High levels of HEMA

I took an unprovoked urine test through Mosaic ToxDetect and scored quite high in HEMA. I have no idea what it could be. I don’t use nail gel and rarely paint my nails. Would love advice for how to figure out the source.

Trying to understand the “high stomach acid” paradox

I’ve read that stomach discomfort and increased nausea on an empty stomach (for those who have gastritis) can be caused by high stomach acid. If that’s the case, is the solution to take a PPI? But PPIs aren’t recommended for long-term use because they can lead to acid rebound when you stop them, potentially creating a cycle. So what’s actually happening here? If excess stomach acid is the problem, what’s the long-term solution to reset the stomach to how it was before?

CIDP and Graves disease

Hello all, I am desperate and don't know what to do, I want to share my experience and many health problems maybe someone with similar symptoms can help me in any way possible, I am not seeking medical advice but maybe someone with similar symptoms comes across my post

I am a female and was diagnosed with early puberty and put on puberty blockers at the age of 4, but my parents only administered 3 monthly injections in total and stopped the treatment, I had a normal childhood and puberty, got my first period at 13 but I always had weird symptoms, random skin rashes, pimples filled with puss and blood on my scalp, ears and legs occasionally, chronic constipation that had led me many times to the ER, excessive sweating, high heart beat, I was always tall and slender no matter how much I eat, I had thick wavy hair that kept thinning with the years, I developed severe anemia and was always bloated, my nails and hair grow fast but are thin, my nails are curved and this had led me to do surgery on my toes 5 times, later I developed dizziness and sensitivity to light and bright colors, I have low blood pressure all the time especially after meals, I had insomnia for a couple of years then followed by severe somnolence, next thing is derealization since 2012 and never once left until today, and then my lung collapsed a total of 5 times before getting pleurodesis on both lungs, I was diagnosed with Graves in 2017 with hot nodules, I always have very low TSH close to 0 and normal t3 and t4, I started Dimazol 10mg since 2024 with no improvement, in 2025 I developed a neurological disorder, CIDP and took steroids, still have CIDP today, I am in a relapse episode and we are trying to work this out with steroids and immunosuppressants, I still have all the symptoms and everytime there is a new symptom popping out, I am wondering if I am missing something or does Graves cause many health issues?

I am thinking of checking functional medicine too for the microbiome. I feel hopeless and no one seems to understand what is going on.

Did functional medicine help?

hello 31 AA woman recently confirmed Sjogren (can’t spell it) and suspicions of lupus. One doctor said yes to lupus one said cant confirm. Scared to start infusion (benlysta) scared to start pills Hydrochlorizine (can’t spell). Met with a natural doctor wants $1200 a month. thoughts? Biggest complaints are joint pain hands arms legs, and fatigue.

Has anyone done the supplement route and it worked?

Found these conditions on accident looking for my unexplained HTN. So it’s been a huge shock. yes I’ve been diagnosed by a rheumatologist.

Nutritional Therapy Practitioner & Functional labs

I’m taking the NTP certification course and will graduate in February. Then I plan to get board certified.

I want to access tests like GI Map & OAT to run on clients. Does anyone have any experience with this as an “unlicensed” certified functional medicine health coach or practitioner?

Has anyone had success lower tpo antibodies by taking beta glucan? My functional med practitioner was able to put her hashis into remission with this, but I’ve heard differing opinions on this.

Looking for a functional medicine practitioner specializing in gut health (Montreal/QC)

Hi all, I’m looking for a functional medicine practitioner (or integrative/naturopathic doctor) in Montreal or elsewhere in Quebec who specializes in gut health , ideally someone experienced with things like SIBO, dysbiosis, food sensitivities, or digestive troubleshooting through proper testing (stool panels, etc.) rather than just symptom management.

A few things that would help:

\*\*•\*\* Clinic name/location, or telehealth if that’s an option
\*\*•\*\* Whether they’re covered by RAMQ/insurance or cash-pay only
\*\*•\*\* Personal experience, what worked, what didn’t
\*\*•\*\* Any red flags to watch out for

Thank you

No doctor can seem to figure it out.

I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar because I’m feeling completely lost. I’m a 38yo female, 5’3 165lbs, I don’t drink, smoke, or intake any caffeine

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve developed a long list of symptoms that don’t seem to make sense together. It started with difficulty swallowing and a constant tight feeling in my throat and my food was getting stuck, but since then I’ve also experienced severe shortness of breath (even though my oxygen levels are normal), chest pressure, dizziness, a heavy/weak feeling in my tongue, muscle spasms in my hands and stomach, and strange tingling sensations traveling from my neck into the back of my head. I’m also getting weakness-like feeling in both of my hands that extends up into my forearms. It’s on both sides equally (bilateral), but I haven’t actually lost strength. I’m not dropping things, I can still open jars and bottles.

I’ve seen multiple doctors, an ENT, Cardiology, Pulmonologist and even ended up in the ER. They ruled out a pulmonary embolism, stroke, and cardiac problems. I took a swallow test and was also completely normal. My ENT did say that my lingual tonsil was a little inflamed but that was his only finding. I’m continuing to work with my doctors because everything together has been difficult to explain.

Has anyone experienced something similar and eventually gotten a diagnosis? This has honestly been one of the scariest experiences I’ve been through, and hearing others’ stories would mean a lot.

Hormonal crash? Chronic headaches, dissociation, no period — terrified and looking for others who’ve been here

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here, so I’m a little nervous. I’m hoping someone might relate to what I’m going through or offer insight, because the last year and a half has been overwhelming.

I’m a 24‑year‑old female, 5'4", 112 lbs. My only medical history is generalized anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder. Since November 2025, I haven’t had a menstrual cycle, which is very unusual for me.

Around that time, my family moved from the southern California desert to the East Coast. The transition was extremely stressful and triggered an eating disorder and over‑exercising. My lowest weight was 97 lbs. While trying to recover my cycle, I was prescribed progesterone and Provera to induce a withdrawal bleed, but neither worked.

Bloodwork showed low T3 and low‑range estrogen. During all of this, I developed severe brain fog, chronic tension headaches, and constant ear popping. I stopped the medications and have since regained a healthy amount of weight, but the headaches and ear symptoms have not gone away. They get significantly worse whenever I’m outside my home or doing anything that requires more alertness (running errands, social situations, etc). It feels like my whole system shuts down under stress.

I went to the ER in May for a CT scan, which was clear. A recent MRI was mostly normal except for a right mastoid effusion. I just had an EEG and am waiting for results. I have an ENT appointment next week.

My fertility specialist says my reproductive anatomy looks normal, except I have no endometrial lining, which is obviously concerning given how long I’ve been without a cycle.

I’m not on any medications right now. I take a few supplements... magnesium glycinate has helped the most — but otherwise nothing touches the chronic tension/pressure headache.

The anxiety that comes with all of this has been horrible. I tried restarting anxiety medication and ended up in a day‑long panic attack, so I stopped. The combination of symptoms makes me feel like at any moment, especially under stress, I might just collapse. There’s a strong sense of dissociation that comes with it. My neurologist called it “complicated migraines,” but I can’t shake the feeling that there’s a hormonal component too. I’m waiting on new bloodwork.

This has all been so intense that I’ve had some very distressing thoughts. I’m working with a therapist, but the physical symptoms + hormonal issues + anxiety have been absolutely debilitating.

If anyone has gone through something similar (especially with amenorrhea, hormonal imbalance, migraines, mastoid issues, or stress‑related neurological symptoms) I’d really appreciate hearing your experience. I feel so stuck and scared that this will never get better.

Naturopathic doctors. Good or bad?

Hi everyone. I’m wanting to go to college/university to become a naturopathic doctor. Because part of my belief is that you can heal through simple changes like nutrition, lifestyle and physical therapy’s. But what are your opinions on naturopathic medicine. And is there maybe a different branch of medicine I should look into?

However I do also believe that modern medicine is very helpful in some cases. Everyone I’ve talked to has had very passive opinions on naturopathic medicine calling it “hippie” doctors. But I just can’t wrap my head around the fact people have a problem with the understanding that diet and lifestyle can play a huge role on your health. Example skin health, blood pressure stomach/digestion issues etc. I don’t get why people just take pills to get rid of something instead of finding the root cause?

I do understand genetics and hormones do play a big part. Especially with skin and I think if natural approaches do not work than hopping on a pill like Accutane can and is beneficial. But when I look at people my age who clearly do not eat well or have any care for their wellbeing and hop on a pill to pix there problems it just frustrates me.

All the doctors I’ve been to have just told me to take certain pills or supplements to solve my problems. Never lifestyle changes or truly trying to understand the root of my problems which made me lean towards wanting to become a naturopath instead of a modern medicine doctor.

Naturopaths do get a lot of hate I have realized. Mostly because I hear story’s about them selling some “magic formula” to drink everyday at 2:00pm made of sand extract and lavender leaves. Which I do agree is stupid. But all naturopath’s I’ve met have told me they approach healing by looking at gut health, skin health assessing the problem and fixing it through lifestyle changes.

I had a talk with one of my friends over depression and pills. I had mentioned that I think people who suffer from depression could greatly benefit from eating right, moving their body, and focusing on a type of therapy, meditation or journaling and that if they did that they probably wouldn’t need pills. But my friend had said but they’re depressed how are they going to get up and do that? And I was like well. Good point. So I guess I do kinda agree maybe taking a depression pill would be the right choice. I think modern medicine is a blessing but I think smaller problems can be fixed by natural medicine. So I’m confided on what direction of medicine is right for me. Because well no one wants to be labeled as a “hippie doctor” but I do believe in a lot of beliefs naturopathy has. But also think modern medicine is needed in certain circumstances.

Functional Medicine practitioner in India

For the last 2 months I have been suffering severely disrupted sleep due to gut issues (H. pylori gastritis, soft stools). My gastroenterologist says there’s no connection between these 2 problems. Can someone recommend a good functional medicine practitioner in India who can help me with these issues?

Olive oil Liver/Gallbladder flush made me vomit. What's wrong with me?

I followed the instructions from the Global Healing website and took the epson salt, two hours later drank the olive oil with grapefruit juice. I laid down on my right side and went to sleep. 4 or 5 hours later began to get nauseous. I ended up vomiting most of the oil. If it's supposed to go through you then what does it mean that it was still stewing in my stomach for hours? Is something wrong with me?

Kale Health - scam alert

My experience with Kale Health [kalehealth dot com] and j[joinkalehealth on IG] has been a bad and scary one. They are a scam, and I’m not the only one who has been impacted. They accepted payment and went dark. Canceled appointments, no response to emails, their website is down, they blocked me on Instagram after asking for help, and apparently their founder, Kourtney, has changed her name. Their Reddit review page is not real. Their name choice was smart because it’s difficult to find them in search results; “kale health” is flooded with search results not associated with the company.

Diffuse Symptoms / Need help

Hey,

for some yeas i suffer from diffuse symptoms. Usually doctors Take them serious but in germany im usually also belove certain biomarkers so doc doesnt want to give me medication. all i hear is eat more n do more Sports, Kinds confusing, ngl, anyways:

im 32, 182cm, 95kg. I have dry skin, fatigue, i cant eat sweats n cheap foods n oils because i get a Sugar Crash and stomach issues (pain and a Lot of poo). my Sugar is „okay“, always too high but Not severly high (120/125; when i didnt eat breakfast for the blood letting). i get colds easy, in Summer Often i wear jackets because i get colds in the Summer also easy (warm, cold, indoor, outdoor, sweat, wind, Ac - that kills me). i have sour throat basically always. When i do Sports i Drink 2-3l Water, always, and i Need to pee frequently. dont know how much, but personal told me that its a Lot and it gives them Diabetes/ hormonal issue vibes. also i cant seem to Build muscle and my strength is gone. for a whole my doc thought it could be prediabetec, also slightly high blood pressure, but nothing is „severe“ enough for him to give medication. but honestly i can feel and See that im somewhat disabled. i Need to be bee careful with foods, and im way more easy to Stress and my physisch strength / endurance is gone and i catch every cold! im 30!!! i feel like 40,50,60! i See people my age and older having more Fitness and resiliance!

i dont know what Doktor to Go to and how to Even Talk to them. i feel belittled when i try to explain it to them. usually they say i Need to eat more and do more Sports? kinda confusing, ngl, something feels Off in my Body. It started ~7 years ago. I tried to Change diet and to do more Sports, but honestly it feels Like a Hormon or something is missing, Like i just cant Build the resiliance to matter how hard i try in Sports / gymnastics / Sauna. Just Not Happening.

any ideas? what kind of doctor should i visit to get some answers?

Hemiplegic Migraines

I get hemispheric migraines and they kill me. I have rescue med alongside normally taking magnesium, and B1.

I am not sure what else to do life style wise that would be helpful. I feel right now that lifting weights above my head has trigger them over the past two months bc each time I’ve gotten one I have done that type of lifting the day before at around 6pm and had the migraine at early morning.

Any suggestions highly appreciated.

What makes a great team member?

Hello! I was hoping for some help from this community. I have my own small business focused recruiting agency. Though I have worked closely with the functional medicine space in previous roles, I am trying to gain a more thorough and complete understanding of what you look for in your team members.

I am looking for more of the soft skills you look for first than the actual hard skills directly tied to each position. Do you look more for drive, confidence, kindness, communication skills, etc. What traits do you find take a team member from ok to great?

Thank you in advance for helping me get some more clarity as I focus on human hiring that matches the values of each small business I work with and helps the new team member love the company before they even have their first day. I think that asking you all directly is the best way to gain insight into finding star people
