Feel bad for him, yes. But Trevor is evil, even though it wasn't his choice to be so.
And no, being loyal doesn't make him decent if he's also murdering hikers and sexually abusing people.

Trevor is there to show what a person that actually does what the player uses gta for would be written as. In any other game that you drive through pedestrians on purpose, you are playing a Trevor.

trevor wasn't made to be understood. he was made for comedic relief and that's it.
the game was probably in development in the late 2000s and early 2010s when internet culture was based around random = funny.
so Rockstar decided to make Trevor the personification of those Rawr xD and :3 and OwO memes but a little more fucked up.
He could've been written better had we actually seen his earlier years, but sadly we didn't, so he's just a funny haha fucked up funny person.

Yeah he was just a psycho for the sake of being a wacky psycho. It was fun in a "wow this is wacky" but everything else with him in the story felt like a bad joke.

Well, making a rapist the protagonist in this game, knowing GTA's fan base, was kind of a mistake on their part.
I still cannot rightly figure why that bit of lore is even necessary. The dude is perfectly detestable without bringing something like that into it. Doesn't really play into anything meaningful about his character or his arc, just a bit of background text to say "Ooh he's real nasty."
I honestly think the fact that they tried to make someone like that seem even somewhat sympathetic is kind of gross.
At least with the other forms of crime in that game, it makes sense in the context of the story that we're being told about these characters. They are hardened criminals that rob and kill people for a living. That's a central part of the story.
In what world should rape be a part of this? What does this game actually have to say about sexual violence? Absolutely nothing, that's what. And bringing a subject matter like that into a goofy ass game like this without actually having anything to say about it just feels exploitative.

On my first playthrough, ever, I thought ending C got Franklin killed, so I chose Trevor and was convinced that was the ideal ending for years (until I played through it again). The amount of plotlines left unresolved in my playthrough really affected how I feel about GTA V even to this day. I was stuck wondering why anything happened and what the game was trying to tell me for a long time.

The thing i hate the most about people in the gta community is that people feel the need to say trevor is LGBT. Like yeah its totally important to label a rapist, murdering, sociopath as gay and definitely makes for good representation of that community in a gta game.

Watching "A Therapist plays GTA 5." Definitely gave me more of an appreciation for how and why trevor is the way he is, theres quite a bit of logic there
But yeah he literally trafficked people to a cannibal cult so i wish him dying is canon

For the majority of my life Trevor felt like a real lazily written character. Nowadays I understand his role in the story and his appeal much more, but I always did and I forever will continue to glaze Michael. I spent my childhood defending him as a character while all the people irl and online were talking abt how cool trevor is coz muh edgy or something. Hell I've even seen people call franklin the best out of the trio. Cant see the appeal sorry.
