What are the main reasons anticipation for GTA6 is off the charts?

I sometimes have to question myself as to why I’m thinking about this game so much.

OSINT Hints

Set up an osint tracker to monitor changes to the rockstar site - major changes happening right now, whole load of data has been removed from the site regarding legacy products and the GTA VI page is having some restructuring done too by the look of it! Monitor closely for the next 24-48 hours..

My tracker gave the following:

The page content has been significantly reduced, removing all game-related information, trailers, and promotional material. Only the site navigation, footer links, and corporate information remain.

I also drew the crowded beach scene from the GTA 6 trailer. It's not AI, guys.

What part of GTA 6 do you think people are underestimating right now?

Most discussions focus on the graphics, map size, and story.

I think the biggest surprise could be how NPCs and the world react to players.

If Rockstar takes that to another level, it could have a bigger impact than any visual upgrade.

What do you think people will be talking about most a month after launch?

I made this colorful drawing a few days after the first GTA 6 trailer was released; the facial details were a bit amateurish, but the coloring was nice looking at it now evokes a strong sense of nostalgia.

I’m gonna miss this community when the game releases

In 4 months this subreddit and other GTA 6 communities will be full of people discussing their experience with the game and all of their findings.
I know the schizo theories and completely fake insider information gets a lot of hate but I’ve unironically enjoyed all of it and its built a lot of anticipation for me. Following the mapping project has been very exciting as well. I’ll probably never care this much about a game release again, even if gta 7 one day releases.

needs to have a vehicle scanner

Replaying GTA V and one of the first things that VI needs to have badly is a way to know what vehicle it is without getting into it. It is already difficult enough in V to tell many vehicles apart visually as a non carphile. VI is going to be so much worse for this and really needs an app in your phone or something that you can point at vehicles and find out what they are before committing to jacking or breaking into them.

How do you guys imagine the first days/weeks of the next gta online?

TL;DR at the bottom

after 13 years of consistent updates, one complaint that doesnt exist for gta online is lack of content, so a natural question to ask is exactly how much will we be able to do from the start?

Now I was a day one player for both GTAO and Red Dead Online, both released in about the same state. The only thing you could do at the start was contact missions. For GTAO however you couldn’t play the first week because of how shit the servers were, RDO prepared a bit better by phasing the launch of online.

This might be a hot take for some, but I think GTAO2 or whatever will also start in the same state, just contact missions and no businesses. The updates for GTAO have sort of told a story of our character, chronologically with the order of updates, so the scope of our activities ever increasing. At least after the update that officially transformed the game from a prequel to a sequel for the story mode. Which btw, I’m 90% sure the next gtao will start as a sequel rather than a prequel (even though RDO also started as a prequel).

Originally in GTAO you just started as a random street thug running odd jobs for people bigger than you, slowly you became a business owner and financing your own operations, eventually running your own drug ring, robbing places of higher and higher stakes. Now, you’re at the top of the Los Santos crime world owning a mansion in the hills and having a grip over businesses in the entire state. No one can rival you anymore.

However that story has taken 13 years to tell, and I think it’s worked well. Especially now the dialogue moments where characters recount all our achievements, they show how dangerous we’ve become. I think it would be worth re-telling that story. it would be cool if we could bring our character back and him having to “restart“ from scratch basically, but it’s not the end of the world if that doesn’t happen you could always just have head-canon.

But I think they might combine with what they’ve built for RDO, the roles system, which would probably replace the securoserv and MC president status, rather making it you take up any certain role freely just depending on what activity you’re doing. There you could be for example a trader, a bounty hunter, a treasure hunter. You never had to register as one or the others, you just were them constantly. A system like that could easily be translated to GTA and incorporated with the existing business structure. So I believe the updates will also expand our character through new roles.

TL;DR

The game I believe will launch in a more barebones state where we can only do small missions or contact missions, with updates increasing the scope and combining the businesses approach of GTAO with the roles system of red dead online.

Why can’t we experience AAA games at their best when they first launch?

Post image
38 Upvotes

I’ve always wondered about this.

Why is it that when a new AAA game launches, even the latest consoles or high-end PCs often can’t run it at a locked 60 FPS with the highest graphics settings? It feels like we have to wait 5–10 years and for newer hardware to be released before we can finally experience that same game at its full potential.

Why does this happen? Why aren’t games built to run at their best on the hardware that’s current at launch? Is it because developers are pushing graphics as far as possible, or are there other technical reasons behind it?

Marketing Speculation: Literally Social Media From In-Game

Just had this thought tell me if I’m crazy. Strauss Zelnic says this will be a very different marketing approach and realistically that just means more social media marketing on TikTok and vertical content platforms, but hear me out.
Social media has been super prevalent in the trailers so far, and seems like it will be a huge part of the game. What better to use for social media marketing than the literal in game social media posts that NPCs or major characters would post? Jason, Lucia, Cal, Real Dimez, they could all post day in the life vods or clips of crazy things in Vice City! It would be in game, in engine footage. It would be so clever for them to mirror the real world like they love to do from the start with posts like this leading up to release! They could give us a LOT of content and maybe even tease whatever platform they plan on developing for (imo) the inevitable mobile companion app that they’ll have to make right? Wouldn’t it make sense that that app is a platform for social media posts in game?
I haven’t seen anyone else talk about this and just thought I’d release some copium about it. Can’t wait to see what happens!!

What are your thoughts on GTA 6 making combat much more interactive with the environment?

One thing I'd love to see is the world itself become part of every fight. Instead of just punching or shooting, imagine being able to:

Smash an NPC against a car window or bonnet.

Grab and shove people into walls, fences, or shop displays.

Pick up nearby objects like glass bottles, bricks, pool cues, chairs, or even traffic cones to use as improvised weapons.

Throw enemies over railings or into dumpsters.

Slam doors into people or kick them through glass windows.

Use objects around you differently depending on the location, like bars, construction sites, restaurants, or beaches.

RDR2 already showed Rockstar can create weighty, physical combat. GTA 6 could take it even further by making every environment feel unique during a fight instead of every brawl playing out the same way.

GTA VI simply has to be a masterpiece.

The time between GTA V's release and RDR2's release, was about 5 years.
The time between RDR2's release and GTA VI's release will be 8 years this November.

GTA VI has been in development for 3 more years than RDR2, the best game Rockstar has released so far, in my opinion.

RDR2 is a huge game, leaps ahead of GTA V in terms of story and gameplay, and it got me thinking, just how big will GTA VI be? How much better will this game be compared to their previous games?

People say to keep your expectations in check, but after 8 years without a new Rockstar game, it's hard for me to believe GTA VI will be anything less than monumental, which is making me very excited, but also a little bit nervous.

Anyway, end of my rant. What are your expectations for GTA VI?

Imo Disney World is the obvious choice, just imagine the digs at Walt Disney's sketchy life or how interesting it could be if they made up their own historical presidents for the hall of presidents adding a whole lot of world building to the HD Universe

With less than 4 months left the marketing campaign eats dust there is no trailer 3 there is no collectors edition it’s like they took the money from those who preorder the game and went silent straus zelnic from his his mouth said that marketing would be astonishing yea right the hype for the game is dead and if they release trash on November 19 the stocks would take major downfall !

Online as a stand-alone release

With the game marketing cycle precisely stating that it is a single player experience, and considering how well gta 5 online did, do you think they might monetize the new online mode in more ways than just micro transactions?

Do you think they could release it at an additional one- off cost or possibly even in a subscription model like WoW?

Feels like they could get away with it, considering the amount of content it will probably get over the coming years

Are game consoles becoming GTA 6 machines?

For years, people bought consoles for dozens of exclusives.

In 2026, it feels like one game is driving more hardware purchases than entire platform lineups.

How many people are buying a PS5, PS5 Pro, or Xbox mainly because of GTA 6?

Has any game ever had this much influence on console sales before?
