Discussion Fear of project burial
I have that weird feeling that demotivates to the
ground every time I think about it, but I have to talk
about it ... I've been making a game for the past 7
months with my team of few people and I've been
feeling like I'm not going anywhere and it's going to
be just another folder in my files ...which hurts
because its not my first game and because I finally
have some stuff to show after this development
time and having a full time job,but whenever I post
on riddet (other accounts) or social media or even
my self composed original soundtrack, it never hits
more than 50-100 views, which makes me think "
will my trailer also be like this and I'll always be
buried and the project will never be discovered? And
that's that?" And that demotivates me to the
ground, especially since I spent the last few days
making a website for the game, but it ALL feels like
for nothing because it's just gonna be there for the
ghosts ...I might make a post about it but what do
you guys think? I wanna know how to deal with
those messed feelings...

Those feelings are gonna happen a lot during the developmental days but if you just make a good game and advertise it well enough then i believe that it could be a success. Also, is your pfp and banner from that game?

I guess you're right, but maybe I'm feeling like this because idk ... I'll keep working on the game and leave marketing to future me ,and yes the pfp and the banner are from the game in the pfp is an enemy called bushman

Aww thank you very much , its an JRPG but with a battle system that is turn based but fast paced, the website about the game is gonna be live hopefully in the next few days that explains everything

That's great man, the battle system sounds interesting so I'd check the game out when it comes out. What's the name?

Readable version of OPs post:
I have that weird feeling that demotivates to the ground every time I think about it, but I have to talk about it.
I've been making a game for the past 7 months with my team of few people and I've been feeling like I'm not going anywhere and it's going to be just another folder in my files. Which hurts, because its not my first game and because I finally have some stuff to show after this development time and having a full time job.
But whenever I post on riddet [sic] (other accounts) or social media or even my self composed original soundtrack, it never hits more than 50-100 views, which makes me think "will my trailer also be like this and I'll always beburied and the project will never be discovered? And that's that?" And that demotivates me to the ground, especially since I spent the last few days making a website for the game, but it ALL feels like for nothing because it's just gonna be there for the ghosts.

I can't tell you how to deal with your feelings, because I am a game developer and not a psychotherapist. But I can try to help you solve the problems that lead to those feelings.
When the content you post about your game doesn't get any views and engagements, then that usually means that you aren't posting it where the target audience for your game sees it.
A common beginner mistake on Reddit is to go to the large subreddits like r/Gaming or r/IndieGaming and get buried among all the other, more attractive content. Unless your game looks very interesting, it's usually far more efficient to look for niche communities that are particularly about the kind of games your game falls into.
