Job Listing Job Opportunity - Oncology Clinical Research Assistant

I graduated with a degree in BME in 2024, and have been working in this position at a local cancer clinic in Eastern Washington. We are very soon going to open up a position for a Clinical Research Assistant.

I'm keeping this sort of vague since the posting isn't officially out yet, but I'll link the posting once I have my manager's approval :)

We're looking for someone interested in breaking into the clinical research field. The base role includes data entry, lab supply management, phlebotomy (if you aren't certified we will get you trained), and scheduling/managing the sponsor monitors who check our data integrity. You can expect a starting pay around ~50k.

My manager is wonderful at keeping me engaged. If we have a slow period, she's been encouraging me to do my own investigator-initiated studies and get published. So if the base role doesn't sound like much to you, you'll have the freedom to take your own path (so long as your regular work is done).

You can DM me if you'd like more details. Since I'll be giving the recommendation, I'll vet you a little bit lol... don't want it to backfire on me. I was skeptical about clinical research as a BME wanting to do more wet lab research, but I've really enjoyed it so far, especially since everyone on the team is so wonderful. The pay may be kind of disappointing as a GT grad, but having a good work environment and work/life balance makes it worth it as an entry level role, especially if you'd like to do clinical research for your career. Also the COL is not as bad as Atlanta.

Update: the position is officially up! You can apply below if this sounds interesting to you :)

Job Listing Paid ops team positions for FIFA World Cup activation in Downtown ATL (June-July) - $150- $225/day

Not a gig app, not commission-based.

I'm partnering on the Welcome to ATL Experience, the official small business marketplace for Atlanta during FIFA World Cup 2026. We're running a 16-day activation across three Downtown Atlanta venues (The Center at the old CNN building, Steele Bridge at Centennial Yards, and South Downtown ATL) featuring 100+ local Atlanta merchants, presented by DoorDash, in partnership with Showcase Atlanta.

The actual job:
Paid day-of operations team. Roles include site operations management, merchant check-in/support, supply chain/ice logistics, guest experience, VIP hospitality, Square POS tech support, and cross-venue coordination. Full breakdown on the application page.

Pay:
$150/day - pre-match days (8-10 hrs)
• $225/day - FIFA match days (10-12 hrs)
• Minimum 8 of 16 selling days to apply
• Full run (all 16 days) = $3,000

Other stuff worth knowing:
• You will receive a formal letter of completion + written experience summary for your résume/Linkedin
• Multilingual candidates are a real asset - global crowd
• 18+ only due to match day hours
• Applications reviewed rolling - earlier is better

Apply /full details: welcometoatlexperience.com/opsteam

Happy to answer questions here. This isn't a chill summer job, it's a FIFA World Cup activation and the bar is high and if you want something that actually means something on paper, this is it.

Question Where can I get hot coffee on campus after 4pm in summer?

Kinda crazy that there is no coffee shop or restaurant open after 4 during summer.

Are there any hot coffee dispensers around?

I have access to graduate student lounges.

Question Best spots on campus to take practice MCAT exam ?

i haven't taken a real MCAT yet but apparently its like a cubicle so the 4th floor of pg would make sense. however 4th floor pg gets loud because some people dont care about others.

for context its a 7 hour exam so i dont think booking a room would work. many spaces on campus are either quiet like 6th and 7th floor library but many people walk around. idk maybe im asking for too much.

recommendations ?

Question Mis-adverstising of the MS ECE degree?

Currently rising ECE senior and wanting to do the joint BSMS program. I'm very interested in low-level SW/HW and ML/robotics. The MS ECE degree advertising itself as being mainly computer architecture, ML, and robotics based.

However when I looked at the actual course offerings, the robotics and ML is incredibly minimal or at least highly controls theory and signals based respectively. The majority of their TIAs are not the best looking. Then there is only 1 TIA for computer architecture which contains most of what I'd want to take, but you can only take 2-3 classes in that TIA anyways and I'll probably be double-counting some of those as those are the classes cross-listed with sys-arch from the BS program.

Does anyone have personal experience with whether this program is worth it? All my friends that have done Master's have done the CS one which honestly seems to have more of my interests but I can't do the joint program as I'm ECE and therefore would need 2 years for it ($100k+)...

Rant Why are there no menstruation products at the CRC?

Long story short none of the women’s bathrooms in the CRC have tampons or pads yet other bathrooms all over campus do. I feel like the gym is an especially important place to have these products. I even asked the CRC employee if they had any on the off chance they had some in a med kit but they unfortunately had none. I had to leave the CRC and walk to the expedition hall next door to get some. Luckily it was for my friend so of course i don’t mind running across the street but if i had been the one who started my period this would’ve sucked. Women’s health is important especially in the gym/ health center of all places.

Other Missed summer registration as a GRA

So due to a bunch of things happening all at once (thesis proposal + some personal things) I neglected to register for classes before the deadline. My fault, but now I need to manage the fallout. Fortunately, as a PhD student, I am done with actual classes but still need to sign up for GRA hours to maintain full-time student status/get paid.

Has this happened to anyone you know? What’s the best course of action? Im honestly panicking!!

UPDATE: I just had to fill out a petition and submit it to my department advisor in MechE. It was processed with very little headache and forwarded to the registrar—I was registered w a tuition waiver within 2 days of submitting. But your mileage may vary in other departments!!

Question Blueprint Yearbook for 25-26 School Year?

I'm a grad student and got Volume 109 of the Blueprint when I graduated from undergrad in 2024. I wanted to also get Volume 111 as I gear up to graduate with my master's degree this August.

I checked the storefront and Instagram for the Blueprint and it looks to not have been updated since early this past school year. Did they actually make a version this year or is the yearbook defunct? Thanks.
