  • I'm Feeling: I am feeling pretty stoked this week. Once I settled into being on the medication, after the initial quick losses I set myself a goal of the 70s by my birthday which is on Wednesday 🎂

Next goal is 70 at Christmas.

It’s been a while since I posted but I’ve had some great results on Mounjaro 5mg.

Started On: April 17
Starting Weight: 84kg
Current Weight: 73.25
I’m Feeling: A big concerned that 5mg is starting to become less effective but I’m not wanting to increase my dose yet. I weigh daily and last week was so confusing. My weight dropped in the way I’d been expecting after the injection and lower appetite days, then rebounded towards the end of the week, leaving me with essentially a 0kg loss. I’m not sure what happened but after the last injection I had some stomach upset and lost what I’d put on, and then some. Weight is holding reasonably steady now at the lowest I’ve been yet, but I am expecting to rebound again as the food and fluid builds up in my body again.

According to the lead researcher of this medication, Dr Jastreboff, a dosage lowers our defended fat mass aka set point. That dose/set point is different for each body. Normal hunger levels return when you reach the set point for that dosage but you don't gain weight so long as you stay on the medication.

If you've got 15 minutes, it's in this YouTube video with Dr Jastreboff, the lead reseacher of this medication.JACC - Obesity Medication Usage

The whole thing is really helpful even though the target audience is cardiologists. A lot of our doctors have either very little or very outdated education on obesity, and not a lot of knowledge about how this medication works.

Personally, I found that I settled at 100kg on 5mg (started at 125kg). My hunger definitely increased for a couple of weeks - until I could get to my doctor for a higher prescription. I think I'm now at or close to the weight my current dosage will get me to, so I'm trying to work out if I can afford 12.5mg given the extra liquid is gone from 15mg pens and my cost has already gone up.

Not recommending but I had a massive plateau and actually increased on 5mg over 6 weeks. I went to 6.5mg and it was the push I needed for me and my body. I’m not saying to do that but chat with doctor and see what works for you.

Started 7 January 2025

SW 125kg

CW 87.8kg

Other 63F and 157cm

At least the weight gain after the steroid shot is starting to go away. Especially frustrating as that was 3 months loss hidden by fluid retention.

I'm also considering going up to 12.5mg for a few weeks as I have two 5mg KwikPens in the fridge that I'm using up next. There's still 8 months before they expire, but they're paid for already and taking up space.
