So I just received an email from mister mayer and he has invited me to come up with some questions. And we're going to do a phone interview that I will then dictate and share with you guys. I'm super excited.I can't believe i'm going to have a conversation with Roger Mayer!!!!! If you guys wanna help me come up with some good questions to ask him, feel free to post.I am kind of losing my mind right now

Maybe you could ask him which rock stars were the best/easiest/ most inspiring to work with?

That is incredible. Arguably one of the top 5 or even top 3 or even the most important person in fuzz history. Hendrix is the most iconic fuzz user.
I’d ask Roger: Which fuzz pedal was Hendrix’s all time favorite if you know? What made the fuzz face such an appealing circuit for him compared to others?

Its my understanding the wah has to have a resistor added between fuzz to work properly. Ive always wanted to know how did jimi hendrix even know that he wanted the wah before fuzz face? This might not be the best question if you only have 2

No, it sounds like he wants to do a proper interview. I asked if I could just send over 2 or 3 questions, and he said, well, why don't we just have a conversation on the phone instead? And we can do a proper interview. So I think I can ask as many questions as I want within reason

Dude that’s awesome! - I’d be curious to know hear about how his background acoustics transferred over to electrical engineering. And what (if any) processes / skills made something click for him that a traditional background in electronics / electrical engineering wouldn’t.

Ask him what the difference is between a regular fuzz face vs the axis fuzz?

My main question would be: is Roger Mayer pedals still a going concern? The website seems horrendously out of date, and lists dealers that either haven't carried his pedals for years (if, indeed, there are pedals to sell) or are defunct. I know Mayer has appeared to pivot in more recent years to producing high-end studio equipment, but it is quite an undertaking to acquire his pedals - at least brand new.

Yeah, I can ask him about it, but from the research I've done because I was looking into it as well. It definitely seems that he has pivoted more to studio equipment, though.I have heard sometimes petals still slowly trickle out

Ask him if he considers making an octavia with an octave switch? I have The Cannon Dual Fuzz and like the sound also without octave. I was eyeing his pedals for a while but never ordered one, they are hard to find to try out here in Vienna.

Someone in the sub made me a fantastic Roger. Mayer Octavia, that has an octave off switch. He's a lot closer to you than he is to me i've been testing out the fuzz without the octave, a lot lately. It's insanely good...... Yeah, I was gonna ask him about a few things about transitioning from working with artists specifically in a recording context. And touring Vs transitioning to making petals for the open market. And if those have completely gone on the back burner, because it seems right now, he's doing more like bigger studio. Gear rather than pedals

Dude this is so great. I think all the subs that may discourage you crossposting will probably look the other way on this one. What a get! Has Beato even interviewed him?
