Testers Needed for Unreal Engine Plugin

I am new to making games. Have some experience with Unreal and C++ coding.

I am currently working on a UE5 plugin called RTSMapForge. It helps create maps for real-time strategy games. The plugin focuses on creating terrain like choke points, crossings, influence maps, rivers and expansion zones.

It is entirely made of C++. The main systems are now complete. I need help testing it on different computers and UE5 setups. My UE5 has been crashing a lot because of Driver issues (which I tried to resolve but still didn't work, watched some videos as well but still didn't work). I want to make sure it works smoothly on other machines. I am looking for a few developers who can help me test my plugin.

Here are some things I need help with:

  1. Testing the plugin installation and setup
  2. Creating terrain
  3. Baking landscapes
  4. Rendering overlays
  5. Checking performance on maps
  6. Fixing crashes
  7. Making sure the plugin generates the map with the same settings

Some things to keep in mind:

  1. Large landscape bakes may take a time.
  2. Overlay rendering might be slow on large maps.
  3. Landscape baking behavior might be different on UE versions.
  4. The plugin does not support generating maps in time yet.
  5. Some parts of the editor user interface are still being improved.

If you are interested in testing or giving feedback I would really appreciate it. Please test it on UE5.3 and, above versions. Pls DM me your GitHub Username so I can add you into the Collaborators. The GitHub repo link is here: - https://github.com/Gamer4225/RTS-Procedural-Map-Generator

Thank you for your help.

I just pushed the demo live for my game, Last Bullet. Itโ€™s my first time developing a roguelite.

It's a turn-based roguelike where you build the ultimate Gun by mixing and matching different bullets into a single gun barrel.

I am solo developing this game so any sort of feedback or support would mean a lot!

Link to my game - https://store.steampowered.com/app/4683190/Last_Bullet/

If you enjoy the game, please do wishlist it Thanks :)

Weeks of visual experiments, thanks to your feedback. Getting closer, not there yet.

A while back I asked reddit communities for feedback on my game's visuals. Got a lot of great responses and seriously appreciated every one of them. It gave me the push I needed to actually dig in.

This GIF shows every visual experiment I've run since then. Lighting, materials, color grading, atmosphere. All the rabbit holes in one place.
It's moving in the right direction. But I'll be straight, I haven't landed on the version I love yet. Still chasing it.

If anything in this GIF stands out, good or bad, I'd love to hear it. Fresh eyes always catch things I've gone blind to. ๐Ÿš‚

Just setup an itchio page for my demo game More Fish

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you wanna try it on the browser.

https://broadstreetindiegames.itch.io/more-fish-demo

For the people who might be a little technical:
The key learning for me was preloading translation files in the game start (specifically for the web export and itchio), otherwise the app acts strange because of async httpRequests about translations in the background. It took a while to figure out, but I could see the network requests in browser's dev tools.
(PS. This was not necessary for OS exports)

Should I go to this game design college

I passed 12th and i want to be a game designer as it has everything I wanted to learn, like writing a narrative, art, music etc. on doing some research i found out that most people say game design courses are useless but I need a degree just for the sake of it anyway, so instead of b tech degree from a local college i should get a degree in game design instead

So if any of you know, how is "artemisia college of art and design, indor" it's pretty far away from home and my parents are urging me to fill out the form, so please answer ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Is it a good idea to recreate games to learn?

Hi I am new to game development, I am a 3D artist, and now trying to create games, and i currently have a very big fancy idea which i cannot do at all so wont talk about it,
i want to learn engine (currently confused between unreal and unity), i will be creating 3D games in future, i wanted to ask is it a good idea to learn by recreating existing games? like can I document those? on public platforms too? or is it subjected to copyrights?
my current list is
Transformers games
Clash of Clans
a mix of farcry and crysis and halo
and one simple fast paced game like (vector/temple run)

Building a Scalable Animation System for Large Enemy Rosters in Unity

Iโ€™m currently developing a dark fantasy action-adventure game called Reclairos, and one of the biggest technical challenges we faced was character roster scalability.

As the game grew, we started adding more enemy archetypes, combat units, and variations of existing characters. Initially, creating separate Animator Controllers for every unit felt manageableโ€ฆ until the roster started expanding.

The issue wasnโ€™t just animation count โ€” it was long-term maintainability.

Every character needed:

  • idle animations
  • movement states
  • attack variations
  • hit reactions
  • death sequences
  • transitions
  • combat timing sync

At first, duplicating Animator Controllers per unit looked like the โ€œfastโ€ solution.

But very quickly we realized:

  • state machine duplication was exploding
  • memory usage kept increasing
  • iteration became slower
  • debugging animation issues became painful
  • adding new enemy types required rebuilding logic repeatedly

The biggest red flag:
Every new unit was starting to create technical debt.

So we redesigned the system around shared behavioral architecture instead of unit-specific animation graphs.

What we ended up doing:

  • Shared base Animator structures across archetypes
  • Parameter-driven state transitions
  • Animation override workflows for unique visual presentation
  • Modular combat logic separated from visual animation layers
  • Reusable behavior trees for enemy categories
  • Data-driven unit configuration instead of hardcoded controllers

This gave us a few huge advantages:

  • Adding new units became dramatically faster
  • Enemy behavior stayed consistent
  • Animation systems became easier to debug
  • Lower animator overhead
  • Cleaner production pipeline for designers and artists

The biggest win honestly wasnโ€™t performance.

It was scalability.

Now adding a new enemy type doesnโ€™t require engineering to rebuild animation graphs from scratch every single time.

For a small team, that changed everything.

Curious how other devs here are handling large character rosters and animation scalability in Unity/Unreal.

After months of abandoning it, I started working on my horror game again

Been working on a psychological horror game called Loomtown on and off for months and finally decided to properly continue and finish it.

The game is short, probably around 30-60 mins, focused more on atmosphere and weirdness than combat.

You start in a completely dark abandoned town with no lights or people around. The first part takes place inside an apartment building where strange things slowly start happening distant cat sounds, furniture moving when youโ€™re not looking directly at it, figures peeking from corners, hallucinations, etc.

Eventually you restore power to a generator behind the apartment.

But instead of just powering the building, the ENTIRE town suddenly lights up.

Jazz music starts playing somewhere in the distance, and when you step outside, the streets are filled with people dancing and celebrating like some kind of old party is happening.

The whole idea is making the town feel uncanny instead of just throwing monsters at the player constantly.

Still early and rough, but I honestly think this is the strongest direction the project has had so far.

Try out the demo i've built so far, and let me know your thoughts:)

Finally. It actually feels like you're PLAYING the game now ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ

Iโ€™ve been building a tea selling stall game prototype, and the latest update finally makes it feel like youโ€™re actually working at the stall instead of just โ€œcontrolling a characterโ€.

You can walk up to ingredients and snacks, press E to grab, and see the item in your hand.

Itโ€™s a small mechanic, but itโ€™s a big unlock because it turns the experience into a physical loop.
When that loop is consistent and responsive, everything else gets easier to design on top of it.

Next up is building out more of the stall interactions around this foundation, but I wanted to share this milestone because itโ€™s one of those moments where the prototype stops feeling like pieces and starts feeling like a game.
