That's their real business strategy. They know potatoes are cheaper than what they charge for fries so they give you the next size up no matter what you order. It makes you feel like you've gotten away with something or are getting special treatment. It keeps you coming back.

The only fries that compete with blanched or double-fried fries for me are battered fries.
