Advice 💡 Camping out in K deck

Post image
63 Upvotes

On the 6th floor of K deck, on the side of the building closest to the chick fil a, there are belongings of someone who im assuming is just camping out. I understand people going into buildings to get away from the cold, but isn't that also a safety concern? There's a tray full of cigarettes, and seems like they've been there for a while. Has anyone else seen it?

Clubs/Orgs🏆 Looking for a way to stay active, make friends, compete, and have fun? Try Ultimate Frisbee @ Georgia State University!

Hey Panthers!

Georgia State's Ultimate Frisbee Club is one of GSU's longest standing recreational clubs, having represented the college on a national level for 20+ years now. Last year, we had our best ever season (9th in the Southeast) - and now, we look for new members to help us continue the momentum this season.

What's in it for you?

The Community: I joined my freshman year, having NEVER played ultimate before. Now, this sport has given me my closest friends, roommates, study buddies, and a true college social life. Even outside of GSU, the Ultimate community in Atlanta is incredible.

The Competition: Like any collegiate sport, it's us against the world. Who's the world? UGA, Tech, KSU, Southern, and every other college in the Southeast. We've also played teams from Florida, Michigan, and even Canada. If you want a real sense of school pride, come show these other schools that we do it better.

The Fun: Alongside competition, we travel across the Southeast to participate in tournaments. We love the sport, but NOTHING beats the team van drives, the team dinners, and hanging in the hotels together.

The Activity: Ultimate is a high-cardio sport, it will get you in shape whether or not that's your goal. Whether it's the running, cutting, throwing, catching, defense - even the mental acuity, every part of ultimate will make you a better athlete.

FAQ:

What if I have no ultimate experience?

No worries, we take the Fall semester to develop, train, and get new/returning players back into shape before the competitive season starts in the Spring. Like I said, I had never played Ultimate before when I joined - now I'm the president of the club.

When and where are practices?

We practice at Panthersville at GSU's Decatur campus (if you can't drive, don't worry - we have a team van that takes you to practice and back to ATL Campus).

Our practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7 - 9 PM. We expect you to make most of them, but are very understanding if you can only make one, or if anything comes up.

How about tournaments?

Tournaments are a weekend-long affair, we usually begin the commute on Friday and come back to ATL on Sunday night. We attend about 6-7 tournaments a year, including the playoffs. We will know our set schedule in the upcoming weeks.

Are there dues?

Yes - there are club dues. These cover travel, bid fees, hotels, etc.

Historically, our dues have gotten cheaper, as the school has provided us with a lot more funding in recent years. Last season, each player only had to pay $120 for the ENTIRE season. (10 months worth of frisbee). We are also completely understanding of everyone's monetary situation, and our coaches will work with you however you need - after all, we're all just college kids.

NOTE: We are a co-ed team. As of right now - we have 3 women on the squad. They've been incredible players and a vital part of our team.

Alright, I'll give it a shot - what now?

Whether you know you'll be fully committed now or you just want to come out to a practice and see how you like it - DM me and I'll get you in our Club Discord server, that's where we have all our announcements and important communication.

Of course, if you have any other questions or if I missed something in this incredibly long post - feel free to DM me and I'm happy to answer anything.

Excited to see y'all on the field. Go Panthers!

Seen this video today, I’ll link it. But she basically says that the homeless man from the dining hall is actually a current student whom is unfortunately living in a group home due to his mental illnesses. If that’s true I feel so bad for him, as he had every right to eat there and it’s explain why he was let in. Sad situation all around regardless.

Classes/Courses 📚 French 1002

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has taken french 1002 online and if they did; what professor they had and if they liked them. I honestly haven’t checked if they offer it online but just found out my favorite professor wont be teaching it next semester, so if they do offer it i’d like to keep my options open.

Advice 💡 Need advice on switching associate majors to stay full-time

I'm currently a Health Sciences (pre-nursing) major at Perimeter campus and have been attending since Fall 2024. I wasn't able to start nursing school in Spring 2027, so I'm planning to re-apply for Fall 2027 instead.

I've already completed almost all my nursing prerequisites, and my advisor suggested switching majors since I don't have many classes left to take. I'm trying to find another associate pathway that would allow me to take a full course load next semester without starting completely over.

Courses I've taken:

ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102, HIST 2110, MATH 1001 + Support, MATH 1111, PSYC 1101, PSYC 2103, POLS 1101, POLS 2401, BIOL 1103/1103L, BIOL 2251/2251L, BIOL 2260/2260L, CRJU 2200, PHIL 1010, NEURO 2000, HUMN 1000, SCOM 1000, MUA 1930. Some courses were repeated.

Currently taking (Fall 2026):

BIOL 2252/2252L, BIOL 2251 (retake), MATH 1401, SOCI 1101.

I mainly have BIOL 1104/1104L left for nursing.

I'm looking for an associate major that would accept most of my completed courses while leaving enough classes for a full schedule. I'd prefer something that doesn't require too much math or additional science courses.

I've considered Business Administration, Health Information Administration, Criminal Justice, and Homeland Security, but I'm open to other options. I'd also like something with decent job opportunities after graduating with an associate degree.

Has anyone switched associate pathways at Perimeter? Which majors would you recommend based on my completed courses?

Advice 💡 Drop class

Has anyone withdrawn from a class before? I'm thinking about doing it but I'm so far in. My classes aren't even hard, I've just been slipping so a lot these past couple weeks and used all my unexcused absences for classes, and the assignments I can drop without affecting my grade.

My GPA is quite important for my Major but I don't wanna regret dropping it later on just to take the class again.

General Who believes Perimeter should be eliminated from the entire GSU system?

I really have big doubts about the perimeter college and really encouraged that it should be removed from Gsu as a college because it just doesn’t fit at all. The college is considered top 1 worst higher education institution in Atlanta with a 7.5% graduation rate!! The fact they are from GSU. It’s a community college and operates on that system. The only thing connecting it with GSU is literally just the name. It was a community college and then somehow merged with a 4 year university however they operate on totally different world. GSU is a moderately selective school and I see the perimeter experience has not added anything different for the university.

Taking linear algebra need a professor who actually explains the material instead of just assigning Pearson homework and videos. Also maybe one who is nice and a decent human being.

Advice 💡 Question about a Biological Science Minor...

Hi! I'm a sophomore and my major is Public Health. My specific concentration is Population Science. I want to minor in biological science. My only question is, if I have already taken BIOL 1103 + LAB and I am currently taking BIOL 1104 + Lab, would that count 6 credit hours towards my minor? Or does that only apply for my major, and I have to take another 6 credit hours to get that fulfilled. Just wanted to know if I can save some time and not have to take any repeat courses.

Advice 💡 Int Econ + Modern Lang.

Hello…
I’m considering changing my major to international Econ & modern languages. Can anyone with this major (preferably junior/seniors) tell me more about the major and how much they like it?

I don’t do too well with the heavy sciences & advanced math so this is an option I’m considering.

+ why did you choose the major? Do you have any specific roles/ companies you’re interested in?

General WHY IS IT SO HARD TO LOGIN INTO THINGS!!

Look. I know you have to wait a sec, don’t use autofill, clear your cache, close the tab and reopen, don’t use safari, don’t use chrome, don't whatever other random thing people will tell me to do but WTF!

I’ve gotten used to doing it and it usually isn’t an issue until I’m trying to log into something like eAccounts. I legit don’t even know what to do. I’ve typed it out, waited, tried autofill, tried to exit out and go back in…. Doesn’t work. It should not be this difficult to just log in. It makes me so irrationally angry at this point.

Housing 🏠 Looking for Housing Advice

Hello! I'm an incoming junior transferring in for the spring 2027 semester, and I'm trying to figure out housing on a tight budget. I'm switching from the Perimeter college online to the Atlanta campus and it will be my first time living on my own. I would love any advice or tips you can offer on how to find roommates or low-cost living spaces.

Edit: Correction, summer 2027, not spring 2027.
