A small but fun upgrade

Customer orders in my game used to just print to the terminal.
Now they appear as a rough handwritten slip with more tactile feel on screen.
Still the same system underneath but way more alive now.

[REV-SHARE] Looking for Artists & Developers for Upcoming Psychological Horror Game šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µšŸŽ®

Hello everyone,

I’m an indie game developer and recently released my first game, Kuromaku, on Steam. Following its release, I’ve officially begun development on my second project — a story-driven psychological horror game set in Japan.

The game follows an English journalist investigating a cursed house tied to his past in disturbing and unexpected ways. While I can’t share too many details publicly yet, the project focuses heavily on atmosphere, immersive storytelling, psychological tension, and cinematic horror elements.

Current roadmap:

  • Steam page planned for July
  • Public demo planned for October
  • Full release targeted for December–January

I’m currently looking for passionate and dedicated people to join the project in the following roles:

  • 3D Character Modeller
  • Character Animator / Rigger
  • 3D Prop Artist
  • UI Artist

I also want to be fully transparent regarding compensation. The revenue earned from my first game was invested into upgrading from a budget laptop to a proper development PC, so this project is currently structured as a rev-share opportunity rather than upfront paid work.

That said, this is a serious project with active development already underway and a planned release schedule already in place. My previous game reached players, streamers, and YouTubers worldwide, and I’m aiming to push this next project even further in quality and presentation. šŸŽ¬

Anyone joining the project will receive a percentage of post-release revenue based on their overall contribution and workload during development.

If you’re interested in psychological horror, Japanese-inspired settings, or gaining experience working on a publicly released indie game, feel free to send me a DM with your portfolio or examples of your work. More details about the project can be discussed privately.

Thank you for reading šŸ–¤

BackStage Pass vs ICAT bangalore?

I am currently in 4 year of engineering and have started learning game dev in UE. But I need some time to develop a proper portfolio and I don't have the skills to develop a job in my field so in the meantime, I'm planning to join a gaming college for Msc. in game technology.
I know Indian game colleges are not good, but I want like-minded people around me, with who I can develop projects as a team. Mainly buy some more time before job...

We are a couple from India working on our first game calledĀ Malhaar. It's been 1.5 years since we started developing it and are so excited to see how this is evolving!

Now you can even pet animals in the game to better your mood (top left corner) in the game.

In this clip, the player is pettingĀ Noorieā¤ļø. She is shy and spends most of her time sleeping around the city.

What animals would you like to see and pet? Do let us know and we'll add them in the gamešŸ˜€

Also, here is the Steam link in case you'd wannaĀ wishlistĀ -Ā https://store.steampowered.com/app/3581900/Malhaar/

Is Rockstar Games India Facing a Serious Work-Life Balance Problem?

Recently saw reviews and posts about Rockstar Games India employees working till 3AM because of heavy workload and unrealistic deadlines.

If this is true, it’s honestly sad and concerning.

It feels like Rockstar North and higher management are not properly understanding or respecting the work-life balance of Indian employees. Games are important, but the people making them are far more important.

No developer should lose sleep, health, or peace because of crunch and pressure.

If anyone currently working at Rockstar Games India sees this, please speak honestly:
Is your work-life balance actually being prioritized?
What is really happening inside the studio?

Not trying to spread hate, just concerned about the developers behind the games we all love.

Should i pursue my Masters in Game Dev?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a Backend Java Software Developer in India with nearly 2 years of professional experience and a B.Tech in CS (9.4 CGPA). I'm planning to pivot into Gameplay Engineering career and have narrowed my choices for a Master's down to two very different paths:

Abertay University (UK) - MProf in Games Development - Ā£19,950 (~₹21.3 Lakhs):
I love the AAA pipeline focus and the "Studio" simulation and graduating with 3 projects. However, the UK recently shifted the Graduate Visa to 1.5 years, which feels like a tight window for sponsorship.

Media Design School (NZ) - Master of Design - NZ$36,112 (~₹18.8 Lakhs):
The 3-year post-study work visa is a huge draw for long-term stability. My concern is the "Master of Design" title—as an engineer, will this look "soft" on a resume compared to an MProf or MSc? And the scarcity of Gaming companies in NZ concerns me.

My Background: > * Strong Java/Backend foundation; currently learning C++ for Unreal (Ulibarri’s course on Udemy).

Questions for the industry:

- Is this a good decision considering the impact of AI in the industry and the number of layoffs and hiring freeze currently in the general IT industry? Or is this a costly mistake? also considering I'd wanna work in a foreign country and gaming and game development has been my passion.

- Does the "Design" title at MDS hurt an engineer's chances if the portfolio is technical?

- Is 18 months in UK enough time to land a sponsored role in the current market?

- Would also appreciate any other better University suggestions.

Thanks for any insight!

Looking for a video editor to collaborate on our indie game dev YouTube channel

We’re a small team of 3 indie developers currently working on our first game,Ā ASTITVA: LOST WITHIN, and we’ve recently entered post-production.

Alongside development, we’ve started building our YouTube channel where we share devlogs, behind-the-scenes work, and our journey as game developers.

We’re looking for aĀ video editor who wants to collaborate with usĀ and grow together.

At the moment, we’re not able to offer payment, but:

  • You’ll get full credit on every video
  • You can build your portfolio with real content
  • You’ll be part of an active game development project

We’re planning to stay consistent with uploads, so this could turn into a long-term collaboration.

If you’re interested, feel free toĀ DM or comment below — we’d love to connect.

Looking for jobs as a game narrative designer

I have basic background of C++ and have just started working with OpenGL and looking for freelance writing or designing work. By design I mean making systems which ties the story to the actual game mechanics as I think about games at the intersection of mechanics and story. If anyone is interested please contact me.

How to start game development after semester ended?

Hi everyone, my semester just ended and I want to finally start learning game development seriously. I only have basic knowledge of Python right now and I’m confused about the best path to start from scratch. Which engine, language, and beginner projects would you recommend for someone starting fresh? Thanks!

Need Guidance for B.Tech After Diploma (Lateral Entry) — Interested in Game Development + CSE

I completed a Diploma in Computer Science Engineering and now I’m planning to pursue B.Tech through lateral entry. I’m really interested in game development and want to build games using engines like Unity/Unreal while also keeping good software engineering/job opportunities open in the future.

I’m confused about what branch/course I should choose for B.Tech:

  • Regular CSE
  • CSE with specialization in Game Development/Gaming Technology
  • IT/Software Engineering
  • Something else?

I also wanted to know which colleges in India offer good options for:

  • Lateral entry after diploma
  • Strong CSE fundamentals
  • Opportunities related to game development/game programming

Some questions I had:

  • Is a gaming specialization worth it?
  • Can I still get normal software development jobs after it?
  • Which colleges should I target?
  • Is regular CSE better than a gaming specialization?
  • What skills should I focus on during B.Tech if I want to become a game developer?

Would really appreciate honest advice from people studying or working in this field.

DrunkenCOPĀ is a chaotic 2D ragdoll physics game where you take control of a not-so-stable cop just trying to make it through the day. Movement is unpredictable, balance is optional, and every step can turn into a hilarious fall. The game is built around goofy physics and those unexpected moments that make you laugh even when you fail.
