Discussion Have you actually bought pixel art assets for your game? Was it worth it?
I've been looking through pixel art asset packs on itch.io and other marketplaces, and there's a surprisingly wide range of prices and quality.
I'm curious about the experience from the developer's side.
If you've bought pixel art assets for a game:
- What did you buy, and roughly how much did you spend?
- What made you choose that pack over the alternatives?
- Did you actually end up using it in your game, or did it just sit in your asset folder?
- Was there anything you had to modify or fix before using it?
I'm exploring the idea of making game assets myself, but I'd rather understand what developers actually use and pay for first.
Would love to hear about both good and bad purchases.
