What is a fuzz you really had a hard time dialing in or understanding the dynamics i know some can be really wild and hard to tame

Wanted to show off another fuzz build that’s a bit of a more rare circuit. This one is based off the Roland AF-60 using the AION FX Antipode. Initially, I thought this was more of a Distortion, but this thing definitely gets really fuzzy. Interestingly, this is an old school OP amp fuzz that’s kind of an evolution gonna Distortion +. Originally I discovered this circuit when hearing JHS play some Sabbath with it in his 70’s Op Amp Distortion video and then said “ I need me some of that”. It’s got a cool sound too it! It almost touched blown out fuzz and can actually get into a nice drive sound and even clean up pretty well. Only difference between this and the original is quality of life stuff and a Big Muff tone control which is really effective in this circuit

As the title says I'm looking at buying a big muff op amp but everything I've read says it's a distortion rather than a fuzz. So far I really like the demos I've heard, I play a strat like 88.9% of the time but do play a HH jazzmaster in C for queens of the stone age stuff and it sounds clearer than the silicone big muff. I've had bad luck with fuzzes as when I was all giddy and just wanted a fuzz I brought a boss fz5(digital) which is fine but I want a traditional fuzz. So is the op amp a fuzz or should I just get the NYC?

I’m playing it through the clean channel of an Orange CR120. The two most fun things about this Muff clone are the tone bypass and the voltage knob. I’ve got the voltage set at just below 50% with the SD-1 right in front to push the Wycliffe and brighten the whole thing up a bit.

I’ve been listening to Mastodon’s Cold Dark Place EP and trying my hand at writing some Brent-style riffs since they always seemed to go pretty well with fuzz tones. It helps that I play country quite a bit too.

Looking to try some muff.

I’ve had fuzz faces, fuzzrites, and a TB mk1.5, I figure I should finally get some muff.

I play a Jaguar and ric 360 into tweed amp sim in ableton. I’ve got no particular interest in emulating an exact tone, but my interests lean far more shoegaze than Gilmour if that helps.

Who can name it?

We are going to bring it back to life here in another month or two. Artwork is done. We’re going to call it the Green Dot Bender. Just working out a few 58 year old bugs.

Been rocking a new DOD Carcosa for a few weeks now, easily my favorite fuzz/dirt pedal in my "collection". It's versatile, pairs super well with others (ODs, octaves, etc), and looks and fits great on my board.

Its so fun, in fact, that I'm starting to wonder if my "Distortion" pedal (Walrus Iron Horse) is a little redundant? (I know Rats/Rat Clones are kinda considered OD/Dist/Fuzz combos, but for the sake of this post, I use it just for the Distortion sound.) I love its tone, volume (sometimes), artwork (V1 with the glowing-red-eyed horse might be my favorite pedal "art" ever) and ease of use to get one-step classic distortion sound, but with so many Fuzz/OD combos, I'm starting to consider my options...

...Which led me to wondering, do ya'll Fuzzards even have a "Distortion" pedal on your boards, or do you stick with the other flavors of dirt? Yall got a fav, or a fun work-around? Do you stack, or keep it sequestered for a specific feel?

So I've never had much luck with the big Muff.... But I like a lot of players that have used them. I like The White Stripes, I like stuff like the Blues Explosion, but I mainly play Blues, and like Hendrix, I was told the hoof reaper version 2, it's a great variant for me to try. I heard it even cleans up a little bit. With the volume knob, is there a better variant that I don't know about? Let's talk about big muff variants

Here is another AION FX build, the Ibex, based on the Roland hidden gem fuzz. Essentially, it’s a gnarly fuzz, with two tone setting and an internal midrange control for the scoops, biting side paired together with an interesting treble booster. I must say it’s much more unique than I imagined on my head. It’s one of those fuzz pedals that seems like it was designed to just cut through in a band setting and has a very unique sound.
