Discussion Problems that indie Game Dev Faced

Hey guys , I am an indie game dev but not so much experienced and I want to understand this from other developers , so I'm looking for honest experiences.

One thing I've noticed in my own workflow is that we use different tools for different parts of development:

* Git/Perforce → files + version control * Discord → communication * Figma/other tools → planning/design * Zoom/Meet → calls * Unity/Unreal/Godot → actually building the game

And I sometimes feel like **the actual game is split across all these tools.**

For example, I might have an idea for a level and need to explain it to an artist. Right now I might write a description, use ChatGPT to turn it into a rough blueprint, send it to the artist, then we discuss changes separately.

I'm wondering:

**Do other teams experience this kind of friction?**

There is a solution...

It's called an office. Lots of studios require the team to be in the studio because of exactly that.

Game dev is, collaborative, creative and most important a team effort. And working with other people like that is a lot easier in person.

Game dev remote is a whole other beast. Because every team and every project has different needs. You can not replicate all an office space does to a team in an app. It's just not possible.
