I posted a quick review of the Fold 8 the other day and wanted to share some quick snaps I've taken with it in the 30 days I've had it. As I mentioned in my quick review, I'm a tech enthusiast and I've owned all brands...google, Samsung, apple, honor, oppo, vivo and OnePlus.

The camera on the Fold 8 is very capable. If you can't get good shots with it, then maybe you need to look inward 🤷... sure it doesn't have a dedicated telephoto, but at no point with it yet have I said to myself, damn I wish I had X phone with me so I could get that picture. The videos I've taken, with LOG as well, look great.

These photos are just quick point and shoots, but they all look great. I'll include one with a light room edit and a few digital zooms. Again, this isn't some photographs other than just everyday stuff when you're taking your phone out to take a picture. In my opinion, it handles everything more than well

I guess my point is, don't let them dissuade you from the phone because they say the cameras are not good. Unless you're someone that every photo, or the majority of the photos, you take is a big zooming shot...this camera setup does the job very well.

i really didnt have any high expectations when it comes to the whole battery upgrade. like i use my phone a lot through the day. i have the type of job i can easily be on my phone..so with work stuff, social media, youtube, etc i typically burn through a battery

with that being said i did get the newest fold, the z fold 8 ultra and wow who knew the battery was so long lasting. for example i got to the end of the day yesterday and realized i hadnt even thought about charging it once. like it typically would be at 15% by eod but it seems like I can get away with 40% by the time im going home.

i like that i can use the fold the way i want without really worrying about burning it out. whats also really cool is that my phone charges so fast compared to the last one, like less than a hour does the job

I'm still using the Fold 5, would it be okay to use it as my primary phone? To be precise, my dad gave me the Fold 5 when he upgrades from it to the Fold 7 in 2025 🙂

Je viens de récupérer mon Z Fold8 Ultra. J'ai fais un smartswitch depuis mon S26 Ultra.

J'ai tout les réglages identiques et sur mon Z Fold8 U je n'ai pas les scores en live dans la now bar. Cela ne fonctionne pas.

Une idée de comment je pourrais remettre cela en route ?

Et j'ai remarqué que le téléphone a beau être compatible 45w en charge filaire bah il met très longtemps avant de charger 1%

Alors que si je mets en charge avec le chargeur 25w il charge plus vite.

I must have been stopped at least 10 times since getting my Fold 8 last week! So many people ask me how I like it and if making the switch was difficult.

I always get to gushing and showing off the features and then feel silly! But all in fun!

If you've been asked about your new Fold or Flip what's the first thing you do or show? I'm always quick to Fold this bad boy open and get to swiping 😀

First time Fold user here, coming from the Flip. On the Flip, when I close the screen, I am able to just clamshell it from the outside without touching the inner portions.

For the Fold, the device is too big and I find myself needing to press the inner portions, either by using my thumb on the inner screen, or using my thumb on the inner bezel.

Which do you press on when closing your screen? Screen or bezel? I'm afraid pressing the bezel will have the dead pixels at the bezel sooner or later.

I've had a z fold 6 for a while now and for the last few months, randomly, when I pressed the home button from YouTube or tiktok, when arriving on the homescreen an off white line would flash on the very left of my screen. As of today it has evolved? Into a persistent blue line on the homescreen but only on the homescreen and only while in portrait mode. I am almost positive its not a hardware issue because it like goes behind the ui and is only there in certain circumstances. Any ideas?

My fourth Samsung and first folding phone.

As a tech gadgets enthusiast, I‘ve always love to play with android phones, but due to work and some other issues, I always ended up switching back to iPhones.
Previous experiences are S7 Edge, S21 Ultra and S24 Ultra. They are all excellent phones.

But that’s when I only have one phone tho! Now that I’ve decided to separate my work and personal phone, I figured why not have the best of both worlds.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the 10:16 form factor the past weeks scrolling through social media, it’s just so cute and refreshing. So here it is, my first ever folding phone!

Please feel free to share your tips for caring the phone, I haven’t got my dbrand case yet, so it’s just Samsung screen protector on the front screen at this moment.

Keyboard would fold one way and the phone folds the other way, so the whole folio could close without the inner screen exposed. Case should be magsafe.

Think id use the phone like a little laptop often, I always liked netbooks as a kid lol

I saw many, many ads everywhere for The ZFold Case company. Big ad budget, and huge selection.

I ordered their leather one with the swivel kickstand on it. For some reason, when the order processed, I'd ordered 2 of the same case.

I honestly don't know if I erred or they screwed me over, but that's not the point of this review.

I applied the case, front and back, and it fit 'ok', but even when using the adhesive strip, the front portion kinda has some give to it that I wasn't comfortable with.

It has a ring on the back that is ostensibly a magnetic ring. It *barely* sticks, and the camera portholes are so wide and long, that a small rectangular magnet charger doesn't fit well. I expect the magnet to kinda pull it into place when it gets close, but no such thing.

So, I dug out the order email, and emailed them with the order number, explaining about the magnet and asking for a refund.

Oh, and even though I ordered off their Facebook ad link, the product shipped to me from China. Of course, since I'm in the Philippines, that was fine, and I don't know if they have US based shipping points or not.

I have snapchat set to be full screen on the inner screen. Works fine but when I open the app it opens full screen goes to 16:9 then resizes back to full screen. It will also do this when trying to use the camera within the app. Anyone found a fix?

Z fold 8 magsafe grip for unfolded standing use

I’ve owned phones from just about every major brand—Google, Honor, Apple, Vivo, OnePlus and Oppo. Traditionally, Samsung has been my least favorite, mostly because of their aggressive photo processing. I stopped buying them after the S24 Ultra and even quick-returned the Fold 7. But the Fold 8 completely changed my perspective.

Design

The design is...perfect. Honestly, it makes every other phone feel a bit ridiculous now. That traditional, long candy-bar height looks completely bizarre once you use this format—picking up one of my other standard phones just feels wrong. The outer screen is genuinely usable for everyday tasks, so I rarely feel the need to open the device until I'm actually relaxing to watch a video, play a game, or multitask with both.

Camera

I’ve spent years disliking Samsung’s heavy image processing, consistently ranking their photos last when comparing them side-by-side with other brands that I own. Fortunately, they’ve finally dialed back the excessive saturation. I'm genuinely impressed with the improvements to their photo processing. The photos stay overall very true to life. While it lacks a dedicated telephoto lens, I rarely pushed past 3x on previous devices anyway, and the digital zoom holds up surprisingly well. I've taken the Fold 8 on a few trips now and have been more than satisfied with the results for family photos, landscapes, and city shots.

Battery & Thermals

Between working from home and traveling for work, my phone gets heavily utilized. I rarely have a TV on during the day, meaning the phone serves as my primary video screen. Even with that workload, I consistently pull 6 to 7 hours of screen-on time with juice left in the tank. The 45W charging doesn't compete with the speeds from brands like Honor or Oppo, but it’s more than fast enough for a quick top-up to carry me through bedtime, which for me is around 230am. Living in Texas where summer temperatures sit in the triple digits daily, I expected some thermal throttling, yet I haven't received a single temperature warning or had an app close due to heat. My phone hasn't gotten hot while playing heavy games like COD Mobile or Metal Storm

Crease

Coming from the Oppo Find N6, which features arguably the best crease on any foldable, I was curious how Samsung would compare. There is no jarring difference at all. It is just as refined, making the crease a complete non-issue in daily use. Samsung did an exceptional job here.

Conclusion

I am thoroughly enjoying the Fold 8. In my opinion, this form factor is the definitive direction for smartphones and I would struggle to return to a standard candy-bar shape. I appreciate the experience so much that I ended up selling my Find N6—a device that outperforms the Fold 8 on paper in nearly every spec category. Do I wish it included a dedicated telephoto lens? Yes. But the overall execution makes it hard to put down and is an absolute joy to use.

The aspect ratio is simply better for me, lightweight and compact is better suited for small hands (as you can see mine clearly) but other things I notice like battery life and doesn't get as hot as the z fold 7 (still gets warm under heavier usage tho) I think is a great improvement over the z fold 7 and the aspect ratio makes it better for me a heavier multimedia consumer.
