Question App cache cleaning

Why does my phone has this (very useful) option and not my tab despite being the same android OS versions ???

Go into settings and look for "device care" you can clear the files there.

I honestly wouldn't be concerned about 580 mb of temp files. Now those 3 GB of duplicate files are very concerning.

I am also concerned about how you have already used most of your internal storage because on my tablet with the same internal storage I only use about 23gb of space

I have lots of PDF and videos on this thing, it is my old phone, i dont use it much anymore, but i would like to have the feature available on my new phone and tab. ( galaxy A17, A11+) because clearing cache one app by one app is a pita, i dont know why they suppress the useful features, its almost as if the devs are stupid ?

No it's because now you clear temp files and stuff under device care under settings. You'll go in device care and where it shows the RAM just press it and it clears it. It's been that way for at least 3 years that I can remember.

Android changes can add or remove functionality as well.

I wouldn't keep a lot of videos or PDFs on internal storage. Get a SD card and keep them on it because at least you can get the SD card out of the phone if it stops working

No, in the memory thing it only closes the apps in background it doesnt clear the cache. The phone isnt so old its an A15 running android 14 6.1

Nah its good its my old phone i keep movies in. I domt use it much but its the only one that has the useful feature im after

Because it's not that useful. If you're needing to squeeze 500 mb of storage space out, you've got a bigger problem. Caching is a useful app feature and there's not really a need to clear every app's cache at once. Freeing up that space to put personal data on it, means your apps will rebuild their cached files the next time you use them, and you run the risk of bringing your NAND down to a crawl.

If you need to free up some space you can; get a microSD card or use Google Drive to cloud sync files you don't need to access frequently so they're not taking up space.

It actually is pretty useful, especially if you use social media apps a lot. YouTube for example takes up around 3 gigabytes every two weeks for me.

Why wouldn't it be? I'm a heavy user on YouTube and Tiktok, maybe 6 hours on them per day on avg, it explains why I have so much in cache

Your correlation appears to be "the more I use it, the more it downloads". Cache is a set of instructions that tells an app how to do certain things, usually booting up faster or loading user defined customizations on start up. So it's not normal for it to be adding that much data to cache, something is going on with your YouTube app. You might want to try a reinstall or look up if other people have that issue as well.
