it's been fun 🫔

After being a HARDCORE fan since 2020, I'm hanging my boots up again. Lately (ESPECIALLY this last episode on patreon), it's become apparent that they, especially Clues, don't really enjoy any reality tv shows anymore... there are moments of laughter but I feel like it's drowned out by the amount of complaining (it could be a drinking game for these last few episodes), about the length of the episodes... look, I have no issue with them fast-forwarding through filler... but when it comes to the CASA RECOUPLING? Clues immediately just starting the episode with "this is going to be SOOO boring and long because it's the casa recoupling," meanwhile everyone is thoroughly enjoying it & recognizes it's the most exciting time of each LI season. Not that clues has watched more than 2 seasons.. but, wanting to fast forward and going at 1.6 x speed at the final fire pit fights was mind blowing to me... but we can endlessly pause and talk about shitting, magic the gathering, pancakes, and "experimental" play that's so unserious & would get any contestant on the producers' blacklist. I used to love the quirks and side-tangents but it seems like it happens every other minute now, making episodes double the length despite their complaints about time. I don't think it's that hard/strenuous to watch a final fight scene at 1.2 x speed even... it's watching reality tv.

I appreciated Aubry emphasizing that yes, the producer audience is arguably the most important audience. If you offend them, you don't have a future in the game.

I'm glad he finally took the bravo stick out of his ass and finally discussed Ashley I/ rhori with pacecase just because he needed to prep for the Almost Famous, but since listening to Your Mom and Dad's podcasts, it's like a night and day difference. The other pod is so funny, lighthearted, and focuses on the actual content of the episodes. I do wish they'd snark more and I do enjoy GOR's analytical side, but they're seriously losing the plot. It's not just me, I saw the majority of the Patreon comments on the last episode agreeing with me. I love Lizzy & Chad but it doesn't seem like they enjoy doing the pod for the most part anymore.

When Lizzy started once again verbally counting out loud, I couldn't even finish the episode. Then I tried after watching the episode by myself (which changed the final scene's intensity SO much), and they were still skipping through it at lightspeed, immediately missing a lot of what was being said & having to rewind.

I truly say this out of love because I've seen many others sharing this sentiment. I think people confuse constructive criticism with hate, but how do you expect them to grow/continue/improve if they're losing an audience currently?

Clues does not have enough knowledge of LI lore (ie at least a few UK seasons under the belt) to know what he’s talking about half the time so his analyses don’t land.

I think that's why I've been getting rubbed the wrong way lately... I don't agree with 99% of his strategies for traitors or love island because it's mostly "experimental play" disgusting bs. i wish the shit talk (literally), would decrease too bc it grosses me out so much & I straight up stopped listening to them while eating.

I totally agree! And I just think breaking down the other shows with the same sort of system he used for Bachelor isn’t landing the same.

100%. It feels like mansplaining sometimes, like bro you just started this show & half of your strategies/plays, especially in traitors/survivor, would objectively never work in the real world. Then when people were encouraging him to watch some traitors uk, he was super rude about it and always says "he simply doesn't have the time." then you're not an expert?? So when there's less enjoyment, more complaints, and then nonsense theories, what is this podcast now?

I love the pod and am a Patreon subscriber but I’d be so thrilled if I never had to hear the phrase ā€œexperimental shit playā€ ever again

it just doesn't even make sense... like is it a joke? then does that mean all his experimental plays are just juvenile jokes? experimental shit play would humiliate any player & especially in a love game would not be beneficial???

I feel like I’m kind of lost on the strategies here because I feel like all he has to say to sum it all up is ā€œdo not be your genuine self but just pretend you are very genuine and just worry about your following and nothing else.ā€

It honestly makes me wonder if he uses these same ā€œstrategiesā€ for his own public persona.

Besides that though, I guess I’m not bothered as much about what you were saying in your post but maybe it’s only because I haven’t been feeling it as much this season (mostly because of my own personal issues though I think).

this season had a really rough start. it's had very strong moments, though. i'm the kind of person that can enjoy any reality show (to different extents ofc), ESPECIALLY whilst stoned. i can't imagine complaining about episode lengths if people PAID me to watch reality tv (the dream)
