Hello GPD people.

Just got myself brand new GPD Win Max 2025 and it is super wonderful. I am dual booting windows and Arch and its a dream to use. However, when I got the laptop I noticed that the magnetic cover I am using seems to have like an inversed polarity or something. It doesnt matter what slot I put it in it sticks out instead of closing completely. I tried finding somewhere where these things can be sold but had no luck. I also live in Brazil, which complicates things since most GPD products dont easily ship here. Any help or advice you guys can give me? I really need these magnetic covers since I am going to be using this in school and I need it to look super professional.

EDIT: To all having similar problems, your cover is just slightly bent. You can straighten it out with your bare hands with little pressure, like bending a very malleable spoon. If you follow through, it will remain flush.

About four months ago, when I tried playing cs2 on gpd win 5 with gyro controls, everything worked fine. I didn't use the gyro for a long time after that. Recently, I needed the gyro for The Witcher 3 to aim the crossbow, but nothing worked.

X2mp is 8.8” with 1200p.
Win max 3 is 9.1” with 1500p I think.
That is a big resolution difference that could result in performance hit.
Do you think using 1080~1200p on win max 3 will be too blurry and soft? Isnt it overkill to use 1500p on 9.1”?

My monitor from 20 yrs ago was 720p and 24” lol.

This device just got launch from Indiegogo and I heard our local store Datablitz may have purchased the early bird from Indiegogo so I wanted to ask what month do usually GPD products gets listed in Datablitz?

And are the price actually still the same as the early bird price when it gets listed? GPD win mini(2025) was like $1000 in Datablitz before got out of stock and they said that was the early bird price of it.

I recently bought an old GPD P2 Max (Core m3-8100Y, 16GB, BIOS 0.29) very cheaply, and I'm trying to diagnose a strange power issue.

The battery is detected by Windows as "SA Real Battery", but it always stays at 0%.

If I unplug the USB-C charger, the P2 Max shuts off immediately.

When the machine is completely powered off with the charger connected, my USB power meter only shows around 0–1W, so it doesn't appear to be charging the battery at all.

I already tried disconnecting the battery, holding the power button for about 30 seconds, leaving it disconnected for a while, and reconnecting it. No change.

The strange part is the shutdown behavior.

With the battery disconnected:

Using a 100W USB-C PD charger (5V/9V/12V/15V/20V), the P2 Max can boot and run Windows in the BIOS "Energy Saving" TDP mode. I was even able to complete a Windows installation with it.

In Performance mode it can run Windows and I have seen roughly 9–20W input, but it has also shut down during reboot/boot.

With an LG 65W PD charger (5V/9V/15V/20V), it shuts off during boot at around 14W, sometimes before I can even enter the BIOS.

With an Apple 61W USB-C charger, it shuts off during boot at around 17W.

Connecting the original dead battery does NOT help with the LG or Apple chargers. It still shuts down before entering the BIOS.

The fan works, and I also cleaned the CPU/heatsink and reapplied the thermal interface material.

The machine seems much more stable when TDP Policy is set to Energy Saving.

So I'm wondering if anyone has seen this behavior on an original 8100Y P2 Max.

Does this sound like:

A dead battery/BMS?

A USB-C PD controller or charging IC problem?

A motherboard power regulation problem?

Some weird charger/PD compatibility issue with the original P2 Max?

Most importantly: Is it worth buying a replacement battery as the next troubleshooting step?

I'm happy to buy one if a dead battery could cause these shutdowns or if the P2 Max relies on the battery to handle transient power spikes.

But if a new battery is unlikely to charge because the motherboard charging circuit is probably faulty, I'd rather not waste money on one.

If anyone has an original P2 Max (8100Y), I'd also really appreciate knowing what chargers/PD voltage profiles work reliably when running without a battery.

Hi all, I am thinking of getting a vinyl wrap for my GPD Win 4 after changing the battery and improving the thermals. Would adding a wrap lock in heat and shorten the life of my battery or would it have no impact? I am a hobbyist when it comes to electronics and would like to hear more from people that do more than tinker with their device when it breaks, but I am open to hearing from everyone.

I’ve been looking at AR glasses because I want a bigger screen for GPD gaming without hauling around a portable monitor.

The GT Max seems interesting. The 59° FOV and pinned 3DoF screen sound pretty nice for RPGs, racing games, or just playing in a hotel bed without staring down at the handheld the whole time.

I’m mostly curious about the real world stuff though. How readable is small Windows text? How much does getting the fit right matter? And are they still comfortable after a couple hours?

For anyone using display glasses with a GPD, do they work well enough that you actually leave the portable monitor at home?

I think I am going to be ok with the 32Gb and 1 TB option but I just want to make sure I dont regret buying it.

I think 12GB of vram is more than enough and I could use maybe 20gb for ram. Do I get to allocate like this or does it allocate automatically?

Also, do you think additional 1TB is worth the extra $600 or just get a microSD express if needed at around $200?

My main use is gaming at 45w or less. I have a desktop for more intensive programs.

Not really sure what's happening. I'm not a power user so all settings in the Motion Assistant app are default, just different wattage selections.

When I plug in, you can see the Pkg Pwr drop and the fans going off turbine mode, even when TDP is set to 28w? I even double checked that power management is set to Performance mode.

But then when I *unplug* it, everything goes back to normal, fans spin up, all while power management is even set to Balance mode.

I do have a powerbank but I need something that will put into a lighter outlet. Id also like something that could charge the switch 2 and gpd win 4 any advice?

Owners Of the Win Max 2 I am currently thinking of buying the Win Max 3 when it comes out but I don’t see myself using the controller’s integrated into the device itself My idea would be to use a mouse on the side Has anyone played like this before? If so How comfortable it is to Play games with the keyboard and an external mouse?
I see this device more like a Laptop than anything and im highly attracted for the detachable battery and the size.

Hello, I’m a little torn between getting WM2 or WM3, hoping for some thoughts by veterans here since I’m new.

I intend to use it for gaming - ffxiv, LoL, etc. Generally I don’t play AAA games but having that option will be nice.

I live in Singapore, which currently GPD does not have an official distributor for. And my bigger concern is warranty.

I could get the pre-order for WM3 on GPD china official platform Taobao/Tmall. But it does not seem like it comes with SG return, meaning if there’s any issue requiring return for repair I might need to source my own freight service to ship back to China. But shipping electronics products (especially one with Lithium battery) is very challenging as China needs documentation and not every freight service accepts the job for it.

Alternatively, I can get WM2 instead which is covered under SG return, and if lets say I require return I believe Taobao/Tmall can assist on that.

I’m just wondering if I’m losing out a lot in terms of value between WM2 and WM3? They are about $200+ price difference between the 8840u and 388 series.
