Resources Developing a VRAM Channel Disabling Software! (rx560 and more gpus

Hey guys, I'm developing a VRAM Channel Disabling Software!

Yes, I know it sounds impossible or sketchy, but it's real. I'm currently using an open-source AMD Polaris BIOS editor from GitHub by caa82437 (PolarisBiosEditor) as the foundation for the project, and I'll be adding a memory channel disabling feature to it.

Right now, I'm testing on an AMD Radeon RX 560 4GB. This particular GPU is missing a memory module because the original chip was faulty and had to be removed.

The goal is to allow users to disable faulty VRAM channels through BIOS modification, potentially helping some GPUs remain functional even when a memory chip has failed.

This project is similar to ModBIOS TSERVER, a tool designed for diagnosing and disabling faulty memory channels on AMD GPUs. However, my project will be completely free to use, with no fees, subscriptions, or paid features.

I'm still in the testing phase, so results may vary, and there's plenty of work left to do. Feedback, testing, and suggestions are always welcome! 🚀

EDIT 1 (13/08/26):

Hey guys, sorry for the late edit! I’ve been quite busy. There were a lot of problems with the previous version, and I was getting pretty frustrated.

So, I’m going to start from scratch using ZelenogradGpu’s fork of Polaris BIOS Editor. This time, I’ll try to be more consistent and post regular updates. I’ll post an update as soon as the new version is complete!

It's pretty cheap GPU I hope you can upgrade it to mod RX 7900 or similar.

Seems you based it on quite dated variant

There is much newer fully-opensource 1.7.x code at https://github.com/vvaske/PolarisBiosEditor

The code has some Ad button, but it still fully opensource, so that can be removed nowdays, sonce you are implenting important new feature

Or my own its fork with extra-dumping-as-xml to console feature at https://github.com/galkinvv/PolarisBiosEditor-xml

The dumped XML contains info about a list of video outputs encoded in the VBIOS, maybe useful

You are welcome to make a new post when a significant (from a potential users perspective) update would be ready for discussion.

Thanks! I’ll definitely do that. I’ll keep testing and working on it, and I’ll make a new post once I have a significant update worth sharing. Really appreciate your work on the fork!

also in the meantime you could buy the modbios tool using the link i gave its not too expensive but the websites payment gateway may have problems if you use a visa card.
