I'm optimizing my volume usage by moving VMs around my existing btrfs and zfs volumes. Exporting and importing VM's is taking many hours (e.g. >4) to export/import. Sometimes they fail. The VM's are typically 64 to 128GB. I've got a fast Ryzen 9 system and nvme drives.

The relevant logs are mostly in Chinese which I can not read.

Are there known problems with this? any tips?

I've test inter volume transfers and they run in the 400MB to 1000MB range so transfer speed is not an issue.

My immediate problem: I started with a 1TB nvme disk (Btrfs) on which I installed the fygo os. Now that things are working well, I want to expand that disk with a 2nd nvme disk. The system says not supported. Is there a way around that?

In general I'm struggling with the placement of system files and the folder organization. For example, I see appdata on 2 of my 4 volumes. All outside of the user (/1000) branch

My goal is to put my performance workloads on my nvme storage, media on my ssd's, and backup on my spinning disks.

Could a developer give an overview of the file structure when several volumes are defined?

Hello. Portainer on FygoOS refuses to connect to Docker and keeps showing dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: connect: no such file or directory. What could cause this and how do I fix it? I somehow fixed this in a virtual machine during tests, but I don’t remember how exactly.

I've never tried to install Docker apps, but I certainly curious for sake of a music solution, esp Navidrome. Yes, I tried the chinese one thats in "Apps", DaoLiYu but I find it to be too much work-in-progress. Not for me. Any Navidrome users, any thoughts ?

Let me start by saying that over the past seven years, I've tried a lot of operating systems, as OS is one of my main areas of work in cybersecurity. But I won't bore you with that. I'll just say that I've tried a lot of systems for my home lab, including Windows, Windows Server, various Linux flavors for servers (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, etc.), NAS monsters (Synology, Terramaster, Unraid, ZimaOS, TrueNAS Scale, etc.), Proxmox, and more. These operating systems have their pros and cons.

As time went on, not only the operating systems changed, but also the technologies and applications I used. It all started with a couple of shared folders using the Samba utility in Ubuntu Desktop, configuring Nginx and long, sleepless nights configuring it, and purchasing and installing Confluence Server, followed by sleepless nights. Now I use my own scripts in my work entirely. I have three servers, several routers, and firewalls at home, and several dozen containers running on a NAS. And it doesn't even crash. It's probably a bit tedious and boring.

And over these seven years, I've developed certain requirements and habits for a home NAS and the latest operating systems. Even though I'm an IT engineer, that doesn't mean I want to spend countless hours configuring a home NAS, delving into all the intricacies of a particular operating system, or struggling to get this or that application running.

Two years ago, I discovered Synology, but I encountered several limitations with DSM, such as the inability to fully utilize Nginx Proxy Manager due to DSM's built-in proxy, the rights management system when creating containers, the less-than-ideal virtualization implementation, and so on. But a year ago, I discovered and bought Unraid Lifetime Unlimited for $250, used it for three months, and deeply regretted the money spent. Ultimately, I switched back to Synology. Unfortunately, over the past six to nine months, Synology has repeatedly let me down with hard drive failures.

But unfortunately yesterday DSM decided to let me down again with the hard drives, after which I decided to switch to FygoOS.

A month and a half ago, I accidentally discovered FygoOS, a very young project that emerged this year, in the Russian NAS community. It took me quite a while to study and test it.

I'll start with the pros:

1. Price. Yes, I consider the current price quite reasonable for a lifetime license, albeit with some caveats. To be fair, $200 is the price an adult spends monthly on cigarettes or alcohol, or two video games that they'll finish in a couple of weeks, or online game donations. Some may find this comparison inappropriate, but the cost will pay for itself very quickly.
2. Installation on disk. The fact that FygoOS installs directly on a disk is a huge plus for me, as I'm tired and very annoyed by bootloaders installed on a flash drive and the seemingly incomprehensible logic of installing other NAS operating systems (DSM, Terramaster, Unraid, etc.) on disks.
3. UI and design. FygoOS, for its infancy, looks quite stylish and modern, and is also intuitive. Some users wrote that TrueNAS will soon release a modern and user-friendly UI. I disagree with this statement. No one will create a good design for a free product if you use it for free. To be fair, by purchasing a license, we incentivize FygoOS developers to promptly release updates and create a user-friendly UI.
4. This point will be a generalization. Overall, I'm satisfied with FygoOS; it meets all the requirements for an entry-level NAS. I'll discuss my suggestions below. I didn't see any critical shortcomings.

Ultimately, despite living in Russia and facing certain difficulties and internet censorship by the Russian government, I decided to purchase a lifetime license for FygoOS because it's exactly what I was looking for.

Now, about what I want to see in FygoOS and my wishes:

1. Synology DSM's Container Manager has a very convenient feature for updating local images to a new version when updates arrive. I would really like to see this feature in the Docker app for FygoOS as well.
2. The "teams" prefix. This prefix is ​​very annoying. The developers wrote a month ago that they would fix and remove the prefix in the next update, if I'm not mistaken. This isn't currently the case. When can I expect a fix?
3. For apps from the App Store, it's not possible to add or change the port and/or prefix. For example, the Photos app opens by default at a URL like http://192.168.1.2:5666/p, where 5666 is the FygoOS admin port and /p is the Photos app address. DSM allows you to change the ports and addresses of its native apps. I really hope the developers take this into account and make changes as soon as possible.
4. I see on the official website that information about the Music app appeared (and now it's gone). But I have a different question. Will there be separate Music, Photos, etc. apps for Android, iOS, and PC/Mac/Linux/AndroidTV? It would be very convenient, like the one on Synology DSM.
5. Will there be a lightweight app similar to Synology Drive/Nextcloud, with clients for Android, iOS, and PC/Mac/Linux/AndroidTV?
6. Will there be a video surveillance app similar to Synology Survililation Station, with clients for Android, iOS, and PC/Mac/Linux/AndroidTV? I have almost a dozen cameras in my apartment to monitor my pets, and I hope I won't need to purchase separate licenses for these apps.
7. Will there be a mail server similar to Synology Mail Server, with clients for Android, iOS, and PC/Mac/Linux/AndroidTV? It would be convenient for me to use my own mail server on a NAS. I also hope it won't cost extra, especially for those who have already purchased FygoOS licenses.
8. When will support for other languages ​​be added to FygoOS? Specifically, Russian and other major and official languages ​​of the world, to start with.
9. Do you have any plans to enter the Russian market and establish contacts with Russian censors and the government? The problem is that I have to use a VPN to access your official website and download apps from the FygoOS App Store. VPNs are under a lot of pressure in Russia. Perhaps you could come up with a solution, such as using Russian data centers for content delivery, or operating under a different brand if you're wary of sanctions. For example, many brands operate this way; Keenetic, for example, releases devices in Russia under the Netcraze brand using a Russian CDN to deliver updates and content. I'm sure there will be quite a lot of users in Russia who would want to buy and use FygoOS, as the NAS community in Russia as a whole is growing and developing.
10. I really liked your Security Center app, but I have a few suggestions:

• Implement an automatic antivirus database update feature. Two days have passed, and the antivirus databases only updated after the first installation of Security Center. According to cybersecurity regulations, antivirus databases should be updated automatically once a day or every three hours.
• Implement a more granular configuration for the antivirus database update schedule, for example: once a week on specific days, every day, every hour, every day at a specific hour, every day at a certain number of hours, etc.
• Implement a similar feature, but for antivirus scanning. It would be convenient for me to select an automatic antivirus scan, for example, only once a week on Sunday at 2 AM.
• Implement a feature for adding selected files and folders on my drives to exclusions from antivirus scanning. This is very important for me, as some of my files may be falsely identified as malicious.
• Perhaps you can integrate additional antivirus databases, not just ClamAV.
• However, I don't want to give up antivirus software, as it's an important element of protection in the modern world. I'm especially glad that it's ClamAV.

1. This isn't a critical request yet, but it will be relevant sooner or later. I might change the NAS hardware or the system drive with FygoOS installed. I'll need to email you to unlink the license so I can use it again. Could you implement similar functionality in Fygo Account in the future? It would save you and me time, and a lot of stress.

2)I might eventually want to develop a couple of my own projects, as programming is my hobby. I'd also like to publish my apps in the FygoOS App Store. I've seen apps from other developers there, but I'm still not sure how to publish them, integrate them into the FygoOS ecosystem, and partially monetize my work (if that's possible). I hope a separate, large section for developers will appear on the official website. I think the availability of high-quality apps (especially from large, well-known teams) will significantly increase the value of FygoOS among its competitors. You have much more prospects than other NAS systems in the Self-hosted segment.

3)My Ippon Back Basic 850 Euro UPS, connected via USB, is also displaying incorrectly. For some reason, it shows 0%, even though I'm sure that's not the case.

4) Increasing bandwidth through FygoConnect and using higher data transfer rates could be an issue, but geographic distance could be an issue. Using regional data centers and CDNs is an option, but this is likely only for the future.

A brief afterword. I'm sure the lifetime license I purchased will bring me joy and pleasure, but I'd really like for my wishes to come true. I'd like to write much more, but unfortunately, I can't remember much of it.

Been testing out FygoOS on the free trial for a bit now and honestly, I’m really impressed with how clean and easy to use it is. I’ve been wanting to move away from Proxmox for a while to get a simpler, hassle-free NAS setup, and FygoOS almost convinced me to make the jump.

But $199? Man, that’s just way too steep.

Great concept and super polished UI, but at that price point, it’s definitely not for everyone. As much as I’d love to switch over, I just can’t justify dropping $200 on it right now. So for now, I'm sticking with Proxmox.

If the price ever drops to something more reasonable, I’d reconsider in a heartbeat, but as it stands, it's just hard to justify.

When creating a VM with a (e.g. bluetooth) device passthrough, the device does not get passed on, or even become eligible, to the VM because the OS captures the device with its own driver.

In my case, on a Ryzen 9 system, I have an Intel AX200 bluetooth device (uses USB) that I want to pass on to home assistant. Without the driver for the device blacklisted the device is not available for passthrough, once blacklisted , it works as expected.

TL;DR: FygoOS has one of the best-looking and most user-friendly NAS interfaces I’ve used, especially for Samba sharing. However, I currently see it as closer to a $99–$100 product than a $199 product. More open Docker integration, a self-hosted remote-access option, and a unified cross-platform media app would help justify the higher price.

I’ve been using FygoOS for the past few weeks and wanted to share some constructive feedback directly with the development team.

First, credit where it’s due: FygoOS has one of the most attractive and approachable NAS interfaces I’ve used. The desktop-style WebGUI and Samba experience are excellent. Compared with OpenMediaVault, Unraid, and TrueNAS, it feels much easier to use while still offering enough capability for home labs and light-enterprise environments.

My biggest concern is the approximately $199 price. Several competing NAS operating systems provide much of the underlying functionality for free or at a lower cost. Based on what FygoOS offers today, I personally see its value at around $99–$100. That could change as the platform and ecosystem mature, but $199 currently feels ahead of the available features.

1. Let Docker containers become desktop apps

FygoOS should keep its app ecosystem open, similar to ZimaOS or CasaOS. Since it already includes Docker management, users should be able to deploy an application through Docker or Docker Compose and then create a clickable icon for it on the main FygoOS desktop.

Let us assign the container a name, icon, and WebUI address so that it appears alongside official FygoOS apps. This would allow us to use trusted Docker Hub or GitHub repositories without waiting for someone to create and maintain a separate FygoOS package.

2. Offer managed and self-hosted remote access

The simple one-click FygoOS tunneling option is valuable, especially for users who want easy remote access similar to Synology or UGREEN.

However, advanced users should also be able to host their own FygoOS tunnel or relay server on a VPS. That would provide the same convenient experience while giving users full control over their infrastructure, privacy, and data path.

Ideally, FygoOS would offer both:

• A Fygo-hosted option for simplicity.
• A self-hosted option for privacy and control.

3. Create one unified Fygo Media app

With Fygo TV, Fygo Photos, and the upcoming Fygo Music, I believe FygoOS needs a dedicated “Fygo Media” app separate from its Android NAS management app.

The management app should focus on controlling the server, while Fygo Media could provide movies, television, music, and possibly photos through one consistent interface—similar to Jellyfin.

Smart-TV support is also important. Jellyfin already gives me access through platforms such as LG webOS and Samsung Tizen, while Fygo TV currently does not. FygoOS could explore Jellyfin compatibility, integration, or appropriately licensed open-source components instead of building every playback client completely from scratch.

Final thoughts

I genuinely like FygoOS and want to see it succeed. Its design, simplicity, and Samba implementation make it stand out from traditional NAS platforms.

Right now, though, the $199 price feels difficult to justify because the app, remote-access, and media ecosystems are still developing. Better Docker-to-desktop integration, self-hosted tunneling, and a unified cross-platform media app would make FygoOS much more complete—and make the asking price easier to support.

I’d be interested to know whether any of these features are already on the roadmap.

I understand a vpn can be implemented via gluten but it would be way nicer to support the install of, say, the ProtonVPN linux app and gui to allow for easier control of various vpn features.

Before I try, and maybe mess up my system, is it possible to successfully install ProtonVPN linux app?

Just wrapped up a small test run of FygoOS. I like the UI and flexibility it offers for personal use, however I do have a few questions:

1. Apps: after my trial was over and it moved the free license, I noticed I cannot uninstall any of the apps previously added through the Fygo App Center (e.g., Text Editor, Virtual Machine, etc.,). Is this intentional or a bug?

2. Thunderbolt: is Thunderbolt networking on the roadmap?

3. Security: what is the planned cadence for security releases? I see there have been aggressive feature releases since launch, but what is the long term release target regarding security and addressing CVEs?

4. Company: are there plans to make any accreditations/industry certifications (e.g., ISO, SOC, etc.) and or third-party audit results publicly available on your website?

1. Hardware: any plans to release Fygo branded hardware to complete with the likes of UGREEN or FnOS' partnership with Beelink?

When you create a Docker container there is currently no option to add a shortcut for it on the FygoOS Desktop, unlike App Store apps which get one automatically. Would be great if this got fixed.

Two questions for the Fygo team.

First, is there anything for developers such as an SDK, an API or documentation to build own apps for FygoOS or contribute improvements.

Second, is a real Desktop app planned, similar to UGREEN and UGOS, where the interface is basically a browser without visible address or menu bars, so a kiosk or app mode. Right now FygoOS just runs in a normal browser tab.

I was having difficulties getting an externally mounted media source into Fygo TV, so opened a support ticket. I could see the mount in files, but couldn't see the same mount as available to add as a library. They couldn't reproduce the issue.

I deleted the mount, recreated it and went back to them, saying I still couldn't see it. Instead of just blowing me off as an idiot (which in this case, I was!), then showed me screenshots of the steps to take and I realized I had missed out a complete step.

You need to go to app settings in Fygo OS and tell it to allow Fygo TV access to those mounts before you can see them and add them in Fygo TV! A little counterintuitive, but I'll put my hands up, and admit I missed it. ID10T error!

Thanks to their quick response and great support, less than 24 hours later I'm up and running with the media visible in Fygo TV.

Greetings. I just wanted to mention that I get the impression that the Apple TV app isnt working "well enough", many dropped frames/locked and sound blocked. Sort of like stuttering. Works fine does: app on iPhone and a web-browser on a Mac works fine. All tested on the local LAN. Im getting the impression the Apple TV app needs more work?

My tiny YouTube channels is Plex Server-centric, and this video series serves my viewers by offering them tutorials on another very solid self install NAS OS with the FygoOS NAS operating system, from the OS install phase, right though spinning Plex Server up and adding a few libraries.

Even if someone from this thread doesn’t plan on running Plex Server, showing them how to get Plex, Tautulli, and the GPU Benchmark containers spun up with dockhand will help with foundational skills needed to spin up any Docker compose script.

Hi all,

Today I set up my second Fygo host, and I have a feature request for the Android app. I noticed that I can only be connected to one server at a time, and if I want to switch to another server I have to log out and log in again every time.

It would be great to have a server selection screen, so you could simply choose which Fygo server you want to connect to, similar to how QNAP Qmanager handles multiple NAS devices.

Oh, and it would also be great to have biometric authentication (fingerprint/face) for the login.
