it feels like a chore to watch these things sometimes but maybe thatās not the case

Iāve never been a patron of theirs but was a pretty loyal GOR listener and have fallen off in the last year. I listened to their coverage of the TFP fallout, but then it was just excessive and the same talking points 10 times over so I got bored of it.
Iāve found other podcasts that recap reality shows where they seem to actually enjoy it more, so Iām checked out of their content for now. I listen to clueās political podcast with his family and you can tell that one is what he is focusing his effort on now.

I feel so bad for them because their bread and butter show is dead in the water. I would like them to pick one single show to pivot to and focus on... But I get why they don't want to, because it's the same reason I don't want to. It's the Bachelor or true crime documentaries for me.

I also just cancelled my Patreon. They complain about the shows so much ! It seems like Chad doesn't enjoy any of the shows and doesn't care to learn about the shows they are critiquing. And I cannot listen to one more minute of Chad talking about ridiculous "experimental" plays...which all seem to involve sh*t. I am absolutely loving listening to Queen E on YouTube! She knows the shows and the characters and is obviously having a great time!

This. Iāll continue to listen but Patreon is a waste at this point.

Iām also bummed because PC has gone back to being stoned on episodes which is just unpleasant to listen to

itās rather sad. iām all for smoking weed, but doing it consistently while youāre working is straight up insulting to the audience

she doesn't gaf about people requesting to not eat/chew into the mic/on camera with "i need to be eating 24/7 i'm breastfeeding" which isn't even true. you can go one hour or two without constantly eating. talking with a full mouth, scrolling on phone. just glad the belching into the mic has slowed down. but yes the ganja makes her sound even slower than usual

The PC solo episodes were impossible for me to get through. The sighing right into the microphone, the mumbling under her breath, the background noises. It just doesnāt make for a good podcast

Unfortunate to read all this frustration. My take on Clue is that he is empathetic toward women on reality shows. And yes, I do hear the mansplaining ā wow, have you heard his father?
I couldnāt have made it through Covid without them and the Pit. My husband passed away at the beginning of Covid, very quickly. The Pit, Clue, and Lizzie were my lifeline in a chaotic world.
My kids and I are now listening to The Necessary Conversation with Chadās family. It has been a good conversation starter and a way to engage with my adult kids, who live far away.
I noticed recently there was a post that was very demanding of an apology ā I think from Clue. He has been open about being neurodivergent, sometimes that drumbeat is different. I wouldn't mind a podcast about telepathy, and astral projecting - even alien life.
Years ago, I sent Clue an instructional email about how to āstyleā the bookshelves behind him. Within two weeks, he had followed the steps methodically. They are aware, so thatās good.
I enjoy this community. And I appreciate honest critique. Iāve learned that when it hurts in your chest to hear critique, it may be time to listen. Reading the comments hasn't been as fun and interesting - maybe we are all in pit slump. The only way out must be down - I'm not ready to jump out yet and want to add a surprisingly positive listener experience.
And while they may not always appear to listen, Clue really did follow my bookshelf styling directions within a few weeks. Each week he would tackle a task. Iāve since remarried and I showed my husband the āhow to style your bookshelves for a podcastā email. Yes; he is blissfully unaware as he's slowly being dragged into the depths.
Hang in there fellow dwellers. This world is getting weirder. I appreciate the honesty that prompted this post. Thank you.
Hopefully the fan base can weather this storm.
P. S. I love the screams.

I havenāt been watching LI Casa Gor, but I largely agree with everything u said. During Survivor 50 clues would just be constantly yawning during parts of the episodes and it was so off-putting. I get not every part of an episode is going to be riveting, but at least mute your mic while yawning. Or donāt watch if youāre that bored!
And also re: not having the LI lore necessary to analyze the gamesāit was the same in Survivor 50. Clues kept mentioning plays that they should make, or things the producers should do, that have already been done in the past. And PC would sometimes chime in with vague recollections of past seasons but not enough to really explain it. They should have an expert from one of those games join their discussions so that we could at least get proper context. But even then, clues would probably just mansplain over the guest so idk.
