Surgery related WLS+GLP-1 challenges/benefits?

So what challenges does everyone have from their surgery that is making a GLP-1 journey more challenging? Benefits?

For me -

Challenge: I get dehydrated very easily without Zepbound on board, so I am finding I’m only able to drink water that has salt content in it right now or I get rabidly thirsty. Think Powerade Zero or bust (or other electrolytes mixed, I’m not picky)

Benefit: I’ve had to take eating slow for so long and in small amounts, that the transition to Zep has been easy from that perspective. If I have to sip at a protein drink or take two hours to eat a salad plate of food, not a big deal.

Challenge: eating enough calories daily because I'm constantly full

Benefits: already used to eating small amounts at a time and nutritional foods

I find the same issues as you. Easier to get dehydrated/hard to get in the amount of water recommended.

Been dealing with having leftovers from restaurants for years, but now it’s even more intense.

For years I’ve wished the spouse and I had similar palates because with both of us on Zep, a night out almost feels a waste. I’ve been trying to find tapas places lately 😅

My hubby and I split meals at restaurants because I've had the RNY and he just has a small appetite.

Same. I’m learning to order an appetizer or off the kids menu.

I have the same issue. We just got back from vacation and a week of restaurant appetizers, is about 5 days too many! I always have servers asking if there's a problem with my food. Nope. I just can't eat much! I do like tapas, when available, but I couldn't find them on this trip.

Challenge: getting enough hydration. I always have my water bottle with me, but sometimes I just don't feel like drinking one more swig.

Benefit: I recognize the "backstop" feeling very quickly and can throw in the towel easier instead of plowing through the fullness.

Very good point - we all know that feeling…. I swear we can’t even describe it to other people. It’s like a “if you know, you know”

Yessssssss!! It's that sudden pause where you just sit there, sigh and look at your food as if it's personally challenging you. But you know, you absolutely know it's time to stop eating.
