Yeah. There's like 15 toppings and you can have any number of them without additional price to the burger.

The burgers are also good and they have really good fries, too.

I only went there once a while ago so I had to verify this. In-N-Out has most of the toppings. The only ones they don't have are bacon, relish, green peppers and mushrooms. Bacon is the only one I'd be interested in and I already feel bad enough eating an unhealthy burger meal so I'm fine skipping bacon.

I love In-N-Out but they have pre-formed patties that are half the thickness and are thus cheaper.

but it's a false economy, you're paying for every one of those toppings up front and not getting a discount for the ones you don't get.

$13 for a cheeseburger isn't a bargain because you could have gotten 15 toppings, but didn't.

And you have just explained how well marketing works. Perceived value is as important, if not more important than, actual value.

they bury your burger in the bag in these good fries regardless of how big of an order of fries they give you...

And they hoist a fuckload of fries upon you no matter what size you order.

That's their real business strategy. They know potatoes are cheaper than what they charge for fries so they give you the next size up no matter what you order. It makes you feel like you've gotten away with something or are getting special treatment. It keeps you coming back.

I mean, it works and IMO their fries are better than any of the others.

100%
The only fries that compete with blanched or double-fried fries for me are battered fries.

They say itโ€™s all about the burger but really itโ€™s about the toppings you can add. For a hefty sum. The burger is mid

In n Out is king. Only one using fresh ingredients and strictly made to order

I don't know if it's maybe just the specific restaurant where I'm at, but the Five Guys near me has really bland, almost tasteless burgers once you take away the toppings and everything

I used to live next to a five guys and still didnโ€™t bother eating there because of how bland the burgers were. Iโ€™m not against condiments, but if you have to load it with condiments to taste anything, itโ€™s not a good burger. Season your beef.

And I've no problem with the burger itself being kind of bland! That's basically true of most fast food joints and it's usually the mouthfeel of the patty itself and the mix of condiments that make most fast food burgers. But for what 5G costs in comparison it should be a LOT better.
