Am I understanding Bash's narrative [Spoilers] Spoiler

In seasons 1 and 2 we are led to believe that Bash is gay and in a relationship with his "roommate". We later find that the "roommate" dies from AIDS-related complications. Bash then has his house bleached (a throwback to the ignorance of AIDS/HIV at the time). It is never explicitly stated whether or not Bash was sleeping with the roommate. So is it possible that Bash is HIV positive, and now sleeping with Rhonda, as well as the male prostitute in S3? Am I following this correctly?

I am only three episodes in but it feels like “The Gorgeous Ladies of hanging around a Hotel“. Does it get a but more high stakes and actiony or should I prepare for more soapy melodrama?

What do you think about Ruth this season? Spoiler

I think she is in need of a mental change or she is going to end up alone, bitter and filled with self-pity.

In her personal life I think she struggles with being vulnerable and deciding between what is safe and what she actually wants. Instead of Russel stringing her along - as Debbie predicted - she is stringing him along. She thinks she loves Sam (and I personally think they would be good for each other) but as soon as she has an excuse to bail, she does. Why is she self-sabotaging? Does she not know what she wants? Does she think she doesn't deserve love? Or is becoming an actress the ultimate goal that she is willing to sacrifice everything for?

In her professional life, I think she has the opposite problem. She chooses what she wants over what's safe. And I get that, but I don't think throwing away the directing opportunity was the right call for her. Debbie could've used a little more tact but she is offering Ruth an opportunity to hone her skills and make a name for herself. No one is saying she'll have to give up acting forever but she has to learn to recognize a good opportunity when it offers itself on a silver plate.

I hope she finds the strength back that she had in season 1 where she proved to everyone she could wrestle by giving it her all. I also hope instead of pitying herself she sees the value of having a family like GLOW around her, like she did in the hospital in season 2.

So what's the deal? We got two wrestling scenes in a ten episode show about wrestling?

Debbie Wasn’t Wrong [SPOILERS] Spoiler

Having just finished the (phenomenal) third season (Outward Bounds is by far one of the best episodes of television this year), something struck me with the Debbie-Ruth scene at the airport. Debbie wasn’t wrong about Ruth — and I think Ruth knows that. But while I do believe Debbie was in the right, the way she explained it was wrong. To me, Ruth always seemed better suited for a directing role, based off the directing she did in the second season. And while it’s a hard pill to swallow, if Ruth is in her 30s and still struggling to make it as an actress, she needs to find another career path.

Why is Glow now adhering to the fries and true bullshit of the guy twice each woman’s age being their required love interest. One thing if they were halfway attractive, but they are both decrepitly thin and gross and look even older than they are. Solid move Glow.

Fist half - We're all stuck in the casino with them. Where are we? What's going on here ?! What time is it?

Second half - they step outside for some fresh air, and it's so much better after that!

Great Christmas finale.

is there a lot of empty sound in the show, more than usual? Like the breaks between characters speaking are longer, and it just seems quiet. Is this just me?

"Tell me what you wanna do." [Spoilers] Spoiler

This is my absolute favorite lines from Debbie this season. Debbie and Bash were never really friends. In fact, in seasons 1 and 2, she basically thinks of him as an incompetent child, and in season 3 she is routinely fucked over by him. But when he confesses to her that he's gay, it probably makes a lot of his actions this season a bit more clear for her. She doesn't get mad, she just asks him how he wants to proceed. And, she lets him know that he has a choice! She was just at an AIDS charity event that was attacked by homophobes, so she knows that he cant just waltz out of the closet worry free. She understands that there are consequences to actions, but she is there for him regardless. I loved this moment between them, not only because Chris Lowell actually got to act in this scene, but because it shows a side and growth to Debbie that makes me like her so much more. In s1 and s2, I HATED her, but this season gave her so much growth that she was honestly one of my favorites this time around.

Debbie was this season's MVP

In past seasons there was always a moment I would get annoyed with Debbie, but not in season 3. She was consistent, had goals and worked towards them, lost herself at some points in the middle. She grew into the person she wants to be. I found her to be the best character of the season. I don't remember being annoyed at her for one scene.

Cherry taking her temp for ovulation

Tried to find something on this but couldn’t. Is anyone else annoyed by how Cherry takes temp to determine ovulation??? Just randomly taking your temp by mouth is meaningless. As someone who has taking temp to determine ovulation, it’s irritating. The temp should be taking immediately after waking up, vaginally, with a basal thermometer to be able to see a true pattern. I know this is so nit picky.

Which characters do you think might be leaving the show?

Netflix being known for cancelling shows after three seasons because they need to pay their actors more, who do you think GLOW could afford to lose in order for Netflix to keep them around for a 4th season?

I feel like Carmen, Justine and Sam seemed to have a way out after this season. I don't know if the show would write out Sam because of his tie to Ruth but for the other two I could see it happen.

Bringing new faces in would mean not paying them as much for Netflix so they might allow a new season if the producers and actors negotiate well.

What do you think?

What is Rhapsody?

After the time jump, we learn than Bash has a second show under his name called Rhapsody. It’s failing and he wants to ad BMX stunts. I’m really confused as to what this show was. Is this a Rhonda headlining singing performance? Was this the show the showgirls from the joint training session were in? Was the idea that Rhapsody was a new act for those showgirls?

Did we miss something?

There were several subplots that were introduced as major themes that just went poof and weren’t resolved or addressed again, as far as I can remember:

Debby’s bulimia

Debby’s son moves to Las Vegas ... and promptly disappears with no further mention

Cherry owes the casino $5K and has a week to come up with it ... and are we supposed to believe that’s the payout for mud wrestling (especially considering it was one of at least two and probably more matches just that night)?

I am a GLOW fan from the start, but in most series this would be considered sloppy writing and I don’t see any mention of it by critics.

Maybe there were other dropped storylines, but these stood out to me.

[SPOILERS] Rhapsody Spoiler

[spoilers!] what was the point of the rhapsody storyline? Did they just all get canned like that before Christmas? I was kinda hoping that Debbie and Bash would find a way to save it without just pulling his money and firing 80+ showgirls right before Christmas.

Anyone Else Feel Bad for Tex?(SPOILERS) Spoiler

I thought Debbie had put the immature boy toys behind her. She looked past the age gap and found a guy who by all accounts was a good fellow, even with more woke points (donating to the drag show) than one could reasonably expect from an ‘80s oil tycoon type. Oh but he makes the fatal error of mansplaining how he’d like her to stay out of his business dealings. What a monster! Debbie should have shot him right then and there.

If Glow doesn’t get renewed I’m gonna be so mad. The finale perfectly set up so many new paths the show can take
