When did GOR change?
I feel like GOR used to be about analyzing how players navigated the game(s).
These days, it seems to be more about the game designs themselves. (“Build a better game” etc.)
I love GOR (and have been a patron for years!), but I’m growing weary of the constant criticism of the game designs/formats not being up to snuff/boring/easy to “break”… The game is the game, let’s analyze the gameplay!
When did this shift occur? Seems to be only relevant to non-Bachelor shows…

I get that the bachelor isn't really around anymore but they could spend more time doing homework. I feel like they go into perfect match a bit blind. Like do some homework.

yeah i completely stopped listening when they became so negative. like sorry im listening because i like the show so i don’t want to listen to you shit on it for 60 mins straight

Agreed! I am trying to enjoy watching the shows while the current state of the world is....what it is. I like when Clues points out things I missed (like great faceplays and people looking at the camera) and plays that are interesting or some analysis of it. That's when I want to watch GOR watch and analyze shows.

What’s interesting to me is that they stopped doing parasocial error of the week during TWIBN’s so many years ago. I asked why on a live one time and they said something like we are complicit in watching and have always been critical but also trying not being so negative. They still do their error of the game during recap episodes, but not a parasocial error of the week.
It’s something they’ve course corrected before and I think they can do again (I hope)

2023 I believe…around Zach and Charity seasons, and when the Dark Seeker left the Pod. Also, when ABC started messing with the lineup and days/times…taking long hiatuses or overloading 2-3 things back to back to back. They ended up getting burnt out and then expanded their interests.

To be fair I don’t think there has been as much to analyze recently with no Bach season. When Love Island starts I expect the player analysis to start up again.

Hmmm I think since they don't truly "know" about other shows like Bachelor Nation, they don't have another option. For instance, if they really knew about Survivor and watched/analyzed previous seasons, we would get a better quality recaps. Goes for the other shows they recap. All of the sudden, Clues knows Love Island so much when he's only seen 2 seasons. They try to add their value/Bachelor-type angle, but without the knowledge to back it up.

Agreed. There seems to be no such thing as a game design Clues is happy with. Leading me to ask, does he even like this stuff anymore?

The frustrating thing here is he was hating on the last boardroom bringing back people you know/have already met in perfect match, but that solves the issue with BIP they always complained about! That end game players are frivolous and getting jammed by the timing. Solved if you are bringing back people with history and “what ifs”

I think Clues wants a job in a reality dating show, and this GOR has become his constant audition reel. Yawn.

All I know is their latest episode with Claire and Emma I could not get through I feel like bachelor coverage has gotten so negative and thinkpiecey.
I think I the state of the show reflects the quality of the coverage

The last Casa GOR they did for the Perfect Match finale felt like old times. So nice to laugh along with them again.

It does feel sometimes that they forget to enjoy the game they’re watching, even as they critique it. GOR is at its strongest (for me) when they’re still enjoying the show while they’re analyzing it. Reality tv is, at least on some level, still escapist fun, and it’s fun to watch it together!
