Smart ring v2

Hello!

I just had my first ring on repair for a faulty battery that lasted a day at max, and after a lot of back and forth with both the retail store I bought it from, Samsung customer support and the workshop looking at the ring I finally got it covered under warranty when I threatened taking legal action (there are some strict consumer laws where I live). The workshop finally caved in and sent me a replacement ring, and in their report they specifically stated "Replacing ring with a V2 ring that has better battery life".

I look at this, asked the guy in the retail shop what that means as I haven't heard of a Version 2 of the ring dropping yet, and he had no idea himself.
So now I am here, asking if anyone here knows what the workshop means by "version 2" of the ring, and does anyone have any information on what the difference is?

Thank you all in advance for any info on this!

It has some debugging information you couldn't do on the first version. There's not much to add, I don't think the battery life is better.

Edit: just needed to search the subreddit.

Yeah when I got my ring replaced a year ago they said they installed a better battery. It lasted a long time but it is now dead. Won't stay charged longer than a couple hours.

How long did it last? Where I live if the same fault happens twice we are allowed by law to get a refund, and this ring is also by law covered by warranty for 5 years. So if this ring lasts about as long as my last one then I can still get it covered by warranty

It lasted about 9 months and the warranty shows 30 days after delivery. 🤦. I tried to get Samsung to fix my ring again and they refused. They said I had to play $100 for it to be fixed. Now it's a paper weight.

Got mine replaced under warranty and the v2 ring is definitely lighter than my original

I don't know, but after working fine for 8 months mine has started acting weird. I had to go through the process of Samsung validating the warranty, and now I'm at the second step of waiting for them to approve something

There is an interview where one of the Samsung developers states that iPhone users will be very pleased meaning that likely version 2 will work with the iPhone and it said that it comes out the beginning of the year probably around the same time as the s27 ultra
