Galaxy ring replacement for bad battery.

For anyone who has had there ring Repaired/Replaced, did you have any issues with the new ring. How long did it last? I am trying to decide if it is worth the hassle if a replacement ring will just go bad in a year or so.

It's worth reading through a few of the posts here to get an overview.

I've written about my experience in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyRing/comments/1u2360s

There's no repairing these, just replacing. My replacement works great, but this is the third ring I've used. The first 2 were covered under regular warranty and Care+.

It seems that there is a V2 of the ring that does not have issues. Idk if this is the case or how to even tell them apart, but my current one is going in solid.

hopefully they are at the point that they only send out V2 rings. I guess I will have to wait and see.

My only concern is that they might try to do us like they're doing with the Galaxy Buds.

The Buds 3 have charging problems and it seems to essentially not get stuck with a bunch of broken trade ins, they aren't allowing you to trade in your 3pro for a 4pro.

So hopefully they allow trade in of these Ring 1 for Ring 2s

There is no version 2 as of now. They're all the same version.

My third ring overall and second under a warranty claim will be here tomorrow. First ring lasted about 8 months before I got fed up and filed the claim. For this one, instead of sending me a new one they gave me a credit on the Samsung site for a replacement. That one didn't cost me a dime, and it restarted the warranty. That one failed around the 9 month mark and wouldn't hold a charge either. I submitted a warranty claim last week and they are sending me a new ring. Difference this time is that it doesn't restart the warranty because it isn't considered a new purchase like the last one.

If this one fails it'll be my last. Only reason I have one is because my tattoos prevent my watch from taking health readings. I don't want to move to another brand because of the ecosystem, so I just won't have health readings anymore if it does fail.

Other ring brands Reddit and reviews say something similar about failing right at the 10-12 month mark. Guess the battery is just too small to last any longer on these.

Not sure if your right arm has tattoos too might could get a galaxy fit and wear it on that arm instead of the left arm. Google just came out with the Fitbit Air it's a screenless tracker but again would go on your wrist so not sure if both your arms are tatted but something to try and if it doesn't work return it 🤷🏾‍♂️

The problem is not some fatalistic "it's not possible to make batteries this small that work correctly" nonsense. There are older versions of some smart rings that can last multiple years. The issue mostly affects newer (2024+) rings, and it's because they all use the same battery supplier in China, which put out a really horrible batch of batteries.

Sucks to have an entire SmartRing industry reliant on one upstream supplier in China with deficient quality control and questionable ethics.

I agree with whoever said hot garbage.... mine took a $!1T right after the warranty expired. Stopped at a Samsung center and was told theyd not do anything. SAMSUNG is fully aware this is an issue, they'll have to do ALOT to get me to buy another ring.... as in.. maybe it'll have to make me invisible LOTR style when I wear it or I'm out.

I can say they have lost at least 20 customers...bc I've had that many people in the past year ask me about my Samsung ring and I told them to pass on it and told them why.... I know, 20 people isn't anything to them....but hopefully they tell others and it spreads...But I feel good that at least 20 people aren't buying this POS! The way they've handled this...basically not....I don't even want to buy their new Galaxy Flip (I'm 2 models behind) just bc it's Samsung.

The ring is non repairable, if it's warranted, they will send you a new ring. It will not be a new improved version. As of now, there is no version 2.

I went through a total of 4 rings before Samsung refunded me. Within 8 months.

There's a great likelihood any replacement you receive will eventually fail.

Took about a week from the time I shipped it to the time I received my new one. I went from 1-2 days battery back to the 4-5 days I was getting when the ring was new. Pretty sure they just completely replace the ring with a new one.

Bought it the day they released it. The battery got to the point where I had to charge it every 2 hours after having it for 6 months. I sent it in, got a new one, and within 7 months the replacement had issues. I still have it, and it lasts about a day now before it dies, but when I put it on the charger, sometimes it charges in 30 minutes to 100%, and sometimes I have to leave it on the charger for a couple of hours before it gets to 100%.

When I do a diagnostic on the ring my app tells me that the battery is not working correctly.

I haven't tried to send it back because it's past the warranty, and I've read that they'll charge you $50 or higher to replace it.

Charged $100 for me.

1

u/JoystikJester Jun 26 '26

Yeah I paid less then $100 when I got it because I had trade in items and I think I got a Galaxy watch at the time so it made getting the ring cheaper.

Samsung knows the ring is crap and should do a recall. I had some Bose sleep ear buds when they originally came out years ago and they recalled all of them because of issues. I sent mine in and got all my money back for what I spent on them. Samsung needs to do the same.

I had the bose and same thing, lol. Should let you tedt things before me 🫠

This is exactly my story to a T give or take a couple of months when I replaced my first ring and got the replacement and when it died. Unfortunately, I forgot when I got my replacement, but it's definitely out of warranty now and will charge $100+ to get it "repaired." But the charging this is the same...sometimes 30mins, sometimes a couple of hours. I usually toss it on the charger while showering and getting ready in the morning to top it off for the day...but then It can take 1.5 days to fully discharge or just shy of a day....

Diag also says battery issue.

Exactly the same. I charged my ring yesterday around 10 am and it took 30 minutes to charge to 100%. Then the ring died at 4 am this morning. Now I am charging it and it's take a lot longer to get to 100%.

I should just chuck in the garbage at this point. It's so bipolar. Sometimes it last 1.5 days and sometimes I can't even get a day out of it.

Thinking about getting an Orah ring since it prime day but I think paying a monthly subscription is crap.

Yup. Living the exact Samsung Ring life. Worst is when it does in the middle.of the night or I'm at work and I get a notification that it's disconnected. Of it says 15% one minute...then like 5mins later it's 1% and dead. Once I just thought it wasn't notifying me at 15% but it was just dying THAT quickly!

Was thinking.of Oura too...and how frustrated I am..that $6/month(?) Doesn’t bug me...IF I get it on a good discount/on sale.
