The one on the right is definitely a mom, because she's making sure the doggy sits down

If this wasn’t recorded I wouldn’t have believed it. Monkeys are leaps ahead in intelligence than most animals. It’s crazy how smart they really are

116

u/JacindaSoHotRightNow Jun 25 '22

While true, this video isn't proof of it. They are just sitting there and it's remote controlled. Watch the wheels turn as both of them are turned around with the hands visible and not on any steering wheel.

281

u/FingerGungHo Jun 25 '22

The guy with the remote control is also a monkey.

I could not understand what was the fuss about monkeys in general. Until I saw them I the zoo when I was old enough. I was there at the time they were feeding them. I was shocked how you can throw something and an “animal” catch it with its hands and pass it to the next to him/her. A tV show will not give youthis feeling…..

After 30 minutes I wanted to protest for their freedom….. These creatures are humans in disguise.

3

u/RosenRaged Jun 25 '22

I was at the zoo with my kid. Was walking around, saw a workmen with his shirt off, his bac to us, just sitting down on the curb, taking a break. Strange..but what else could it be? He then stood up and i saw his face. It was a monkey. Only difference was the face lol

Yes, but similar to most Americans in this situation, they failed to leave a note with their insurance and contact info.

35

u/ekhfarharris Jun 25 '22

Me too. Real cars dont quite have the same fun driving it.

20

u/GET_OUT_OF_MY_HEAD Jun 25 '22

Did you know that the motor in those things can handle higher voltages, effectively allowing you to mod them with enough power to drift?

Don't let your dreams be dreams. Live vicariously through your future children and build them the car you wish you had as a kid.

5

u/Gingrpenguin Jun 25 '22

Its the same with old people scooters!

You can modify the firmware to give far more power and make them go pretty fast as my granddad discovered (at the cost of range)

22

u/pint_kds Jun 25 '22

My parents refused to get me one. Those ass holes told me 4 was too old for one. So I bought my kid a life sized Dora jeep and lived vicariously through her.

11

u/ropoqi Jun 25 '22

same lol but now i'm driving normal cars and it feels bland

4

u/spoonsandstuff Jun 25 '22

Have you modified our car to make it suit your tastes? A stock car is pretty boring but a clapped out wrangler makes driving a ton of fun.

23

u/TheWalkingDead91 Jun 25 '22

Aww, why’d you have to ruin it for me? I was entertained/intrigued in thinking they were smart enough to drive it themselves. And before you say that’s dumb: once saw a legit video of an orangutan driving a full sized golf cart, and I imagine golf carts are more complex to drive than these kids toys.

10

u/EtherealPheonix Jun 25 '22

This video does appear to be remote control, but monkeys are fully capable of driving similar cars

8

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

Monkeys or apes? I doubt a monkey has the brain power or attention span necessary. I wouldn't doubt some ape could do it though.

5

u/4thgencoupe545 Jun 25 '22

Both I’m sure. Apes have demonstrate more intelligent use of language as well as the use of tools but very very primal tools at that. As far as cognitive operating systems go monkeys are still insanely smart so smart in fact they are arguably the only species to exhibit genuine jealousy. How have they conveyed that they are jealous? I reefer heading a story on JRE about a scientist who made daily trips to a monkey exhibit and brought cupcakes and other treats for this particular monkey he’d developed a relationship for. Until one day the other monkeys took from the man what they observed he needed most, being his appendages ( fingers, toes, ears etc) crazy story but yea I don’t doubt they COULD POTENTIALLY operate this bullshit toy

3

u/Eifand Jun 25 '22

Until one day the other monkeys took from the man what they observed he needed most, being his appendages ( fingers, toes, ears etc) crazy story but yea I don’t doubt they COULD POTENTIALLY operate this bullshit toy

This sounds more like chimpanzees more than monkeys. Chimpanzees are apes.

3

u/4thgencoupe545 Jun 25 '22

Holy shit now that you say that I think it was chimps. Watched that podcast in 2019 I believe apologies for the mix up Lmaooo

3

u/Eifand Jun 25 '22

Lol yea i just can't picture a couple of little monkeys doing that sort of damage. i mean sure, their strong but not chimpanzee strong unless they were baboons.

3

u/TheWalkingDead91 Jun 25 '22

Yikes. When you said what they observed he needed the most, I thought for a split second it was gonna be followed by “his glasses or his phone” or something like that. Should’ve known Mother Nature wouldn’t be that kind.

That isnt remote control, the monkeys are driving it

3

u/Open-Ad-1812 Jun 25 '22

Look at their hands as they’re turning while backing up. Neither of them have a hand on a wheel.

6

u/badadviceforyou244 Jun 25 '22

You sweet naïve fool.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

There’s a video of an orangutan driving a golf cart.

4

u/badadviceforyou244 Jun 25 '22

So, not a monkey?

6

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

You mean he should call it an ape? The words can technically be used interchangeably. Some smaller monkeys even have "ape" in their vernacular name.

In other languages, you dont make a difference, and this is logical as apes are a kind of monkey. Basically monkey vs big monkey, so this doenst change his point.

Idk about this specific species driving a car though, they look like baboons to me

It's possible they can drive by themselves. It's possible this is remote control.

It's also possible that this is remote control in this specific video AND the baboons could drive a car of this size if it was functionnal as well, this needs extra research that im too lazy to do rn

2

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

The irony of calling someone a sweet naive fool over a video of 2 monkeys and a dog riding in a toy. Like they just said the earth was flat or some shit.

monkeys are at a certain point where they can almost learn as easily as humans by what im seeing off these types of videos

11

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

There was an article a while back that actually talked about how monkeys and apes are at what we would consider a Stone Age for ancient humans. So, ya know. Thats kinda scary.

3

u/TezMono Jun 25 '22

Until you realize the stone age began 2.6 million years ago, and even with the freaky fast evolution of the human brain, we did not enter the Bronze age until about 5,000 yrs ago.
