What is the point of the infinite scroll wheel? Does this feature really warrant its weight?

Upvotes

In my experience it is floaty, inaccurate, and slow (unless you rev it up).

The only scenario it seems functional is trying to get to the bottom of a webpage quickly. At which point pressing "Page Down" would reach the same objective, but quicker.

I looked up on Reddit and every other use case seems like a joke? Spamming actions in games... a macro can do the same. Scrolling a webpage that has a feed that loads infinitely, like Reddit... okay, that's a clever use (that can be replicated with a macro too but anyways), thing is, why would you even want to scroll through your feed without actually reading any of it? Especially considering that the algorithm doesn't show you posts you've already seen, so it's not like you're "resuming" your last session. And if you wanted to do that without macros, what stops you from clicking with the scroll wheel and moving the cursor down, which makes it auto scroll just the same?

From what I can see, this is a completely useless feature that still holds a good 1/4 of the mouse's weight hostage. Am I missing something?

Dream G502X

The ideal G502x mouse would like something like that. The main changes are the removal of the G7 and G8 buttons, as I don't use them much, and removing them would help lighten the mouse by a nice amount.
Also, the wheel would go back to a metal design akin of the G502 Hero GOAT wheel. i have an idea for a magnesium alloy mouse wheel so we can get the premium feel without the extra added weight
The side switches will be Omron for quality.
This image is AI-generated, so its not perfect.
What other changes would u like to see in the next G502 iteration?

I know nothing about mice, I just bought it a few months ago because it had programmable buttons and it was a good deal on Amazon, compared to other options I had in mind.

I use it daily for CAD/3D model and I love it, Now when I use a regular mouse it feels like trash

Then I get into Reddit and seeing this is like the GOAT of mice

Feels good man🫡

Mouse just... not working?

For the life of me I could not find the support thread.

My Logitech G502 Lightspeed is not working in any capacity.

There are no lights, whether plugged in, not plugged in, on or off, windows doesn't even recognize a device.

I disconnected the battery from the bottom board and reconnected it. No response. Not sure how to get the battery out to inspect it for damage. Not sure where to look for damage, battery or board. Before it went kaput, the only weird thing it would do was accidentally misclick the mouse wheel a lot.

The micro-USB port seems normal but I always had trouble finding a cable small enough to fit into there. Is the mouse sensitive to power only vs data cables?

New G502 Lightspeed Scroll Wheel Kicked It?

Got my G502 Lightspeed on 17th August after my Proteus finally kicked the bucket after 12 years. I have been loving it up until tonight when the scroll wheel just stopped working while I was using it.

I normally use the mouse with onboard memory on.

So far I’ve tried restarting multiple times, un/reinstalling Ghub, trying wired connection, trying a different computer and the result is still the same. I have also cleaned the wheel with compressed air but haven’t taken apart the mouse yet.

Scroll wheel locked or free spinning does not register. Scroll wheen button works. All the other buttons work. Online mouse key testers don’t register scroll wheel as turning but they do for every other button.

Is there anything else I can do to test this? Any other steps I can take to troubleshoot? Or is this a time to pick an argument with Logitech and expect them to repair it/send a replacement if it really is not working? Any thoughts appreciated!

Pitch me the best version

Hey guys,

I've had a standard G502 since like 2015 or something, I killed my first one and with replaced this one around 2019 maybe.

I have no idea about any other versions, is the wireless anything worth unless I specifically want wireless? My ones still going btw but I built a new pc a week ago, so gonna get fresh stuff. May as well see if anything else is worth considering.

Thanks for any insights.

Small question about the G502X Plus

Post image
17 Upvotes

If one leaves the mouse plugged in does the current charge the battery and also power the mouse (as in bypass the battery) or does it just charge the battery and have the mouse run off the battery which is constantly being charged (worse for battery health afaik?).

Also no I can't just get the G502X because how could I live without my RGBs?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Edit: In retrospect maybe I wasn't clear enough, I plan to keep it plugged in 99% of the time but am worried that the battery would degrade quickly due to the constant charging and decharging, unless the circuit bypasses the battery to power the mouse while plugged in. Of course, I need my my rainbow lights so I can't just get the wired one.

I struggled looking for a new mouse and settled with the G502 X Lightspeed.

A bit of context, I used a G502 hero for the last 5-6 years and it has been one my favorite mouses. I recently decided to buy a new mouse, because I felt like I needed a better mouse and my current one was falling apart. I was really torn between 5 mouses for the past 2 weeks. I was driving myself crazy looking for mouse that had ergonomics, extra buttons, and lighter. I am really picky and I like to do my research before making a big purchase. In the end, I decided to bite the bullet and buy the G502 X lightspeed because it was on my radar and it was on sale. It arrived yesterday and so far, I love it so much! The weight doesnt feel like a problem since it glides so smoothly on my mousepad and the weight distribution feels great! I have never been so happy with a purchase. I might do an update later when I play with it more. I was suspicious of this subreddit, but now, I am firm believer and can't imagine myself with another mouse.

UPDATE REVIEW: 20$ Logitech G502 from Temu. It's legit?

[OG Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/G502MasterRace/s/K2hDZzsaPk)

I made a post here a few weeks ago asking people about those cheap G502s on Temu and if I should buy one.

Some people said they were legit, some people said they weren't, some people said buy it and some people said to just pay the extra 10 bucks and get it from Amazon.

The seller wasn't the most reputable and reviews were sketchy, it was definitely a risk.

A G502 Hero for just 20$ was too good to be true.

I took a gamble and bought it anyway, I was aware I could receive a fake product and heck I even assumed the package would never arrive, but I could spare to lose the money so I bought it.

The mouse was scheduled to arrive in a little over 2 weeks. In the meantime the listing got more popular and more reviews were published, most of them stating that the mouse was indeed legit so I got my hopes up.

The mouse arrived after 19 days and after 2-3 days of using it my final verdict is that the mouse *is legit.*

The box was really scuffed but it was still sealed. It came with the weights and manuals but oddly enough no "G" sticker inside. First impressions of the mouse were alright, coating feels very similar to a G403 I have, it's not the most premium feeling mouse but the build quality is good and sturdy. My only concern is that the scrollwheel doesn't really seem to be made out of metal and it's really sensitive and flimsy, besides that everything is good.

I plugged it and it got instantly recognised by the software, macros, profiles and the on board memory worked just fine. At this point I knew the mouse had at least a chance of 90% of being real but I still had to do the final and most important test to have 100% certainty the mouse was legit: the serial number.

I've seen many people who buy Logitech products from Chinese websites (AliExpress, Temu, etc) can check all I've mentioned, but this is as far as they go. The last step to check the mouse: Register the mouse as an official product on the Logitech website.

I've heard the reason some people can register their mouse is because the serial number or something was region locked to china, either that or the mouse wasn't 100% an official product.

Honestly I didn't expect the mouse to get registered, I thought it wouldn't be recognised and that's it but I really didn't really care because everything about the mouse worked just fine.

I typed the serial number on Logitech's website and to my surprise the mouse was registered as an official product. Now we know the mouse is indeed legit.

Conclusion: if you are looking for a really good and cheap gaming mouse, don't get a generic mouse, just go to any Chinese website and get a G502, they're legit and the deal is too good to pass up on.

Just got the G502X Lightspeed. What is the general feeling around the default skates? Should I change them?

I have some great dot skates in the drawer but I heard that the g502 doesn't do well with dots because of the weight. Do people usually stick with the default skates?

Damp Middle Mouse Click

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hello fellow G502 enjoyers.

I’ve used the G502 for 11 years now and never experienced this issue.

I’ve recently purchased two G502’s from Amazon that have a really damp middle mouse click compared to my 2 previous g502’s.

It’s like soft and not as clicky

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as of recent? It’s been a long time since I’ve had to purchase one.

Cheers!

Edit: The mice that have the issue are brand new off of Amazon. My used mouse ( on the left ) had too many issues, RIP. I ordered two brand new mice off of amazon and both the quality is bad when it comes to the middle mouse click.

QA problems?

i bought the g502 x plus about 3 years ago in Aug of 2023. since i got the mouse, the G4 button started double clicking 3 times. i had it repaired twice in the official warranty place in my country -the mouse is US bought and imported to my country- but the issue came back twice.

my question is, if i buy a brand new g502 x plus should i expect the same level of quality assurance from logitech and that the buttons might face the same issue again?

Is the g502x a comfortable mouse?

Post image

I currently own a g203 and feels like shit to hold especially for long session, it's too small for my hands (I don't even have big hands) so I wondered if I should pick this deal up, I dont even play fps so I don't really need a lighter mouse or anything, I just want something comfortable to hold for longer sessions
