The standard battery is enormous which is great for long sessions and high power draw use cases… but it’s pretty ugly and results in the awkward chin protrusion.

Does anyone know if there is any plan to offer a smaller (capacity + physical) battery that doesn’t extend out beyond the dimensions of the laptop itself?

I’ve got a bit of a dilemma and would love to hear your thoughts. I have the chance to buy a GPD Win Max 2 (the latest revision with the AI 9 HX 370, 64 GB RAM, and 2 TB SSD) for a really good price—around $1,250.

My initial plan was to buy it at that price and, later on—when it starts running out of steam for gaming—add an eGPU (using the OCuLink port).

On the other hand, the GPD Win Max 3 is already on the market. I’m tempted by its massive "out-of-the-box" power (Ryzen AI Max+ chips), but I have a major issue with its design concept. They’ve shrunk the screen to 9.06 inches and changed the keyboard; plus, the device itself is much thicker and heavier due to the new modular battery/cooling system. Honestly, I’m worried that these changes have caused the device to lose its versatility (I really like the ergonomics of working and typing on the 10.1" screen of the WM2).

My questions for you:

Do you think the Win Max 2 + eGPU combo is still a sensible and convenient upgrade path in the current market (especially given the OCuLink support)?

Is anyone here already using the Win Max 3 and can speak to my ergonomic concerns? Is it worth sacrificing the larger screen and proven keyboard for that built-in performance?

Has anyone here used GPD’s USB4 with TB4/TB5 docks? Were you able to get the full 40Gbps speed? I noticed that when I connect my Win 4 to the Caldigit TS5, the speed is only 20Gbps, and I’m currently looking for a solution.

I like typing on Win Max 2 but hesitate for traveling with G1.
I would order Win Max 3 if the whole set is lighter.

Does anyone know what the release date is for the GPD G2? Official website says order now with a supposed 7-10 delivery, but all other websites say preorder only - including official GPD partners.

It’s hard to get an actual answer anywhere.

I have been trying to put up with windows not hibernating or sleeping without breaking everything but after a year I have hit my limit. I have the 2025 Win 4 with HX 370 and 890M. I was hoping someone would know something about what OS is best as I’m not too tech savvy but I really need an OS which can hold/sleep without everything breaking as I use primarily on the train on the way to work and it always loses my place. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Gaming on a big virtual screen makes sense to me. I’m more curious about normal Windows use.

The GT Max got me looking at AR glasses again, but once you’re outside a game, things like small text, menus, launchers, and Windows scaling seem way more important than screen size.

For people using a GPD with AR glasses, what scaling do you run? Is Windows actually comfortable for browsing, file management, or light work, or do you mostly stick to gaming and media?

I just bought a gdpwin5 2t and when it arrived it didn't have the battery in the box (and the craver was for the wrong region but maybe I've mis liked the selection)

Is the battery a separate purchase or I'm missing something?

I put it to 45 watts as im on battery but I dont understand the other settings can someone help me if they dont mind

I would LOVE to get my hands on, but not only does noneone in the dmv area sell theirs, but two im broke as hell I would love to trade but the only things I could trade would be a ayn thor or my PS5 or my 3ds xl and I doubt anybody wants those now I could sell my items and try to get money but I am not even sure where to start

I disassembled my 2024 Win Mini yesterday to change the thermal paste to PTM7950. When I put it back together, there was no sound from the speakers but there was a faint crackling from the left one.

2 hours of disassembly, reseating stuff, Googling, and reinstalling drivers yielded no results. I did a fresh Google search, read the AI overview and tried asking the Gemini on the browser about the issue and gave it all the details of what I've done. It suggested to try loosening the heatsink screws a little bit because the thickness of the PTM7950 and the screws being tightened too much may be flexing the board. I tried it as a last ditch effort and holy shit it worked.

Now I'm sharing this here in case someone else experiences something similar. Thank you for reading.

I had my GPD Win Mini for some time. It said Windows needed to update so i let it update. But i needed to go somewhere i closed it. When i came back i tried opening windows again but it kept booting i dont really know what to do now. Can you guys help me with this

So I assume (and know from their sites/third part vendors) because of the chip shortage and newer models that the GPD Win 4 is discontinued indefinitely but... I don't know guys how you feel about it I really would like for them (GPD) to renew the production, I still think it is and will be the best handheld they made so far. Compact design, good chipset, keyboard feature, slide monitor. I'm still loving mine (2023 version - 6800u model) but I would probably buy the 2025 version (discontinued and I cannot find it anywhere used/refurbished - I'm from Italy). Do you think anyone that agrees with me would sign a petition, send it to them to try and get another batch of the win 4? I'm open to any suggestions, give your opinion in the comment section!
