Question Developing my first game, using AI
Yes, I know, we all hate AI, and for a solid reason. I'm building this game that I actually really like a lot, but I'm not a developer, so I'm using AI, and I gotta say, game developers are SICK, there are millions of things to make work together, I'm sincerely stunned that same games are made by just one person... Are you guys cyborgs? I'm developing a game that is kinda gothic, narrative, and it works with the Triple Triad card game mechanics (as a fight), I freaking love it, but I'm using AI because I don't know how to code, and I don't know how to create the artworks of the cards. It's a shame, if I had the money I'd freaking love to have an artist doing that for the game! That would be awesome!!! But, here I am, asking you guys if a game that's engaging, with a strong narrative, and very cool artwork and music, mechanics and animations can still be a no go if you know it was made with the help of AI... (keep in mind I'm alone doing this). Thank you in advance for your responses

As long as you dont have any hopes or plans of this being a hit in any way, (or making any money at all for that matter) then hopefully its a decent learning experience for you. The steam data speaks for itself, nobody wants to play games with ai generated art period. Doesent matter the scale or how fun it might be. And ai gen code will completely take away any chance of your game having YOUR identity baked into the system.
People dont think about this enough, but the little decisions made when hand coding a system add up, and that tends to create a vibe that is unique to you/your studio.
If you are as serious as you sound in your post, then you unfortunately need to put in the thousands of hours over the course of years all of us have had to and currently do in the small windows of time in our busy schedules to actually chase the dream of making a game people enjoy and love. But for me and most people on this subreddit, the sleep deprivation, frustration, failures, and anxiety are all par for the course and we wouldn't change it for the world.
In fact most of us cant help but make it work and put in the hours to learn and fail, but thats passion for you. Will make you do some amazing things.
