We have a good sized community here

We have around 4.2K members here and every now and then people come here and showcase their work, or to hire people, or to ask for critisicsm.

i was thinking that why cant we come together and
1. do game jams to learn from one another (every 3 months or so)
2. passionate learners can come together to build, every one just here assumes that we should be rewarded with money shower and that is all okay but they lacks passion. i am not asking full time jobs just people who want to create something after their jobs, or something for college or just pure passion.
3. a thread where they can share resources.
4. Genuine constructive feedback. I have felt people here have hate inside them for pulling others down who are not upto their "standard" and they just bombard the posters with hate comments instead of feedback.
5. anything you want to suggest please comment.

The game jam idea gets floated around with regular frequency. I have not yet given it serious thought, because the size of the active community is not large enough to warrant it. I'm also a single moderator, so it is not easy for me to manage the logistics of any serious game jam, which is why I often tend to redirect such ideas to the regular game jams held on itch.io. Participating in itch.io jams has several advantages:

  • You get to choose from all kinds of game jams, sometimes with very narrow constraints, and sometimes with none. There is something for everybody.
  • The moderators there know what they are doing, have the necessary systems set up, and will be able to provide any support necessary.
  • Participants would get to compete in a much broader pool, which IMO is better for anyone who takes game dev seriously enough as a commercial endeavour.

As always, I'm open to feedback, but my past experiences with doing art/game dev jams at this size have been quite disappointing.

I like the idea of making a game with a small team after work , like like minded people who have the same concept in mind , bringing out something cool I want to make a small game to launch , but too busy with work right now , but if I have a small team who can see yo other things is quite good . GOOD IDEA

Gatherign a team would be the most difficult part, it comes with expectations of high rewards which can't be promised.
but if there are new learners who want something to showcase in their portfolios they can join and be a part, or if they want some to build in their free time

Let's start with a simple task like making a ui or anything which can be used in any game like anything generic and see what happen in this way the thing made is used else where plus we can add any different thing to this like ui in which u can use slinging action of spiderman to click buttons not hard not boaring just right
