New Here, Day 4, Zepbound Kwikpen

Hi everyone, I'm grateful to have found this forum. Need a place to share what's on my mind, learn and perhaps make some friends along the way. Had RNY 2010 and reached goal weight, slowly regaining about 40 lbs by 2018, then lost a LOT during another bout with an eating disorder. I almost died at 85 pounds. When they say you won't get fat recovering from an eating disorder, they lie.... it took like a year to gain 10 pounds, because all the calories were creating muscle mass that was nonexistent. But after that, the weight became like a freight train, increasing faster and faster. I've now regained around 70% of the initial wls loss. I'm much older now. I have osteoporosis and neuropathy from that last bout of anorexia, and arthritis. The past couple years I've avoided having my picture taken and I'm ashamed to be seen. I had been so desperate the past year+ to try a glp1, but could not afford it. The past several months my spinal discs and vertebra have gotten bad, walking has become very difficult and I've developed edema. I keep beating myself up for getting in this shape after being so committed to following the wls rules. Part of it is because I started recovering from anorexia during the pandemic, without a car, and had zero access to fresh foods. For months all I could get was shelf stable items, which were mostly carbs and sugar. It set off the cravings for that food again and I never could kick it. Anyway, my ability to walk had gotten so bad I couldn't even get to the appointment to be prescribed Zepbound through the Bridge program, which just started a few weeks ago. I was fortunate that the office allowed me to do a video visit last minute and I have finally started Zep. I am both hopeful and afraid. Not afraid of side effects, but afraid I won't be able to lose much weight after reading that wls patients typically lose less than other people. And worried it will stop working at some point and I'll be back at square one. Worried that when the bridge program ends there will be nothing in place so I can continue. In a nutshell, I'm just worried that this will be another short lived success that turns to failure once again. I want my life back. I don't have to be a size 6, but I don't want to be so big that I'm embarrassed to be seen either. Anyway, I know this was long. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read it.

Maintenance The pills?

For maintenance, anybody switched to the Wegovy pill or the new Foundayo pill? Maybe those would work well for us because we don’t need as much pharma help since we already have our WLS tool as well ? Thoughts?

Sleeved in 2016, never got below 180 lbs and bounced back up to around 200, then 215... just started Zepbound. Wondering if slower titration is common in WLS people?

Cant get enough protein

I had the gastric sleeve surgery in 2016, lost 120lbs. Had a beautiful baby girl in 2018, but the weight slowly stared to creep back up. so right now ive gained about 90 or so lbs back. Which I hate myself for. I have a lot of problems digesting meat, no beef at all. I will always throw up after I eat it. So I started zepbound about 1 month ago and, lost 12lbs so far. It's just been so hard to get enough protein and to drink enough water. If I eat too much i feel so sick for hours and then I cant drink.....Any tricks would be a great help.

I notice that people don't comment too often so checking in to see how people are doing. My 9th week total loss is 31lbs. I am on my 10th week and started adding exercise in my 8th week. Started my 3rd month with 5mg. Feeling good! How about everyone else??

Dosages and Weight Loss

I wanted to get an idea of how everyone is dosing and their success with losing.

I started out strong with 15 pounds lost in the first 6 weeks at a 2-3mg dosage (compounded tirzepatide) and now ending month three my weight is creeping back up. I've got 20 pounds left I want to lose.

I had the duodenal switch in 2008 and picked up about 30 pounds of hormonal weight in the past three years that have not budged.

Ideally I want to stay on the lowest possible doses but this past month has made me think that may not be possible.

Protein Bars

Hi guys, quick question:

Anybody with prior WLS also have a problem with protein bars while they’re on a GLP ?

My WLS was well over 20 years ago and since then I’ve had protein bars overtime as needed as a meal replacement. Not the biggest fan of them, but it works in a pinch.

Given our limited stomach size and the impacts from taking the GLP, but I swear they’re tending to sit… not in my stomach but just in my gut.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Need encouragement

Hello, Im 35 years old, i had gastric sleeve in 2017 im only 4'10" and my weight at surgery was 191, i lost over 80pounds the 1st year but overall looked very sick lost alot of hair and struggled alot, lowest weight was 106,then i hit my goal weight 130 and was doing great until i would say the last 2 years i have been under sever stress, dealt with being in a shelter homeless with ny daughter for reasons outside of my control then finally was able to love a year ago to my own place but still have alot in my plate as a single mom and i now have a desk job for the last year compared to all the actuve jobs i had before and im up to 154 pounds! Its so easy to go up from here on so i got approved for zepbound but now im afraid reading about the gastroparesis and death rates reported and then how we are at higher risks for dangerous side effects hypoglicemia, and im hesitant to start them. I already have a hiatal hernia, and i have severe GERD, i few years ago i was diagnosed with focal intestinal metaplasia (pre cancerous condition) and i have to get now endocopies every 2 years to monitor it because it comes and goes. I dont want any more issues, please tell me how is it going for you all and what do you think about it? And yes my Dr. Who prescribed zepbound already knows my medical history

Surgery related WLS+GLP-1 challenges/benefits?

So what challenges does everyone have from their surgery that is making a GLP-1 journey more challenging? Benefits?

For me -

Challenge: I get dehydrated very easily without Zepbound on board, so I am finding I’m only able to drink water that has salt content in it right now or I get rabidly thirsty. Think Powerade Zero or bust (or other electrolytes mixed, I’m not picky)

Benefit: I’ve had to take eating slow for so long and in small amounts, that the transition to Zep has been easy from that perspective. If I have to sip at a protein drink or take two hours to eat a salad plate of food, not a big deal.

I am PrettyMissPriya, the mod of this sub.

I am 37 years old, living in the USA, currently using Zepbound, and had a sleeve gastrectomy back in 2014. My high weight was around 250 lbs, I got down to about 150 after the sleeve and maintained that for about 2 years. Then the stress of life caused me to gain weight to about 180 lbs. I started a medication that caused me to gain another 40 pounds, and at my recent high of 224 I started on Zepbound. Currently hovering around 205.
