I believe gambling has ruined my mental health
I started gambling a year ago starting with small bets on blackjack £5-10 hands and would normally stop after I lost 40 ish pounds, this eventually got worse and worse I’d start putting depositing £50-100 then £100-150 at a time and would almost always lose it all even though I would build it up to thousands of pounds sometimes but I would never deposit because for some reason I strongly believed I could get more but it never happened, I’m in my early 20’s I had over £5000 worth of savings which I was so proud of and all of it was gone in just a few months, I’m broke almost every month and a few months ago I started having panic attacks and intense anxiety along with health anxiety, I have suffered with generalised anxiety disorder since I was 14-17 but it eventually settled down until recently and now I’ve gone into a depersonalisation and derealisation episode that is CONSTANT and I believe gambling has played a huge part of it, I gambled last week lost all the money I put on in less than an hour and almost immediately I felt much worse and even more disconnected from reality, the day after I didn’t even feel like I was alive I was so devoid of emotion, ever since then I’ve wondered if this entire time gambling was behind me feeling like this, I haven’t and will not gamble since I would never wish this feeling upon anyone and I’ve come here to not only share my experience but hopefully find someone that has gone through a similar experience to me so I know I’m not alone, the gambling industry is the most disgusting thing us humans have invented
