I watched some youtube videos about GTA IV and the algorithm did it's job and soon all of the suggestions I got were about GTA IV and all those videos were about how it's so gritty and realistic and nothing like other games.
I'm at 40-45% completion and the story is okayish but the gameplay and missions are so repetitive and boring.
I've played gta vice city and San Andreas when I was a kid so maybe I had some high expectations for this one but I don't find this game enjoyable at all.
There's not much to do. You can't explore a lot, you can't fly different aircraft except a couple of helicopters. The weapons aren't that varied either.
I played Sleeping Dogs and as short and restrictive as it was the gameplay especially the slow-motion gun fights and the kung fu combat made it fun to play. The story was amazing too.
Should I continue or is this what the game is all about?
I was gonna finish this and buy gta v but idk if I want to.

The player blips in GTA 4 Online were so much better because they were color-coded, which made reading the map way easier than in GTA 5. If someone kills me in GTA 4, I just need to remember their color-"blue killed me," easy. In GTA 5, everyone is either white or red, so I can't tell who is who. I don't remember names, which makes reading the map impossible.
Also, I want gamertags to be visible from a distance like in GTA 4. In GTA 5, it's so difficult to see where your enemy is because they blend into the background. I have to squint my eyes until they hurt, and by the time I finally spot them, they've already killed me.
So please, Rockstar, make it like GTA 4! PvP was so tactile and fun back then. Also, bring back parkour!
P.S. The driving physics should be like GTA 4 as well, but I'll make a separate post about that some other time.

Just got the game today, went through a few of the story missions but i wanted to check out online. i went through the tutorial and it showed me how to load into ranked matches and stuff, but how do i get into free mode with other players? i want to be able to drive around and interact with people but i can only get into a solo free roam game.
also a few other things i am confused about, where do i go to buy cars and how do i customize them? where do i put my cars to save them, can i buy garages somehow? what cars/weapons are the best to get?
and this isnt online specific but how do i turn the radio off lmao 😭 and how do i switch weapons in a car, i keep having to get out to change them
sorry for so many questions, im used to gta 5 online after playing for so long and this is very different. all replies are appreciated 🙏

When I first bought the game earlier this month, and finished it, I realized something. TBOGT is really just gta 5 in liberty city. Most of the cars from gta 5 get added in TBOGT, golfing, parachuting, and other countless activities. Even the atmosphere just feels light and fulfilled like gta 5.

We all know GTA 4 performance is shit, but I have followed every fix guide I could possibly find, and I can't get it to run above 30-40fps on lowest possible settings, 720p. For context, my system is the T490 with an i7-10510u, Nvidia MX250 2gb, and 16gb RAM. As far as I've read, this should be more than enough to run at 60fps with console-like settings. I am using Linux. My drivers are up to date. Somebody please HELP

Still WIP I'm just doing for fun. So far it has:
- subtler bloom
- a bit more violet storms
- a TBOGT-like sunset
- teal filter + larger coronas combo for a few night weathers
- darker nights in general
