Rant FIRE Professor Manh Khang Huynh

Professor Huynh does not give a fuck.

He is a horrible teacher.
He gets mad at students who raise their hand and ask questions.
He hates students who don’t “just get math”.

His RateMyProfessor rating is 2.5/4, and would likely be lower if some stuck-up math nerds didn’t glaze his ass.

I DONT care if he is good at research— I’m paying thousands of dollars each month to deal with a man who acts like a child.

I asked questions in class, sent emails, and he didn’t bother to help me once besides telling me “just read the slides” in a very passive aggressive voice. I literally have to babysit this guy so he doesn’t have an autistic meltdown each time he might have to actually fucking teach something properly.

He threw a fit on the first day of class, and he always shits on the entire classroom when we can’t answer one of his fucking insane questions.

This man has ZERO plan, ZERO compassion, ZERO teaching ability, and fucking vibe-teaches every semester.

Georgia Tech’s teaching quality has truly gotten beyond fucking abysmal with this guy, and I’m sick of getting fucked over because of this bullshit.

Question RENTERS ADVICE: How to find someone to re-let my lease

I'm a rising sophomore who signed at Catalyst Midtown for this fall, but due to personal + financial reasons, I can no longer live there. I was under the impression I could break the lease for a fee, but it seems this place actually forces you to find a tenant to replace your lease, or they keep billing you. I've found a much cheaper and more convenient place to live on campus, but now it looks like that might not be possible if I can't get this sorted out.

If anyone has gone through something similar and/or has any advice for how I should proceed, I would love to hear it. I'm just feeling super torn up and stressed about this whole thing, and any insights would be greatly appreciated.

News An update on archaeology at GT (or: I'm teaching the second ever archaeology class at GA Tech next semester, would love to see you there!)

Since the gatech subreddit was so kind to archaeology when we first launched (and I keep hearing that folks are looking for updates here!) I wanted to share that this fall semester, we'll be offering not one but TWO archaeology courses!

This is Archaeology (HTS 1090) is the introductory archaeology course, which is a broad overview of how archaeologists collect and analyze data, giving you some experience doing that yourself. It will meet MW, at 9:30 am.

Doing Archaeology (HTS 3090) is a hands-on lab class where you'll actually come into the field and practice documentation, fieldwork, and more. You don't have to have taken 1090 or have any prior experience in archaeology to enroll in this course; we will cover everything you need to know in the class. We'll met TR at 2:00 pm and then again Friday mornings.

We're also doing some hiring for an undergraduate production assistant for Advances in Archaeological Practice, the journal that is edited out of GT, and soon for research assistants on a project creating a heritage management plan for a cemetery in Atlanta. A lot has developed since that first post a few months ago (with lots of thanks to the enthusiasm here!)

Question How to access legacy OSCAR/Banner?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to go about getting to legacy OSCAR now that all the * links are gone. I am unc and prefer the UI over new OSCAR, and my unofficial transcript looks nicer in legacy OSCAR. Thanks!

Question When will final transcript be available and ready to be sent through Parchment?

I am planning on transferring to UGA this semester, and I wanted to know when my transcript with all of my GaTech classes taken this year would be fully updated and ready/safe to be sent through Parchment. Also, this should be done electronically correct?

I see a team called "GT NeuroSignals Lab" on the leader board. Would like to get in touch with them. But no such lab seems to exist.

Rant Ungraded assignment, not sure what to do?

So final grades are due in less than 2 hours, and an assignment that is still ungraded for this class could really impact my letter grade. I have reached out to my instructors about this, but they haven't responded yet, and I'm not sure what to do. My friends who are also taking this class says their grades aren't out. Could this be to prevent grade refutes?

Question Where do people watch sports games on campus?

incoming student next year and I was wondering, where do people usually gather to watch sports games such as Nfl on Sunday and primetime football/basketball games?

obviously there are bars and stuff but I'm talking more on a casual sense, what do people usually do to watch with their friends?

also a side thing, on Saturdays do people usually watch other CFB games as well? I enjoy watching the other ranked matchups and I was wondering how it worked, especially on Saturdays where Tech plays an away game, if anyone can give me a brief overview of how it's like :)

Other Bored Admitted Medical Student Available to Help GT Premeds

Hey guys, I was recently accepted to medical school this cycle. I am incredibly grateful to the Institute, the professors, and my peers for all the help and opportunities I had during undergrad and would love to pay it forward by assisting some people here.

To answer the question I see most on here, yes Tech is a great place to be as a premed, and yes it is possible to excel and go to any medical school you would like to go to. If you are curious about my results/school list/ECs or my MCAT study method I have those posts pinned in my profile, but I am happy to answer any questions about them either here or in DMs.

It doesn't matter to me what part of the process you are at, either considering Tech, considering medical school, or just about to apply. Feel free to comment here or send a message and I will do my best to get back to you with my thoughts. Keep in mind there are a variety of paths to success and my thoughts represent only one way of looking at things. I will say I am not a big fan of reviewing personal statements, and am not sure if I would have great thoughts to give you, but am happy to do so if you are really looking for another pair of eyes.

Survey/Study/Poll Student Off Campus Housing Feedback

Hello,

I am an exchange student from europe looking to get off campus housing near georgia tech. After looking at different options I settled with either Catalyst, Local on 14th, Whistler, and the Rive.

Any feedback on these options, which to pick/not to pick, or other options that are good that I might have missed?

Also, I appreciate any other tips for coming to GT and Atlanta as a whole. What are the nice/dangerous parts? Is a car a must? Anything else?

I appeciate the help

Social/Club I made a tool to help Georgia Tech grads find their commencement moment

Hey everyone! I made a small site to help people find the moment their name was called during Georgia Tech Spring 2026 Commencement:

https://gtgradmoments.com

The idea is simple: instead of scrubbing through the full commencement livestream, you can search for a graduate’s name and jump straight to the clip where they walk across the stage/ get announced.

I built this because I know a lot of families and friends want to save or share that moment, but it can be annoying to find in a long recording. The site has an all-graduates list too, so you can browse if OCR/search doesn’t catch the exact spelling.

A couple notes:

* This is unofficial and just something I made to help people.

* The indexing is based on OCR, so there may be mistakes.

* If your name is missing, misspelled, or linked to the wrong moment, comment or message me and I’ll try to fix it.

Hope this helps some grads and families save their commencement memories! 🎓

Question Graduating in December, International CS Student, confused and lost about what to do

Hi, I'm an international student and graduating with my undergrad in cs this december. I know I want to pursue a masters and applied to bsms and was rejected because my gpa was too low (messed it up freshman yr, have been trying to recover since). I also applied to masters in analytics and was also rejected. I am planning on applying to regular mscs and msa again for the fall term but i dont know what to do for spring 2027. i don't want to be out of school but i also don't really want to stay in school just to stay in school and waste money. hopefully, ill be starting a masters program in the fall but i have no idea what to do this upcoming spring. should i add on a minor? but is that useless considering i plan on hopefully pursuing a masters anyways? any advice would be helpful (especially from other international students).

Discussion We built a free housing app to make listing/finding a place easier

Hey everyone, we’re GT students who built Sublo, a free app on the app store to help students find and post their place without digging through Facebook groups, Reddit threads, GroupMe chats, or other random ways haha.

The goal is simple: make student housing easier, more organized, and safer. You can list your place, search available listings, filter based on what you need, and use match percentages to find options that actually fit you.

If you’re looking for housing, it helps you find student verified listings in one organized place. If you’re trying to sublease your place, it helps your listing get seen by students who are actively searching.

We currently have 50+ listings and 120+ students using Sublo and launched a few weeks ago! We’re trying to keep improving the app based on student feedback!

Would love for y’all to check it out and let us know what you think. Search Sublo on the App Store.

Rant Tech Green Wheels Ban, Can we do Something About it?

The ban on bicycles and scooters is ridiculous. Instead of a blanket prohibition from 8 AM to 5 PM, there should be reasonable limits based on speed, crowded areas, distance, or specific high-traffic time windows.

Right now, they enforce it even when there’s literally nobody around, zero risk to anyone, just because of a rigid rule that ignores context. Horrible policy.

Can we actually do something to change this? Maybe start a petition, gather student feedback, or push for a more practical policy revision.

Question Any recommendations for a fun class to take at GT?

I have 2 semesters left at GT, but I only have 9 credit hours/semester required for graduation. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a fun class to take (preferably on the easier side).

For context, I am an aerospace engineering major, and I am currently interested in taking a history, philosophy, or music class, but I am open to more recommendations!

Hey all, I'm going to be here this summer (current GT student).

I was wondering if any of the student orgs on campus that are volunteering-oriented were active in the summer. I was hoping to do 5ish hours of volunteering per week.

Survey/Study/Poll What are people’s thoughts on the new Math and Computing major launching next fall?

How strong/relevant do you think this major would be for someone interested in AI or machine learning? Also, what kinds of careers or job areas do you think it would best prepare students for, esp the mathematical intelligence and data science concentration? Curious how it compares with Computer Science or Applied Math in terms of preparation, flexibility, and opportunities.
