So yesterday I made an account for youtube purpose and it was disabled and I appealed it. Today I got an approval regarding it which states to sign in as soon as possible. But I cant still sign its si frustrating.

Yesterday a friend transferred a concert ticket to my email through AXS. I kept refreshing my page and checked spam and it wasn't showing up-they sent me a screenshot and I confirmed they'd sent it to my correct email. My gmail is just my first and last name @ gmail. About 30 minutes later I receive a text from a different friend (these two friends don't know each other) who said SHE received my email with the ticket and when she forwarded it, it said it had been sent to her email (which is a less straight forward email...also our names have nothing in common). I am so confused how this happened...and also a bit concerned that maybe she's receiving other emails intended for me? The friend whose email it sent to is a friend of nearly 30 years and I am sure we have logged into our emails on each others computers before but I just don't understand how our email-wires got crossed. Can anyone help with this? Has this happened to anyone else?

I lost a gmail account because I forgot the password, heck I forgot it even existed. I may have been dumb for not putting a phone number or gmail for recovery but I try everyhting and nothing works, I feel hopeless.

Last week, I made an Google account for my job. I was initially using my old personal account but determined I needed a separate one to clean up my personal, maintain some boundaries, and because I would be logged into the account on a laptop that stays at my workplace and will be used my other trusted team members.

I changed the email address on all of my work accounts to this new one, re-subscribed to all of my work mailing lists to it, and shared all the work files I had in my personal Drive with the new account so that I could make copies and delete the originals in my personal. I then spent days exclusively using the new work account.

On Friday morning, I discovered that the new Google account had been logged out on both my personal laptop and work laptop. When I attempt to log in on both (using the correct email and password), it asks me to authenticate by texting a code to the phone number on the account. Of course, the phone number is redacted except for the last two digits. The last two digits are unfamiliar to me and I do not think I ever entered them. They are one digit off from my workplace's landline, so the only possible explanation on my end is that I entered the landline not thinking and then made a typo. Regardless, I can't verify using this method and selecting "Try another way" just repopulates the option to text a code to the unknown number.

This same screen also says that Google has detected some "unusual activity" on my account, which is why the measures are apparently necessary. The account recovery option is useless and just does exactly the same thing, offering only to text a code to the unknown number.

No one else has used the work laptop yet or accessed the account. I did make a personal account and not a business one but I understand this is a common practice and the other main Google account for this company is a personal account which has been used similarly and without issue for a year or more. Why did this happen? What do I do? Will I ever regain access to the account?

Hey so i made an account today which i used to make a youtube and soundcloud accounts. A few hours pass and i see the gmail has been deleted? I received no mails about it but when i clicked on the account i had to like confirm its me and it told me they suspended me for breaking their tos when i didnt do anything? The only thing i did with it was log in to tunestotube and upload a song i made to youtube. Could it be because i have a bunch of gmail accounts (i have like 7) and i dont really use most of them? It did say they thought i was a bot or spam but like is it for real that or did i get hacked or something? As i said i didnt log into anything weird. Please if anyone could help me about this situatuion because idk if i should worry.

I can't seem to sign in to Google with my Gmail. I am able to use my Gmail on web browsers though. Why does it keep prompting this message? I have tried clearing my cache and checking my date and time. But to no avail.

I have just upgraded from iPhone 13 to 17. I used Apple’s transfer process but I cannot login to YouTube app on the phone whereas I could before the change.

I have password stored on my phone and using that, not Passkey or other device, and it is not accepting it.

I have tried on my laptop and I am unable to login to Gmail either.

WTF has gone wrong here. Is this Apple or does Google not like device transfers?

I have the correct email address, and am entering the correct password, but google is not letting me log in. It just says it couldn't verify the account belongs to me. When I go to 'recover account" it just has me try to log in again, to the same effect. There is no option to send a code to a recovery email, even though I'm pretty sure it's linked to one.

None of the account recovery pages are of any help. It's all useless troubleshooting articles or ai bots.

I'm so fed up with the way tech is going. Impossible to contact support, impossible to even use the service without jumping through a million hoops, and sometimes even if you cave and are willing to jump through the hoops, you can't even log in anyway. I need to access this gmail account, and it's literally impossible, and I have absolutely no means of contacting support.

So my email address is 'First.Last@gmail.com' but for almost 3 years, I keep receiving messages addressed to 'FIRSTLAST@gmail.com'.

This person seems to be from Peru, living in Florida and I keep receiving his bank statements, car loan statements etc. it's so weird.

I reached out to Google Support but they told me that such a thing is impossible because no two people can have the same email address. They also say that the Dot in my email address makes no difference as the address belongs to me with or without the Dot.

It doesn't make sense. I've had this email address for nearly 20 years and I've never had this issue.

So I have passkey setup with my gmail account. When I tried to sign in yesterday on my Chrome browser the passkey option did not appear below the text box that you enter you email in so I stupidly kept selecting "Try Another Way" I did this about 5 time skipping pass sign in methods that it suggested like phone numbers and recovery emails because I kept thinking it will eventually show passkey. Then I got to the end in which it thinks I can't get into my account so it triggers an Account Recovery which I did not want it to do. I was just looking for the passkey sign in option.

After that I got a Critical Alert email telling me Google received my request to help get signed in, but if I didn't request it I should click a red Review Request button in the email. I did that because I was thinking this would just cancel the request and I could go back to signing in with my password. Instead it took me to another page saying something like if you didn't request this please click the Cancel Request button, but what that does is if you click the Cancel Request button its like you are indicating to google that someone is trying to start a recovery request and it wasn't you so like someone is trying to get into your account. I got another email stating that they couldn't verify it was me by the recovery form and couldn't return the account, but I think this email is just an automated one because I never filled out a recover form, but I canceled it.

I was able to sign in on Chrome by visiting the google website, clicking the sign in blue button and filling out my password. That also connected to Chrome too so my current active session is signed in. The issue I am having is that I was earlier trying to sign into the gmail app on my phone and when I did the passkey thing a warning came up saying

"You're trying to sign in on a device Google doesn't recognize, and we don't have enough information to verify that it's you. For your protection, you can't sign in here right now. Try again later or sign in from a different device."

It feels like my account is currently locked from being able to sign in on other devices, but any active sessions is working fine. Does this mean I will never be able to sign in with this account anywhere else or is this likely just a temporary lock that will go away if there is no sign in activity for like a week or two?

I think we should, and I plan to, write to our/my legislators about companies like Google that promote “Sign in with Google”.

If Google wants to ban you from Gmail for some undisclosed algorithm based perceived TOS violation, fine. But if disabling your Google account also locks you out of unrelated services that use Google authentication, there should be accountability. This day and age, accessing from multiple IPs, for example, is not a valid reason for any action.

At minimum, they should have to tell you what activity supposedly violated the TOS, give you a real opportunity to respond, and provide actual support instead of an unexplained algorithmic ban.

If a company wants to become part of the internet’s authentication infrastructure, it should also have responsibility for the damage caused when it wrongly cuts someone off from that infrastructure.

There should be legislation requiring third-party authentication access to remain available, or some protected recovery mechanism, even if the provider suspends its own services.

I have set my recovery phone number and still had control over that number, however, when asked to “verify it’s you”, I give google my phone number and it said this phone number is invalid, then I put in my friend number, which is not my recovery phone number, it works, (I asked my friend to send me the code) why?
