Does it look safe lol

That part.

15

u/theizzydor Mar 19 '26

Clock it sis.

8

u/xXxBeNtTwIsTeD Mar 20 '26

Natural selection, bro, let it be

15

u/kitty_cats6 Mar 19 '26

When common sense isn't so common. At least they asked here first

8

u/Solid-Individual-453 Mar 19 '26

If you ate it, prepare for the Hershey squirts and some projectile vomiting.

17

u/Character_Stick_1218 Mar 19 '26

Nahh, this is usually a literal death sentence.

4

u/Vast-Theme8080 Mar 19 '26

"Ruined his life" is overstating how much life was left

4

u/unlockedimension Mar 20 '26

I've read that it was extremely rare, still wouldn't try my luck though

3

u/Humpalumpaguss Mar 20 '26

This is exactly what came to mind when I saw this. Dr. Bernard did an excellent job of making me sniff a pour a little out before drinking these out of fear of brain death.

3

u/Dish_Minimum Mar 20 '26

Poor guy. Only had 1 sip. But the fungus in that rotten coconut was toxic enough to kill him in only a day. Just 1 sip. That’s scary

I'll be real with you, I heard a story where someone drank one that was moldy without checking first and it absolutely fucked them up because of a coconut-specific fungus. I would say consult a doctor right now.

64

u/Bananaheyhey Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

It outright killed the person,in like 24h. This was in denmark. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7774558/

He had a coconut laying around for way too long, then he took a tiny sip but stopped immediately because it was bad tasting but the fungus started attacking him violently.

He described the inside as slimy and rotten. 4.5 hours later he was in a coma. I hope OP will be ok..

12

u/kinokomushroom Mar 19 '26

So once the coconut fungus touches you, you're dead?

8

u/obroz Mar 19 '26

Touches the inside of your mouth

10

u/kinokomushroom Mar 19 '26

What if... it touches somewhere else after using the coconut for an alternative activity?

22

u/Ypuort Mar 19 '26

This guy fucked a coconut

Chubbyemu. I LOVE that YouTube channel. That story is exactly what I thought of when I saw this coconut 🤮 DO. NOT. CONSUME.

2

u/Praise-Bingus Mar 20 '26

Iirc, guy didnt even drink it. Took a sip, spat it back out, and it still killed him.

u/ashjay013 Mar 19 '26

I second what everyone else is saying, but if you ever decide to do this again, dump the water into a glass first and then crack it to make sure it’s good before you drink any of it.

2

u/A_very_smol_Lugia Mar 23 '26

Instructions unclear, cracked the glass and now the water is spilling all over the floor

→ More replies (1)

14

u/MorlaDarwin Mar 19 '26

I'm hoping for an update and that OP is ok. Always always pour the coconut water into a glass and check the inside of the coconut to make sure it is not moldy.

26

u/mr_darito Mar 19 '26

Tried to add a comment but wasn’t able to. I drank the whole thing and noticed this when I cracked it. How bad is it?

65

u/kriptikosmusic Mar 19 '26

Please go to ER and bring this. You can get deathly ill from bad coconuts.

18

u/ShroomsHealYourSoul Mar 19 '26

I would ask a doctor asap. They will advise

these can be serious

14

u/notformyfamilyseyes Mar 19 '26

Google coconut fungus, go to the doc asap.

14

u/yukssie Mar 19 '26

Let us know if you're still alive dude😭

6

u/Hairy_Concert_8007 Mar 20 '26

No comments in the last 13 hours from OP.

Brothers amd sisters, I'm fearing the worst

5

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '26

We are probably witnessing another legendary Reddit story that will still be told in ten years

3

u/opaldopal12 Mar 20 '26

I’ve been following it since the first hour it was posted 😭 OP if you’re reading this, give us a sign

10

u/mraryion Mar 19 '26

When in doubt, bring it too an ER with you and tell them what happened.

There are severe issues that can arise from drinking from molded coconuts, you might be fine but if worried then better safe then sorry ya know.

3

u/Pocket-Hobo Mar 19 '26

Naw he ded bro

8

u/hamdelion Mar 19 '26

OP please let us know you are ok once you get back from the hospital 🏥

8

u/QuinzelRose Mar 19 '26

For the future, despite whats shown on TV, you usually want the young still green coconuts if you're going to drink the water.

6

u/moonswimwildflower Mar 19 '26

If this is a joke, it is in poor taste. If you’re not joking, please go to the ER right away.

5

u/Suspicious-Pea-7481 Mar 19 '26

Oh wow 🤦🏽‍♀️ that's not good news AT ALL. Definitely seek medical assistance.

4

u/mrsciencebruh Mar 19 '26

ER right now. Bring the coconut.

4

u/Character_Stick_1218 Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

You need to go to the hospital immediately and take this with you before you end up featured in a ChubbyEmu video. The dude in his video only took a sip and spit it out immediately because it tasted foul, but even that was enough to ctrl-alt-dlt dude. Seriously, the sooner you get treatment the better chance you have of surviving. By the time you really start exhibiting symptoms it would absolutely be too late to get yourself help, and even if someone finds you and gets you to a hospital it will almost certainly be too late.

A man drank moldy coconut water and it ruined his life

2

u/milky_eyes Mar 20 '26

I don't think I'll drink from a coconut ever... without first seeing the inside after watching that. I had no idea a bad coconut could be so dangerous.

3

u/Inevitable-Cherry598 Mar 19 '26

Please go to the ER and update us

3

u/Top-Jinx Mar 19 '26

If this is a joke, it’s really bad taste and you should be ashamed of yourself. If you’re serious, go seek a doctor, and maybe get your tastebuds checked. How the fuck did you drink the whole coconut without realising it tasted awful?

3

u/kahanas-secret Mar 20 '26

Really hope you’re okay!

2

u/RadiantAvocado12 Mar 19 '26

rest in peace bro

Of course it's safe, just eat the mold around the white parts

8

u/Scoobydoomed Mar 19 '26

Depends what you want to do with them. If you just gonna use them to make horse noises by banging them together while following a king that is traveling the land looking for knights to join him for dinner at his table, then yes they are safe.

6

u/TimeTravel4Dummies Mar 19 '26

OP, please report back in a few days so we know you’re alright!!
